It takes ages for someone to learn to play an instrument associated with metal. It takes a day to learn to lipsync. All pop is the same, everyone rivals against other pop "bands/groups". In metal the bands tour together and build a fanbase by touring. Pop musicians gather a fan base by having 1000's of cds distributed and advertised online, the tele and in every magazine. You rarely see a metal cd being advertised. Take Deicide, Shadows Fall and Children of Bodom for example - each of these bands have released 5-9 albums and not one has been advertised.
