Here it is, the sickening truth behind pet stores. Up to 90% of their puppies come from puppy mills. Puppy mills are puppy factories where the dogs breed until their bodies can no longer handle it and die. Not only that, but they face unsanitary conditions along with insufficient health care, food, water and human company. Because of these conditions, breeding dogs may carry diseases passing on to the puppies that will be purchased at the pet stores. The puppy mills' only goal is to gain profit by breeding the dogs as much as possible until they are useless. These breeding dogs do not get to see life outside of the puppy mills. They don't get walks, they don't get to run around the parks, they don't get to learn tricks, nor any of those typical dog-lifestyle. Their only best friend, a man, whom they rarely even have a chance to interact with, leaves them in an overcrowded cage with others. There is no law, nor inspection on these puppy mills that hold up to 75 animals housed in hutch-style cages with wire floors. Some are indoors, some are outdoors, but both face equally inhumane conditions whether if it's flies and other irritating growths under those wires, or ammonia vapors and odors permeating badly aired buildings. These puppy mills exist across America, and they are the shocking secret that many dog lovers unfortunately, do not recognize from pet stores.
With regard of the facts just stated above, there will be a law on puppy mills. Puppy mills will either be abandoned and no longer able to breed dogs in such a way again, or have weekly inspections for healthy, sanitary conditions including a record for the appropriate limited breeding. Thus, pet stores will continue to gain profits, dogs will be treated as a real man's best friend, and everyone will be able to purchase a perfectly, healthy puppy.
