A devil lock is meant to look evil and aggressive (and the misfits were fairly agressive), where as the emo fringe has a more romantic feel about it. And horror punk is the most underground music form there is, only maybe 3 bands ever got into the mainstream, and only one of those (the misfits) were true horror punk.
