Neglect and bigotry magnified the destructive impact of Hurricane “Katrina”. The lack of response to this situation is a direct assault against the supposed rights of the poor, the elderly, of working class people, of Disabled, and of people of color. The unwillingness of those holding positions of power, to assist people in need is revolting and should not be ignored.
