Kentucky Citizens for Safe Access should be the cause of every citizen in Kentucky, who�s tax dollars goes to a budget of 1.5 million dollars not including the 6 million dollars of federal tax money it receives. Who�s efforts only eradicated 1.5 % of productions at over 557, 628 marijuana plants worth over an estimated one billion dollars that could have been put back into the state and even taxed. Turning all of those criminals into a productive farmers and not littering our already overly crowded criminal system. Kentucky beating out all other states except California as being the second biggest producing state for Marijuana. Well just as California we need to capitalize on this resource and mark a stable future in a very unstable time. With years of economic corruption its time that the state of Kentucky listen to its citizens! Should we be arresting Aids patents? Should we be arresting dying cancer patents on chemo that�s just trying to get a little nausea and pain relief, I say hell no! California state legislator Tom Ammiano argues that marijuana, by far the most lucrative crop with an estimated $14 billion in sales, could provide over a billion dollars of tax revenue in California alone!

Will be forced to march to our respective state capitols, in revolt against the destruction of our constitutional republic if you do not cease and desist from your violations of the law. You must begin immediate reversal of the erosion of the constitution. We patriots will not take your excuses anymore. We are sick and tired of your lies, your constant disregard toward us, and your prostitution of this great nation. To be more specific in the details of our grievance, we are not corporations, and corporations will not have rights of people. Most every law you have made in the past 100 years is in complete violation of the 10th amendment. You have restricted our first amendment, our right to assemble, and slowly are attempting to destroy the 2nd amendment and our right to protect ourselves because you know you have to in order to keep us from rebelling. There are more violations than can be named. It is your job to know the law and what is in violation of the law. We should not need to tell you. We put you in your position to uphold the law, not to make it up as is most profitable to international bankers and your campaign. We have been watching you, we know who you are, and we have seen your true colors. We know who funds most of your campaigns. The Ontario Liberals are going to raise your taxes by 8% on a variety of goods and services that were not being taxed before. This is going to come into effect on July 1, 2010. They are going to blend the RST (also known as PST) and the GST. This will raise taxes from 5% to 13%. On a house that costs $5000,000.00 it will add $40,000.00. They are going to offset this for you by giving families $1000.00 and single people $300.00. This is nothing more than a tax grab from a Premier that has told us twice that he won\'t raise taxes. If you want to send the Liberals a message that you don\'t want or agree with this new tax, then please sign this petition.

KBR contractors drugged and gang-raped a co-worker, Jamie Leigh Jones, in Iraq, anally and vaginally, suffering genital mutilation. She woke up bleeding from both orifices. After she was examined by a doctor, the evidence was handed back to KBR, where the rape-kit, photos, and notes disappeared. She was then locked in a shipping container, where eventually a guard gave her a cell phone to call for help. Agents were called at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, where they took Jamie out of KBR custody. The rape-kit was later recovered, but the photos and notes were gone, essentially letting the rapists go free. No rapes were ever heard of at KBR because they use mandatory arbitration for rapes and assault, which include a non-disclosure agreements. Rapists are never brought to justice at this federal contractor because the corporation actively covers up rape, \"protects their employees and the work environment,\" and makes evidence disappear to keep a good image. 30 Republicans voted against an anti-rape amendment for federal military & civilian contractors. Any government contractor who uses mandatory arbitration for rape and sexual assaults will not receive any more federal funding. In other words, any contractor who covers up rape and sexual assault by using a behind-the-doors non-disclosure agreement with the victim will not receive any more of your tax dollars. Republicans enjoy military contractors(like KBR) that keep their rapes from being public knowledge. If a person was raped at KBR or another contractor, and accepted arbitration, the rape victim can then be sued for telling people she was raped at said company, therefore breaking the non-disclosure agreement that comes with arbitration. Arbitration protects rapists and the companies that employ them, and Republicans are simply looking out for the free market\'s best interests. In June, 2008, The City of Miami passed legislation prohibiting restaurants and bars within the SD-2 Coconut Grove Central Commercial District (downtown Coconut Grove) from serving alcohol past 3 a.m. This restriction has put downtown Coconut Grove establishments at an even greater disadvantage in an already down economy, as they are forced to compete with the emerging nightlife of nearby Brickell area and South Miami, which remain open until 5 a.m. The restriction is also unfair in that it is limited to only those establishments within downtown Coconut Grove, while other establishments outside the area of restriction including one within 10 blocks of downtown, are allowed to remain open. At the time the restriction was established, only 2 bars had liquor licenses extending to 5 a.m. Temple and Mr. Moe\\\\\\\'s. Temple has since closed. Due to the perception that the Grove Closes early, people are going elsewhere, and business for all the Grove has declined. WHAT WE WANT: Our petition is to request that the City even the playing field by allowing the SD-2 area of Coconut Grove the \\\\\\\"same a.m.\\\\\\\" alcohol serving cut-off time as it had previously, and which still currently exists in other areas of Coconut Grove and the City of Miami. All the City has to do is simply remove City Code Chapter 4, Article I, Section 4-3(a)(6) from the City Code. Massachusetts is about to implement a new state law requiring license plates for thousands of scooters. The new law will require scooter owners, many of whom purchaser their scooter to save money, help the environment, and avoid the endless hassles of Boston parking and traffic, will no longer be able to reap the benefits. With license plates come increased registration fees, monthly insurance payments, inspection fees, parking pass fees, and the headaches of traffic (no more riding in bike lanes!) This law is bad for Massachusetts residents, both scooter-owning and not. Scooters will now take up valuable parking spots which are so hard to come by to begin with! Several issues with the new law: *Officials say the change will \\\"ensure safety,\\\" yet provide no statistics about safety issues and scooter/moped use. *Plated \\\"vehicles\\\" must park on the street - where do we affix a resident parking permit? How will we park at electronic parking meters - where will the receipt go? *Many Boston parking garages will not allow scooters. Where shall we park? *If we cannot park on the sidewalk, how do we secure our scooters? What can we lock them to? *If scooters are essentially treated like cars, why would anyone purchase a scooter? A car can be used year round in MA, unlike a scooter. Many people will likely go back to driving cars, which is more harmful to the environment and will increase traffic/parking issues. *Shouldn\\\'t we be encouraging, not discouraging, the move toward alternative transportation? R18+ classification for Video Games in Australia

We the undersigned believe that Australia should introduce an R18+ classification for video games. We also believe that laws should be put into place (not unlike laws for other media) where should a retailer provide R18+ classified material to minors, will be prosecuted to the extent the law provides. We are also petitioning for the resignation of Attorney General Michael Atkinson should this petition get the numbers but fall on deaf ears as we believe he is the only Attorney General in Australia who lets his personal ideals decide the outcome for those that this affects. We also believe that the lack of an R18+ classification hurts local business as people can illegally download said banned games or just import them, instead of paying money to local retailers where it belongs. Dear Animal Friends: As you are aware, the Toronto Zoo has been experiencing negative media attention this year in a number of areas,including its CEO, Board Chair, Board of Management, current and past Councilors on the Board of Management, the inappropriate use of exotic junkets and free Zoo passes by said Councilors, the dissolution of the Zoo Foundation, and finally poor Union-Management relations. Many Torontonians feel that something "bad smells at the ZOO". The ZOO lacks of an advisory group to give an honest opinion and enlightenment to the Board of Management. I am proposing to organize a "Citizen Advisory Group for the Toronto ZOO". This group would be made up of citizens from the City of Toronto and the GTA and One Worker(s) of the Toronto ZOO. I am asking the support of all Canadians and our American neighbors who ever visited The Toronto ZOO and well.. feel that maybe The ZOO needs a long overdue and necessary overhaul. Nonetheless, that's what the zoo board has decided to do, with the cost of general admission to increase by one dollar, to $21, starting in the spring. The measure must be approved by city council in order to take effect. Councillors should take care to examine the zoo's proposal before issuing any endorsement. Indeed, the entire zoo operation would benefit from a thorough examination. Councillor Raymond Cho, chair of the zoo board, can insist � as he did last week � that this civic institution is "doing fine." But evidence suggests the contrary. Over the past year, the zoo's administration has been tarnished by the unexplained manoeuvrings of CEO Calvin White concerning severance pay and a six-month leave-of-absence. Two city councillors have quit the zoo board in frustration over how it is run. The zoo has split from its independent fundraising arm, the Toronto Zoo Foundation. Attendance is down this year to 1.3 million, from 1.4 million in 2007. And the union representing zoo workers has called for a sweeping overhaul of management. If that's Cho's definition of "doing fine," one shudders to think what might constitute a crisis. A strong spotlight should be focused on this agency. Accountability needs to be restored. Right now there are a lot problems in the United States right now several of them being with the economy and the goverment. 1 of the problems being that the goverment is spending way to much money and i think that they should stop. if you agree sign this petition another problem is that when we spend the money we are spending it on things that are basicly worthless like example..... in florida they spent 3.4 million dollars of its bailout money on a turtle tunnel so the poor turtles dont get run over. 3 Million Ontarians Against the HST

Although the McGuinty government has tried its best to muddy the facts, the HST is relatively straightforward. It is a tax shift � business taxes are being reduced while consumer taxes go up. This tax shift will result in consumers paying upwards of $7-billion more each year, depending on whether businesses pass on their savings or not. Those who responded to CARP�s survey do not think savings will be passed on � they probably remember the same promises were made when the GST was introduced! The McGuinty government points to sales tax harmonization in Atlantic Canada as evidence that there will be no impact on consumer prices. But the government conveniently fails to mention that the Atlantic provinces actually lowered their sales tax rate when adopting the HST. One of the other claims is that the HST will boost job creation. Ontario has lost more nthan 300,000 jobs since 2003. Cities like Toronto, Sudbury, Windsor and London have unemployment rates of more than 10 per cent. Workers in these cities need proven job creation policies, not a new tax on daily basics. Even the Ontario Chamber of Commerce � the biggest supporter of the government�s plan � admits the HST will �slow employment growth by between 10 and 40 thousand jobs . . . as businesses substitute capital for labour in the production of goods and services.� So what�s in this tax for ordinary Ontarians? You will be paying eight per cent more on hundreds, if not thousands, of goods and services. The McGuinty government�s tax shift will result in consumers paying billions more without even any new investments in public services, like healthcare and education. It will slow job growth and help keep consumer confidence in a rut. The McGuinty HST is bad for Ontario because it is bad for Ontarians. You can count on the NDP to fight against its implementation, but we need your help. Hello everyone As a concerned taxpayer I feel it is important to have you all understand what the new HST (Harmonized Sales Tax) or \"blended tax\" means to Ontarians. It amazes me that this announcement has slipped by without a ripple, and yet when I tell people about the impact to them they are all shocked. Please sign this petition if you think that the City of Bangor deserve new Christmas lights. Year after year we put up with the same old screw in boring light bulbs which randomly go pop in the wind! Every Town and City are getting new lights for their High streets, so why can�t Bangor. This issue gets brought up time and time again in conversation and yes, granted, not everyone thinks the same, however, the majority of people I have spoken to think that new lights is a must for Bangor. ONE THING IS CERTAIN; THE TRADERS ON THE HIGH STREET SHOULD NOT HAVE TO FUND THE LIGHTS LIKE THEY HAVE BEEN ASKED TO DO IN THE PAST! As you may be aware there is a 3.5 MILLION regeneration plan for Bangor High St and to my knowledge not a penny has been pencilled in for the lights. If my information is incorrect then I shall delete this petition and take my hat off to those responsible! This petition has been set up in response to a phone call I have received from radio Cymru today. They wanted to hear the view of someone who lives in Bangor regarding the news that � THE CAERNARFON TOWN COUNCIL ARE SPENDING �65,000 ON CHRISTMAS LIGHTS TO BRIGHTEN UP THE SQUARE IN THE CETNRE OF CAERNARFON. I take my hat off to their Town Council for investing this money into their XMAS LIGHTS, providing that it will not be funded by GWYNEDD COUNCIL! UK's Youth Mobility Scheme for United States

The BUNAC program previously available to United States citizens to go the United Kingdom has ended. In place of the same visa a different scheme was offered by the United Kingdom called the Youth Mobility Scheme. In this scheme United States citizens between the ages of 18-30 with sufficient funds (1600GBP) without any dependents are allowed to work in the UK for up to two years. There has been negotiation between the two countries, but the decision has yet to be announced. This petition is to show that there is major interest in the Youth Mobility Scheme visa being available to the youth of the USA to go to the UK. Also, by showing this interest my hope is that it will sway the United States government to approve this visa. ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gansler 200 Saint Paul St # 1700 Baltimore, MD 21202 Sirs: Whereas, American consumers owe over $800 billion in credit card debt; Whereas, the financial sector continues to reap the consequences of the subprime debacle and banks are openly increasing interest rates and fees on their credit card customers in order to cover massive losses in other areas; Whereas, in the midst of the worse recession in modern memory and while receiving taxpayer handouts, these lenders continue to engage in arbitrary, abusive, and unfair credit card lending practices that trap poor, disadvantaged and minority consumers in an unending cycle of costly debt; Whereas, these inequitable credit card underwriting practices have shifted the cost of credit to the individuals least able to afford it, while at the same time generating $30 billion a year in profits - some of the highest in the entire banking sector; Whereas, low-income families and households of color, primarily African- American and Latino, bear the brunt of the cost of credit card deregulation through excessive fees and high interest rates i.e. cardholders with household incomes below $25,000 a year are more than five times more likely than households earning $100,000 to pay interest rates in excess of 20 percent; �it is particularly painful to make your offices aware of a subprime credit card lending scam that not only embodies every unconscionable policy referenced above, but has done so on a grand scale, seemingly unnoticed by the national media. That this fraud is being perpetuated by Urban Trust Bank, formed by African-American founder of Black Entertainment Television Bob Johnson, and a disgraced Atlanta company that has a partnership with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference is doubly ironic and shameful. Gentlemen, lower-income American families tend to pay higher prices for nearly every basic necessity from groceries to the price of a car to the price of a mortgage. Credit cards are no different. Compucredit, despite being sued by the FDIC and the FTC in June of last year for $217 million in deceptive fees, has continued the tradition of its infamous �Aspire� Visa� with the �Salute� Visa�. Starting in early 2007, this card was marketed by direct mail by Urban Trust Bank and Compucredit to consumers with bad credit scores as a credit card with a $300 credit limit. Approved borrowers are hit with up to $185.00 in upfront fees that reduced their available credit to as little as $115.00. Many poor people took them up on this immoral offer out of the absolute necessity of having a credit card in today�s world, despite the unbelievably usurious �fees:� $20 �account opening fee,� $150 per year �annual fee,� $72 per year �account maintenance fee, $35 �late payment fee,� $5 �internet payment fee,� etc. Many, many honest, working people paid millions in these predatory �fees� this card �gathered� for UTB and Compucredit and did so on time in the hope of improving their credit rating. After paying these millions in fees, what did all of these good subprime cardholders get without warning starting at the beginning of November 2008? A letter entitled: �NOTICE OF TERMINATION OF CARD PROGRAM Dear ------- We must regretfully inform you that we are discontinuing your Salute Visa Gold program. Consequently, we have closed your account to new transactions and may refust to authorize any new transactions effective immediately. Please note that even though your account will be closed to new transactions, you will remain obligated to pay us at least the minimum required payment on your existing balances and any new balances in a timely manner. If you have a balance, you will continue to receive monthly Salute Visa Gold billing statements and to be assessed an account maintenance fee as set forth in your cardholder agreement. The account maintenance fee can be avoided by paying in full your outstanding balances�.� We, the undersigned victims of this blatant, exploitative scam a.) Question is the legality of charging a consumer monthly/annual "maintenance" fees on an account that was electively closed by the issuer � this is at best unscrupulous and at worst illegal. b.) Respectfully request that your offices conduct complete, simultaneous investigations of both parties responsible for this latest consumer outrage with the intention of recovering some of the millions of dollars exploited from us via a class-action lawsuit such as the one already won by the Federal Government against Compucredit in the case previously mentioned.

If, 25 years ago, a group had approached Oregon Legislators promising their industry would produce 5,200 direct jobs and over 10,000 indirect jobs, if they promised their industry would be clean, green, popular with Oregonians and provide a uniquely Oregon attraction for visitors that would equal the states wineries, if they would forego any tax breaks plus agree to pay tens of millions of dollars for the privilege of doing business in Oregon � what would legislators have said? That is the history of Oregon�s craft brewing industry. We�ve grown an iconic industry built on uniquely Oregon advantages in agriculture, people, place, lifestyle and tourism. Oregon legislators have encouraged the growth of the Oregon craft beer industry by keeping beer taxes here competitive with neighboring states. Only 1 of the top 50 Craft brewing companies in the U.S. in 2007 resides in a top 10 beer excise tax state. Oregon is home to 7 of the top 50 craft brewing companies in the U.S. Raising Oregon beer tax rates would be bad for Oregonians and Oregon beer producers because� Boosting beer taxes by nearly $50 per barrel � an increase of over 1900% � would make Oregon beer taxes the highest in the country. Raising Oregon beer taxes by nearly $50 per barrel would be the largest single increase in beer taxes in American history. Oregon Brewers Guild members already pay millions of dollars per year in beer excise taxes in addition to state corporate and income taxes, property taxes and fees all other Oregon businesses must pay. Tax hikes on beer producers would raise prices for Oregon consumers, retailers and restaurants at the worst possible moment Beer taxes are inherently regressive � more than half of the proposed increase would be paid by Oregonians earning less than $45,000 per year. Restaurants and taverns are already experiencing major revenue losses from the economic downturn, and to tack a price increase on beer would only drive more price-sensitive customers away. The proposed tax would increase beer prices significantly, which would encourage customers to purchase their beer from retailers in bordering states. Higher beer taxes threaten Oregon�s growing beer industry and the $375 million in economic benefits the industry generates in Oregon every year. The proposed beer tax increase will devastate a homegrown industry. Oregon�s beer industry directly provides over 5,200 jobs. Increasing state taxes on beer by more than 1900% over the current tax could result in the loss of up to 3,400 jobs. A huge beer tax hike will threaten the second-largest craft beer industry in the nation with higher costs and lost sales Taxes already are the single most expensive ingredient in beer, costing more than the labor and raw materials. Oregon�s beer tax rate is already higher than beer tax rates in Colorado, Missouri and Wisconsin. The Oregon Legislature�s recognition of the economic development benefit from keeping Oregon beer tax rates competitive with other beer-producing states has nurtured the second largest craft brewing industry in the nation. Raising Oregon beer taxes would make Oregon beer, already premium-priced, less competitive and stunt its growth. Around 12% of beer consumed in Oregon is made here by Oregonians. That�s the highest craft beer market share of any state in the country � three times higher than the national average. Only 5.09% of current Oregon beer, wine and liquor tax net revenues actually are earmarked for mental health, alcohol and drug treatment programs. State and local governments have not been held accountable for the $155.8 million they collected in 2008 in net beer, wine and liquor revenues. They cannot tell you how they are spending most of the current alcohol taxes they collect because only a small percentage is specifically spent for treatment programs. In 2008, only $7.9 million of the $155.8 million in total revenue collected was earmarked specifically for mental health, alcohol and drug treatment programs. It�s unfair to ask beer drinkers to pay for prevention and treatment for all substance abuse in Oregon. If policymakers want more money for alcohol and drug treatment programs, they should first consider reprioritizing the General Fund dollars we currently collect rather than boosting beer taxes. Brewers would have to pay the higher tax whether or not they are profitable. To stay afloat, they will be forced to pass the tax increase on to consumers and suffer the sales losses rather than make too little margin per sale to keep their businesses viable.

Todd's Clause. January 10th,2008 started out as any other ordinary weekly trip to the local Wal-Mart in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania ,except that it would be this family's' last. Jessica and Todd, young parents, recently engaged, bundled up their daughter Jasmine (age 9 months) and son Ethan (age 18 months) to brave the cold and headed out the door. Nothing out of the ordinary. On their return trip, with Todd walking behind his fianc�e to protect her from traffic, Todd while pushing their daughters empty stroller was struck from behind and thrown, after striking the windshield, to the frozen ground. Jess screamed in horror and shock, she ran to Todd's side and briefly caught a glimpse of the car speeding off. On lookers and office workers who witnessed the accident frantically called 911.Todd was taken to the local hospital, which thankfully was a mere 2 blocks away. After arriving at the hospital, Todd was sped off to Geisinger Trauma center, 20 minutes away. While Jess was checking the kids and calling family to alert them to the tradegy, Todd was diagnosed with severe leg fractures and life threatening head trauma. The driver was apprehended a short distance away and charged with hit and run, leaving the scene of an accident with bodily injury and driving without insurance. Todd has been shuffled to several brain rehab centers and hospitals, finally finding a home at Rolling Hills Nursing Home outside Mifflinburg, PA. Regretfully, on January,23 2009 @ 5 A.M Todd, succumbed to his coma, which he had been in since that fateful day a year ago, leaving a fianc�e and family hurting,empty,questioning God and angry at a justice system that refuses to charge the driver of the car with anything other than some inconsequential misdemeanors!!! She was sentenced to an unbelievable 9-23 months in the county jail. This has left Bonnie without her son, Shelly and Kevin without their brother , Jess without her fianc� and most importantly two innocent young children without their Daddy. Todd never stopped fighting in his hospital bed, even when his frail body rejected the penicillin that was being given to him to ward off the infections. Nor will his family. We have researched several legal definitions as to just what charges she (the driver) can be charged with. I spoke with the district attorney the day Todd died and although he was deeply saddened, he stated that she could not be charged with vehicular murder. There was not sufficient evidence to show she acted with GROSS negligence .(isn't driving without insurance negligence)Ok I concede that , maybe. What about involuntary vehicular manslaughter, which fits the details of that fateful day or criminally negligent vehicular manslaughter. These all have clauses that fit under Pennsylvania statutes. We Todd's family, are urging you, as Todd's friends, and community , to be his voice now that his was silenced so early and callously by the negligent and uncompassionate actions of one selfish young woman who was more worried about her own ass then being a member of the human race and stopping to see if the father, son, and brother she hit was ok, that we knew as Todd. While we may not be able to find justice for our Todd ,we might be able to stop future Sons, daughters, brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers from going through this without some kind of justice for their lost loved ones. The BC Liberals are going to raise your taxes by 7% on a variety of goods and services that were not being taxed before. This is going to come into effect on July 1, 2010. They are going to blend the PST and the GST. This will raise taxes from 5% to 13%. This is nothing more than a tax grab from a Premier that has told us that he WOULDN\'T raise taxes in the last election. Now, because of the FEDERAL government telling him they will give him approxamately 1.5 BILLION ( to merge both taxes into one / Which supposidly will save the government of BC roughly 500 million ( i doubt it! )) If you want to send the Liberals a message that you don\'t want or agree with this new tax, then please sign this petition. Lower Kentucky Local Offical Age Limits

According to the current KY Law you must be 21 years old to run in city legislative bodies and 25 years old to run as a mayor. Our goal is to lower the ages to lower the legislative laws to 18 years old to run for legislative and 21 years old for Mayor. The law currently in place is KRS 83A.040 As legal reference we will look at different states age of candidacy laws. In Ohio (a bordering state) you must be 18 years old for ANY position, which even includes governor. In West Virginia (a bordering state) you must be 18 years old to run in state legislature. Wisconsin allows candidate 18 years old or above for any position. Texas, Michigan, and Louisiana all set their county and local office age at 18 years old. Many of these positions require much more responsibility and are higher up in government than city mayors and legislative bodies. Lets step up to real change kentucky!

The existing arrangements for animal control and protection services are inadequate and insufficient in the cities of Hoboken and Union City. Deficient oversight has resulted in neglect, abuse and incompetence. The present predicament poses a danger to public health and safety, as well as diminishes the quality of life in these communities. � Stray and surrendered animals are currently transported to an Essex County facility with little chance of rehabilitation or adoption; � Residents are given minimal guidance in handling animal-control situations; � Residents and their pets risk attacks, spread of disease and destruction of property posed by poor animal control; � Illegal activities involving animals thrive in the absence of enforcement and education; � Resources and focus are diverted from the police and other city agents from their core functions, as well as those of local businesses related to animal care. It is proposed that Hoboken and Union City residents deserve quality animal-control services, access to a qualified facility and a comprehensive protocol that would provide efficient and humane solutions to these problems. Should sex offender registries be accessible?
Before you buy a house or a condominium, should you be entitled to know whether there is a convicted sex offender living in the area? Should Canada\'s national sex offender registry be accessible by the public?

The recent media furor over convicted killer Karla Homolka raises the interesting questions of whether her former neighbours in a Montreal suburb knew her whereabouts, and whether anyone moving into the neighbourhood was entitled to know in advance that she lived there. Her current whereabouts is unknown.

Unlike many areas in the United States, Canada\'s sex offender registry is not public information and is only accessible by law enforcement agencies across the country.

When the registry was implemented at the end of last year, Deputy Prime Minister Anne McClellan announced that it was \"another demonstration of the government of Canada\'s commitment to enhance public safety and security � especially for children.\"

The database allows 60,000 police officers across the country to conduct a search to determine whether a sex offender lives at, or near, any particular address. It can only be used for the main purpose of investigating unsolved crimes of a sexual nature.

It cannot be used by a member of the public to determine whether they are living near, or about to move near, the residence of a person with a criminal record relating to a sex crime.

The federal government finally set up the national registry more than three years after the province of Ontario established its own provincial sex offender registry with the passage of Christopher\'s Lawin April, 2001.

The provincial registry was sparked by the brutal 1988 murder of 11-year-old Christopher Stephenson at the hands of a convicted pedophile on federal statutory release. At the 1993 inquest into Christopher\'s death, the coroner\'s jury recommended creating a national registry for convicted sex offenders, requiring them to register with their local police service.

The Canadian practice of restricting registry use to police forces contrasts sharply with the policy in many parts of the United States where sex offender registries are not only available to the public, but are instantly searchable without cost on the Internet.

Suppose, for example, that I wanted to buy a home or condominium in downtown Detroit, Michigan, zip code 48202, which I chose at random last week. Within a matter of seconds, I was able to visit the website of the state\'s public sex offender registry at http://www.mipsor.state.mi.us, and determine that I would have 37 neighbours who had been convicted of sex crimes. The neighbouring zip code 48203 yielded 82 hits, and 48204 listed 69 names.

Saginaw, Mi. zip code 48601 produced an incredible 152 hits.

The Michigan website lists the name, sex, birth date, height, weight, hair and eye colour, address, and offences of each person listed, and in most cases it also displays a photograph of the offender.

New York State has a similar registry at http://www.criminaljustice.state.ny.us/nsor for offenders who committed their crimes after Jan. 21, 1996. Other states have similar sites.

The United States Department of Justice is in the process of co-ordinating all of the state sex offender registries, with the stated goal of \"working with our state and local partners to keep our communities safe from sexual predators.\"

The department has launched a nationwide, Internet-based, searchable national sex offender public registry website. A statement on its website reads, \"The silent sex offender can be just as dangerous as notorious neighborhood gang members, and because of this we must keep parents and communities informed and engaged.\"

In a statement on the United States Department of Justice website (http://www.nsopr.gov), U.S. attorney general Alberto R. Gonzales said, \"The National Sex Offender Public Registry will provide one-stop access to registries from all 50 states and the District of Columbia by the end of the year. With this technology, every citizen will be able to search the latest information for the identity and location of known sex offenders. Sharing information with concerned citizens and parents is an integral part of our strategy to protect communities from these predators who wish to harm the most vulnerable among us.\"

The private sector is also involved in the field. A website at http://www.sexoffender.com offers a privately-run database, offering criminal background record searches to the public, and http://www.scanusa.com offers email alerts if a sex offender moves into any given zip code.

The latest development in the United States may foreshadow a trend for new subdivisions in the United States and possibly Canada. The Milwaukee Ridge development in Lubbock, Tex., with a planned 665 houses, will require background checks on all homeowners. Penalties may be enforced if owners sell to a convicted sex offender or allow one to live in their homes.

Neighbouring Brazoria, Tex. occupies zip code 77422, but there won\'t be any sex offenders there. Brazoria is banning sex offenders from living within its city limits.

A local bylaw prevents sex offenders from living within 1,000 feet of any place where children gather. That\'s every house in town but one. The ordinance also makes it a crime for landlords to rent knowingly to registered sex offenders.

Canadian legislation is far behind that in the United States when it comes to public disclosure of the whereabouts of convicted sex offenders.

In the end, it\'s a matter of balancing an individual\'s right to privacy with the public interest in protecting our communities and children from sexual predators.

Justice for the Death of Nathan Stewart aged 16

I am hoping in the face of humanity people will open their hearts and PETITION with me to no longer allow Nathan to be silenced. I hope his voice will finally be heard and the FIGHT for his JUSTICE OCCUR. We all need to make this life a safer place, for the best part of who we are, our children. My beautiful baby boy was taken from me avoidably too soon and if the tragic loss of his life can save another in a similar position, his death will not be completely in vain. The truth needs to be heard. Nathan was only 16 years old when his life was cut short by a stab wound to the heart. He was in the care of Graham McLeish, now known as Mark McLennan. THIS MAN IS RESPONSIBLE FOR NATHANS DEATH AND CHARGES NEED TO BE LAYED. These are the findings of the Coronial Inquest into Nathans death. Case No: 1134/05 �222. It is from this point on that the evidence Mr. McLeish�s contribution to Nathan�s death becomes more overwhelming. The evidence is that Mr. McLeish sought medical assistance for Nathan in the immediate wake of the injury. However, the evidence also is his failure to tell the true history of Nathan�s injury to the hospital misled the medical investigations. The evidence is that the accurate history of would have caused a different medical response and may well have resulted in the true extent of Nathan�s injury being discovered on his first presentation.� �224. The evidence is that Nathan�s prospects of survival from that injury with appropriate diagnosis and timely treatment were not in question. Mr. McLeish, despite his own views about what the hospital needed to know was told by his own friend whose counsel he sought early that morning that he should tell the truth. Throughout the day he made several calls seeking medical advice. It was all the same advice. Advice that he should return Nathan to the hospital and have him re assessed. Advice he did not take at any point up until it was too late. Even after Nathan lapsed into unconsciousness Mr. McLeish did not tell the truth to the treating paramedics or doctors� �225. I conclude from the weight of the evidence that had Nathan been returned to the hospital earlier in the day, even in the wake of the call McLeish made at about 2pm and then given a truth of the mechanism of Nathan�s injury Nathan�s prospects of a correct diagnosis and appropriate treatment and therefore survival would have been reasonable. �226. �In my view Graham McLeish�s failure to give a true account to the hospital of Nathan�s mechanism of injury, compounded by his failure to return Nathan to the hospital in circumstances where his condition remained unimproved and he was sufficiently worried to be calling for advice and receiving advice to return Nathan to the hospital contributed to Nathan�s death� . WHY HAS THIS MAN, 4 YEARS AFTER NATHAN DIED, STILL NOT BEEN HELD ACCOUNTABLE IN A COURT OF LAW FOR THE DEATH OF MY SON? BACKGROUND INFORMATION AND NATHAN'S FINAL DAYS Grahame McLeish, who was nominated as being adequate by the department of HUMAN SERVICES DANDENONG, had taken Nathan to hospital on the 31st of March, 2005 with a wound to his chest and wounds to his wrist SAYING that Nathan had been running while wearing socks to turn up his stereo and had slipped and fallen into a Louvre window which broke and that is how Nathan sustained his injuries. THAT was proven in the Coronial Inquest TO BE A LIE. Nathan was driven to the hospital by Graham McLeish who did not call an ambulance. Nathan was taken in via wheelchair, described as being pale, very distressed, gagging and vomiting violently and wretched. McLeish told medical staff he was Nathan�s stepfather. THAT IS A LIE. Nathan was put onto oxygen and treated for a NON-PENETRATING chest wound (falling glass) as the incident history McLeish supplied had implied this was the case. IT WAS NOT Nathan�s injury had been in fact caused by an 8cm KNIFE. Nathan needed treatment for a PENETRATING chest would as the knife had actually been plunged into him 6cm deep and wounding his heart. Nathan did not communicate with medical staff as McLeish insisted on doing all the talking. He only answered monosyllabically to where the pain was in his chest. The medical staff reported to the Coronial Inquest that they found it odd McLeish did not leave Nathan�s side AT ALL. Nathan�s chest was sutured and was released back into McLeish�s care after he was regarded as stable. He was still unwell, vomiting some bilious fluid as he left and dozing due to the morphine that he was given a few times in relation to his pain. He did not appear to be a child ready to go home. Nathan was in fact DYING from internal bleeding. The knife, not glass as reported by McLeish, had sliced 6mm through his heart. The skin, cartilage and muscle tissue in the chest area is described as tough like leather. To penetrate this area of the body requires tremendous and deliberate force. Nathan returned home with McLeish at 8.45 am. McLeish called the hospital later that day at 2pm as Nathan was still vomiting. He was told to bring Nathan back. HE DID NOT. At 6.30pm Nathan was still very ill and McLeish called a locum service for a doctor to see Nathan. He was told it was a 3-4 hour wait and was advised by the nurse who took the call, to take Nathan back to the hospital. HE DID NOT At 10.00pm again McLeish called the hospital reporting Nathan was very ill. The nurse who took the call reported hearing noises and McLeish said Nathan had fallen out of bed. The nurse advised him to bring him back to hospital. HE DID NOT. At 10.25pm finally McLeish called and ambulance as Nathan�s heart had stopped. Paramedics were able to restore circulation however Nathan had lost a considerable amount of blood and been without oxygen for a prolonged period of time. Nathan�s neurological state was very poor and his pupils were unresponsive to light. Nathan was pronounced dead by two doctors and life support was withdrawn at 6.05 pm on the 3rd of April, 2005. FACTS. If the injury was known by doctors was to be caused by a knife different investigations and treatments would have been CONDUCTED by the hospital. Nathan would have had the URGENT MEDICAL ATTENTION he required. He WOULD have made a full recovery. HE WOULD still be here today. MCLEISH WAS FULLY AWARE OF THE NATURE OF HIS INJURY AND THE FACT IT WAS A KNIFE. NATHAN BECAME CRITICALLY ILL OVER A 10 HOUR PERIOD AND LAY DYING WHILE MCLEISH KEPT LYING. WHY?? WHAT DID HE HAVE TO HIDE? EVIDENCE OF MCLEISH�S CONTRIBUTION AND GROSS MISCONDUCT & CRIMINAL NEGLIGENCE. 1. Here was a man fully aware of the nature of Nathans injury and refused to take him to hospital 3 times when advised to. McLeish has been fraudulent in the past and portrayed himself as a solicitor involved in criminal and family law for many, many years. He was in fact a law clerk. He lied about Nathan�s injury; he lied about being Nathan�s father. What else is he lying about? 2.THERE WAS A DOCTORS SURGERY DIRECTLY ACROSS THE ROAD THAT WAS OPEN THAT EVENING ,TO JUST AFTER 5PM,where he had been himself before and could have gone and sought urgent medical attention ,either by taking Nathan there or requesting a doctor come see Nathan as he lay in bed incapacitated and critically ill. 3.HE HAD MADE A PHONE CALL TO THE HOSPITAL AT 2PM CONCERNED ABOUT NATHANS VOMITING ALL DAY AND WAS ASKED IF HE WAS CONCERNED TO BRING HIM BACK AND HIS VOMITING WAS UNLIKELY DUE TO MORPHINE BECAUSE OF THE TIME THAT HAD LAPSED AND SAID HE WAS HIS.. FATHER... 4. THE HOSPITAL WAS A 7 MINIUTE DRIVE OR LESS. 5.NATHAN WAS SO CRITICALLY ILL, THAT MCLEISH ORDED HIMSELF A PIZZA AND DECIDED TO EAT IT DOWN STAIRS AS NATHAN WAS SO ILL AND VOMITING & DRY WREACHING,WAS DESRCIBED AS SWEATY AND PALE,WOULD HAVE, I IMAGINE BEEN FAR MORE DISTRESSED THAN HE WAS IN HOSPITAL ON HIS FIRST ADMISSION AS HE WAS GETTING WORSE NOT BETTER AND DYING. 6. MCLEISH BURNT NATHAN�S T/SHIRT, HIS DIARY ��HIS EXPLANATION WAS THAT THE T/SHIRT WAS BLOODIED AND YET DIDN�T BURN NATHANS BLOODIED PANTS OR SOCKS?? 7. WHEN NATHAN PRESENTED THE FIRST TIME TO THE HOSPITAL THE WOUND WAS GAPING BUT DRY AND HIS WRIST WOUNDS WERE ALSO CLEAN AND DRY AND HE WAS WEARING A CLEAN T/SHIRT WITH NO BLOOD ON IT�� 8. EVIDENCE BY A PROFESSIONAL SAID HE WAS SURPRISED AT NATHANS CHEST WOUND BEING DRY & WOULD HAVE EXPECTED IT TO HAVE BEEN ACTIVELY BLEEDING FOR 45 MINIUTES OR MORE, which allows you to see that Nathan wasn�t taken straight away to hospital and was instead cleaned of blood loss evidence. Bare in mind he was described as being wretched and violently vomiting and been brought in via a wheel chair. How much had he suffered before finally getting medical attention? 9. WHY DID MCLEISH BREAK THE WINDOW TO CORROBORATE HIS STORY TO THE POLICE!!!! Obama isnt doing anything for our country and it will only get worse. He has already shown racism towards the actions that any police officer would have done to protect his own and others lives. Obama has given more attention to other countries then America, we are sinking fast and soon the homeless and poverty rate will sky rocket along with unemployment and violence. Im not a smart political man, heck my spellin isnt always great but one thing i am, is a man that loves the U.S.A and Obama is the acid that will undo our making. Taking away our rights as he has shown he is doing now. 1926 Census, Ireland

We the undersigned petition the Taoiseach [Prime Minister] of Ireland, Mr. Brian Cowen TD, to use the powers vested in his office under section 33 (3) of the Statistics Act 1993 to release the complete returns for the 1926 census.

Catastrophic destruction befell Irish sources for genealogy and history when the Public Record Office of Ireland was consumed by fire in June 1922. The 1926 census was the first compiled since the foundation of the State and includes a few basic facts about the lives of the many Irish people then living who were born before civil registration began in Ireland in 1864. Over 82 years have passed since the 1926 census was first compiled and given this almost every adult alive at that time is now deceased.

In the USA census returns are released 71 years after their compilation. Currently the returns for all surviving US censuses (along with indexes) up to and including that for 1930 can be seen on the Internet. In Ireland, there is a precedent for earlier release of census records. The 1911 census was first made available for research purposes in 1961, only 50 years after it had been compiled. We believe that as the data recorded in the 1926 census was almost identical to that recorded in the 1911 census, then the issue of breach of confidentiality will not arise. We implore the Taoiseach to make the 1926 census returns available to public consultation.

New Mexico State Sen. Sue Wilson Beffort has proposed a bill that would ban the breeding of American Pitbull Terriers. If this bill is passed the breeding of pit bulls would be prohibited, owners of existing pit bulls would be required to neuter or spay the dogs as well as muzzle their dogs any time they are outside their home and new pit bulls will not be permitted in New Mexico after July 1, 2005. We as citizens of The United States of America believe that we have the right to own any breed of dog we choose, where as we also agree that there should be harsher laws on irresponsible dog owners and animal abusers. Zamenhof was a Polish linguist who in 1887 wrote the Unua Libro, a book detailing the rules of the international language Esperanto. Esperanto is the easiest language to learn. An estimated 2 million people around the world speak it. In today's world, many languages are becoming extinct and Esperanto will help to preserve those languages. Esperanto will save translation costs. Esperanto will cut down languages barriers between nations. An international language will be a major step to world peace. With this reform and a few adjustments, it will significantly reduce the number of uninsured, people will get free choice of doctors and hospitals, there will be no deductibles or bills or co pays, you won�t get denied Medicare for pre-existing conditions, there will be no deaths due to lack of care or insurance, it will be cheaper and affordable Visioncoast says � Most people who don�t have insurance pay about $400+for what they need and if you go to a hospital to get a PET scan or something it will cost at least $3000-$6000 to get health insurance to cover it.� But, patients won�t have free will to choose from options, there won�t be patient confidentiality, and as a result of this fewer doctors may enter the profession. Obama said �I will not sign on any health reform plan that adds to our deficits over the next decade.� Don�t let your judgments take away your caring hearts. People, students, fellow Americans, speak out and let your voices be heard. I believe this could work with adjustments.

We the under signed petition The Michigan House of Representatives and The Michigan Senate to pass the following Resolution. A RESOLUTION OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN REQUESTING THAT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT REPEAL RESTRICTIONS ON THE PRODUCTION OF INDUSTRIAL HEMP AS AN AGRICULTURAL AND INDUSTRIAL PRODUCT. WHEREAS, it is a current major economic goal to diversify the agriculture of Michigan; and WHEREAS, although industrial hemp is often mistakenly associated with marijuana, it is a different plant, with little or no tetrahydrocannabinol or narcotic properties, so Michigan farmers should not be prohibited from expanding agricultural practices to the growing of industrial hemp; and WHEREAS, in over 30 countries, including Canada, England, France, Germany, Japan, and Australia, existing international treaties provide for the agricultural production and sale of industrial hemp as a valuable agricultural product; and WHEREAS, industrial hemp has been used in the manufacture of paper, paints, clothing, plastics, cosmetics, food, fuel, and animal feed and can grow to maturity in 100 days without the necessity of pesticides; and WHEREAS, current United States federal policy prevents the American agricultural production of industrial hemp while foreign hemp is being imported, at a loss of millions of dollars to American farm families; and WHEREAS, current federal policy is inconsistent with international agricultural policy and places an unnecessary financial restriction on the Michigan agricultural community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN: That the House of Representative of the State of Michigan urge the federal government to repeal restrictions on the production of industrial hemp as an agricultural and industrial product. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Secretary of State send a copy of this resolution to all appropriate federal agencies that have authority over the current policy prohibiting the production of industrial hemp.
