Since this woman was driving illegally and was on private property at the time she killed this child, it is my belief that a charge of negligent homicide is far too lenient. This child who had his entire life ahead of him is worth far more than the possible one year sentence this woman could receive. Although a harsher sentence will not bring him back, I feel the charge should be re-evaluated. One year in prison is nothing more than a slap on the wrist. In honor of Gaje, I would like to see the maximum sentence for negligent homicide in OK increased. Harsher sentences could possibly prevent this terrible tragedy from happening to other innocent people. I pray that lawmakers in the state of OK read and honor this request.
