As a Houston B.C. youth community member, please do what you can, so that the Houston Youth Centre does not close March 31, 2005. I support the Houston Youth Centre, as we do not have another youth centre in Houston or surrounding areas.

Thank you,

The undersigned

As a former member of thr Houston Community , as well as a person who worked closely with some of the youth that had gotten themselves into some trouble . The Houston Youth centre is a positive influence on the community as a whole and gives the youth a safe place to go.

When will you, (our elected representatives)open your eyes to the fact that the youth in our northern communities posess the same potential for leadership as the youth in the southern sector? It is unjust for you to deny them the same opportunities as those farther south. I raised 4 children in Houston, and most have moved away because there is very little thought , if any at all on your part for their futures or the futures of their children.

This centre was created for our children so they had somewhere to go to just be kids. Before this centre they were getting into trouble; like peer pressure to get into drugs and vandilzing our signs and buildings. The future is for the children and take that away, your taking their self esteem away. And just remember that in the future children are suppose to take care of the seniors. Whats to say they won't just dismiss them and file them away, like you are doing to the children now. I have lived here my whole life and I have children of my own and I would love for them to have something to look forward to.

This centre has been a haven for all the youth in Houston and would be a shame to see it go. All the kids have benefit from it greatly.

As former residents of Houston and having a grandson living their now we feel it is important to have a safe place for our young people to get together. They are our leaders of tomorrow!!

This youth center has kept our kids off the streets. It has given them a safe haven from drugs and alcohol and all other aspects of peer pressure. But not only has it given the youths a place to go, but it has created jobs in a comunity that already has an unemployment rate of 11.2%. The lack of funding for the youth center is a slap in the face to parents, children and buisness owners in this community.

Stop taking good and clean youth centers away from our kids. They will have nothing left if you keep it up.
