Schapelle, my thoughts are with you constantly. I know you have been unjustly treated by a country who is betraying our friendship. I am disappointed with the Australian Governments lack of help in a strong conviction manner. But I am hoping it will change and I am making my request for them to do so. There is no just reason for Schapelle to be jailed for 20 years. I know that baggage can and has been interfered with whilst it is in transit from Australia. The Indonesian courts also know that and indeed did not prove at all that Schapelle herself put the marijuana in the bag or knew it was there beforehand. The conviction is simply made on a "view" they the Judges have and what they consider to be a "convincing" witness who worked at the Airport. Real factual evidence is not there. Its clear they wanted this conviction and it was going to happen regardless. A judge bragging about never having found anyone innocent is a real worry. I would not trust such a man. He has demonstrated he has no integrity. Also its appalling that a sentence of 20 years for Schapelles as compared to those who took part in actual killing in the Bali Bombings demonstrates clearly a biased and unjust regime. I will sign this petition as a protest of the lack of guts by our Prime Minister to make a stronger effort to assist an Australian who is sentenced to twenty years jail for something not proven beyond doubt. In fact given the state of the country's international airport it could very well be the fault of Australia that Scapelle is in the situation she is in. I did not notice Indonesia going public to the Australia the day after the bombing of the Australian Embassy in Indonesia or the Bali Bombing where so many Australians were murdered intentionaly. Anyway it was all a hoax because the powder was harmless. Still did not stop our Prime Minister from grovelling to Indonesia. Also I take offence at Indonesia making comments like "people in glass houses should not throw stones" I think they are the ones in very fragile glass houses throwing more than stones. Schapelle does not deserve to be put in jail for twenty years and Mr. Howard should have the guts and fortitude...

A fact in this case is that there is no proof that Schapelle committed the crime she is alleged to have done. It has not been proven. It is just speculation. Nothing more. Her brother or any number of other people could have put the drugs package in her baggage. (surf board.) Another fact is that the prosecution are asking for a twenty year sentence for something they are unable to prove. Another fact is that the prosecution is asking for far less jail sentences for the participants in the Bali Bombings. Another fact, subject to appeal, is that Indonesian judges have made a sentence of 20 years, reduced to 15. Still far greater than the sentences being sought for some if not all of the Bali Bombers. ie murderers of the worst kind. It all does not make sense unless there is a political agenda in there somewhere. I think this brings great discredit on the Indonesian government.
