How many people agree that rap sucks?
Talentless rhyming you say? Alright junior, I challenge you to come up with an intelligent freestyle right now, I would love to see if you can make a rap as pure and lyrical as Wu-tang Clan can. And if you give me any of that "yo I'm a rapper I'm a crapper I bust a cap in yo ass" bullshit, then you prove to be a true idiot who really can't rap and thus, prove that rap does take talent. As far as a rap fan like me goes, asking me "why can't I just listen to heavy metal or hard rock", well, simply because it's not my music, I can't relate to it, I don't understand what they be singing about, just to make it easier, I don't like it alright. If you like it, good for you, but don't go forcing people to listen to something they don't want to listen to. I'm not forcing you or any rock fan to listen to hip hop, unless I see fit cause a rock fan is being too damn ignorant, but you go ahead and listen to your metal and hard rock, an...
rock & rap h8ers
Thank you. I can't begin to tell you how much this rivalry between rap and rock is annoying me. I have posted in a few petitions that was rap vs. rock, but I never insulted rock. I don't mean to take sides here, but it seems like most of the time the rock fans are the ones that are actually starting these ridiculous arguments than the rap fans are, but the rap fans who goes trashing rock in return are just as bad. Personally I don't like rock, I can't relate to it in anyway, but for the people who does like it, enjoy it. I like Hip hop, I live hip hop, I breathe hip hop, you get the picture. Just like you, I'm annoyed with mainstream rap, I don't mind if they play them at the clubs, but please, I don't think we need to hear songs or see videos about money, cars, and hoes all the time. We at least have rappers like the Roots, Nas, Lupe Fiasco, Common, Mos Def, and Talib Kewli around that are trying to bring the originality and positivity back into hip hop, bu...
Rap music doesn't suck
You know what, it's people like mad metal head and rap sux my ass that just makes me wanna grab them by their collars, chain them to a chair, tape their eyelids wide open, and make them watch some real hip hop videos and play them some hip hop music so that they could finally get out of their ignorant shells and realize that you don't base the entire rap genre based on the crap you hear and see these days. I don't like rock, but even I will not be stupid enough to say that all rock is about devil worshipping or cutting themselves when in reality the only genres that talks about things like those are metal and punk. I challenge people like you two to listen to a song by rappers like the Roots, Common, Jurassic 5, or even old skoolers like Sugarhill gang, Furious 5, or Kurtis Blow, and tell me then if you hear anything in their music that contains money, blings, cars, and hoes. I'll even go as far as daring the both of you to come up with a rap, an intelligent well though...
Its time to END the RAP CRAP!
Alright, your petition does not make sense what so ever. You say you hate rap, then go on to say that some of it used to be good. Then you go on to say that "my humps" by the Black Eyed Peas is the reason why you created this petition, and would conclude by saying that you don't want to hear about shooting ogs in the hood, bitches, pimps, etc... Now, if you hate rap, then you hate rap, you don't say some of it used to be good, unless you're trying to say that you hate the rap of today and not the rap of back then, now that would make more sense. Next, if you were gonna create this petition because of one song, you title it by saying I hate that particular song and not labelling it as hating an entire genre. Last, Black Eyed Peas has and will never make songs about the hood or slappin hoes, so get your facts straight before you decide to criticize a specific artist. I could careless if you don't like rap, but if you think you're gonna put an end to my inter...
Rock=More pure than Hip-Hop?
Everyone is entitled to their own taste, and of course, it shouldn't be a surprise of what I support. Personally I don't like rock, I can't relate to it and I don't feel the music, therefore, it's not my style. Hip Hop is where my life revolves around, I grew up on freestyles, breakdancing, graffiti arts, DJing, etc...! However, maybe once in a while I could tolerate 3 minutes of listening to rock, but I must agree with the majority here that your taste is horrible. There is no way possible that this pop punk craze could ever be in the same league as hip hop, so I suggest you start a new list if you want to compare it to the likes of Run Dmc, Sugarhill Gang, Grandmaster Flash, or even more recent The Roots. Keep Hip Hop Alive
Ban Rap!
This petition is retarded and pointless. You people don't know a damn thing about hip hop. I noticed that the majority of rap haters listens to rock and metal, well newsflash for you Columbine anti social worshipping idiots. Why don't you step away from all the electric guitars and headbanging for a second and give rap a try, then maybe, you would actually have the brains to understand that hip hop itself is an amazing, artistic, musical lifestyle just like your rock/metal music. Don't let the mind numbing of today's crunk rap and bling bling brainwash you into believing that this is what all rap has to offer. Back in the days, it was all about the mcing, djing, breakdancing, graffiti arts, and telling a story in the form of the streets. Rappers like Grandmaster Flash, Sugarhill gang, and the Furious 5 are beyond the likes of Lil Jon, Nelly, and anyother of today's rap focusing on money, materials, and girls. Even the Roots, Nas, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, and Lupe Fiasc...
You Can't Spell Crap Without Rap
I couldn't agree more. The originality of Hip Hop existed from it's beginnings through the 80s, and once Gangsta rap took over, this would lead to what rap represents today and what the majority thinks rap is all about. I'm so glad that while all this bling bling nonsense is still around, that rappers like Kanye West, Common, Talib Kweli, and The Roots are some that don't partake in that bling nonsense and are still able to make music based solely on the origin of Hip Hop, and to all that criticize rap as a whole based on gangsta rap and mainstream rap, take a listen to some of the artists I named, your opinions would change afterwards. Real Music (Real Rock) Died In The 70s
Just like rock from the 70s-80s, hip hop as well is dead. The 4 elements and the originality behind rap music and the hip hop culture existed from the 70s all the way until the late 80s, then gangsta rap took over and turned rap into what most stereotype it to be nowadays. People who don't understand hip hop need to understand that we started out as both a political movement against the system and block party, and the only battles that existed back then were freestyling, DJing, and breakdancing, but once gangsta rap came about it told the youths that it was ok to battle by shooting one another and getting into gang fights, and therefore, that's not what hip hop is, that's just ghetto trash labelled by the media to pass it off as a part of the hip hop movement. I'm glad that modern rappers like Common, Talib Kweli, The Roots, Nas, Kanye West, and Lupe Fiasco are trying to help bring back the originality, and we need more artists like those and less of 50 cent and G-u...
RAP MUSIC IS TERRIBLE
This is very interesting to hear that you think rap is preppy, because as long as I have been an avid supporter of rap and the hip hop culture I have never once seen any form of rap, good and bad, as being preppy. Calling rap in anyway preppy shows you have no knowledge for rap at all, and I can't tolerate people who gives false information when they give their close minded reasons as to why they hate rap. However, as far as vulgar and violence goes, yes, you can expect that from gangsta rap and mainstream rap, but the original state of mind in Hip hop was never about violence and how many times you can say bitch and f uck, but was more of a political message against the system and representing the 4 elements of DJing, freestyling, breakdancing, and graffiti arts, which before this whole gangsta rap trend were the only real battles that took place in hip hop. I advise you, someone who probably hasn't listen to rap a day in her life, to listen to rappers like Grandmaster Flash...
Classic Rock/ Hair Metal should live!
You know, it truly sickens me when I have to see people like the petition creator here lumping all rap together as being all about money, sex, drugs, and material possessions when all this subject matter only exist within gangsta rap, crunk rap, hyphy rap, and whatever other mainstream rap genre there is. You obviously fail to see and understand the originality of Hip Hop with its political views, struggle, and the 4 elements of freestyling, mcing, djing, and graffiti arts. Before you go any further with your close-minded and unbiased judgements, go and listen to an entire album from The Sugarhill Gang (the ones who helped introduced rap to the public eye) and tell me where drugs, sex, or blings are mentioned. You my friend sound like just another kid who's here to defame rap just because your own music isn't getting any recognition, well let's see how much you know about your own music. Didn't classic rock of the 60s-early 70s mainly had songs about drug use? And h...
