Kurt Cobain, leader of the grunge movement, had influences in punk such as the Sex Pistols but he also has said to have drawn inspiration from the Beatles and REM. A lot punk bands work in the constructs of pop. We are Sid Vicious to a new generation (Because none of us can play.) We are merely entertaining a large auidence in music influenced by both hardcore punk and pop. We never said we were punk, we simply said that we enjoy punk music, however, we are working more in the context of pop structed songs such as the Ramones before us did.
