In a radio address on June 3rd, 2006, President George Bush stated, "In a free society, decisions about such a fundamental social institution as marriage should be made by the people -- not by the courts." I agree. It is true that history has defined marriage as a union between a man and a woman, but history is always redefining itself. If things always remained static women could not vote, African Americans would still be slaves, and America would be ruled by a Monarchy, not democracy.

Democracy affords us change, and it is time for a change. Same-sex partners should be granted the same liberties as opposite-sex partners: adoption, burial rights, medical rights, hospital visitation rights, and many others.

Their are ludricrous ploys which assert that same sex marriage cannot be healthly for children, but it is a proven fact that children that grow up with a same-sex couple are neither deluded, nor mentally unstable. What about children who grow up with a mother and father who are alcholics, or abusive? Their marriage privilages be revoked.

Another ploy is legalizing same-sex marriage allows for beastility, polygamy, and incest. Which when thought about is just plain ridiculous. All same-sex partners are asking for is the right to no longer be second-class citizens.

Yes, Mr. President, "Democracy, not court orders, should decide the future of marriage in America." I say let democracy speak!

If this is a free country, then as long as it is not hurting anyone/anything then people should be FREE to be who they are. Enough said.

I believe that everyone deserves the same freedom and rights to happiness. Gay couples should be able to mary just as a woman and man can. Honestly, the gay couples are more happily in love with one another than the straight couples that I know.

I am one of so many gay youth. We, just like everyone else, want to be able to marry the person we love. We must honor our constitution, and show that all people are created equal and must be treated as such. I want to be as proud of America, as I am for the principles it stands for.

because same-sex marriage is NOT wrong. When you get married you love eachother! It is no different than same-sex marriage!
