Abuse and Torture in Iraq
Torture is not justified in war. It does not lead to reliable intellegence, harms the soldiers told to do the torturing mentally, hurts the people tortured creates terrorists out of reasonable people, and is just WRONG.
People, I know that some arabs have attacked us, but that doesn't mean we can go into countrys completely unrelated to the terrorist attacks, arrest people when we have no clue who attacked soldiers, and detain them indefinantly under constantly torturing them trying to get them to confes to crimes they didn't commit. If we allow this there, it is only a matter of time before Rumsfeld decides to torture people here; after all, we could get a 100% conviction rate if we just tortured people we thought had a remote chance of comitting a crime. The people who run the government are smart people play to people's natural fear of what is different from them to make them support actions they would otherwise find insidiously evil.
