Benzodiazepine withdrawal was the worst chapter of my life. It is comparable to nothing except itself. I had a severe and long lasting withdrawal. At 20 months off the medications I still have symptoms...unimaginable, but true. I compare benzodiazepine withdrawal not to hell, but the scrapings of the basements of hell. Dozens upon dozens of symptoms, so instense, so painful, and so real. The most difficult aspect about the process is not being understood by other people and having to accept that...and the ignorance that exists professionally is discouraging. Bill Gates could not pay me enough to go through that again. The anxiety and muscle tension for me were the most hovering symptoms (with other symptoms albeit).
