Fanfiction.net to ease up
I can understand their standards. Firstly, if you hope to be taken seriously, you probably have to take your audience seriously as well. That means spellchecking, correcting your grammar to the best of your ability and not bothering them with language that shouldn't be existent in what one might later hope to call a good piece of literature. I understand there is some entertainment value in writing and reading what others write, but I would think that people would put some effort into their own work. After all, it is you that people are going to judge by it, correct? My view: Take a little pride in your work and maybe you won't find the regulations bothersome at all. I certainly haven't. In fact I thank them, because they have made my life considerably easier, i.e. I don't have to spend hours sifting through stories that are impossible to understand (that is, stories with 'you' and the chat format). It could just be me, but I appreciate the English language far ...
