THIS month, tens of thousands of young women will start university and set out on the road to what will, for many, be glittering careers. These are the doctors and judges and Cabinet ministers of tomorrow, and I hope their path will be a little easier than the one forged by female pioneers two generations ago. Of course, they must earn their achievements in the future, but we are witnessing the steady march of an army of brilliant young women who, I have no doubt, will in time change the social and cultural map of Britain for ever. Why? Because women are changing themselves, changing each other and changing the world at an ever increasing rate. I watch with awe at the way younger women take a hold on life and simply demand that it goes their way. Take, as one example, the A-level performance of the girls who will become 'Freshers' in the coming weeks.
