Keep Afflecks Palace open

Afflecks Palace is an alternative, world famous shopping centre, and is the heart of Manchester's Northern Quarter. Like the Coliseum before it, the company that owns the building is now planning to develop it into something else, probably flats, or to increase the rent dramatically for the existing stallholders. People come to Manchester from all over the country, and all over the world, with Afflecks being a major draw in this. It inspires trends and sustains the vibrant youth cultures that Manchester is known for, because the way it is set up allows entrepreneurs to start up there cheaply. For Afflecks to close would mean a major blow to the cultural heart of the city, which must not be underestimated. Even if it were to remain open, a major increase in rents (the proposed figures include doubling the current rent) would mean that many of the stallholders would be forced out of business. We understand that Manchester is a popular, thriving city (and we wouldn't have it any other way)and that this means that people want to live in the city centre. But for somewhere as iconic as Afflecks Palace to close will take Manchester that bit closer to being like anyother city, and losing a major part of its identity. We cannot allow this to happen.

Now the things are going much better, IT industry, in Serbia, is developing very rapidly, and the number of active internet users, credit card owners, and the users of many other online services, is growing from day to day. There are also thousands of internet users, in Serbia, which are in some online trading business, but they are all partly handicapped, because Serbia is not on a list of almost every major payment service. One of them is PayPal, which was discussed countless numbers of times on Serbian domestic forums, blogs, but also in a private conversations. We are confident that entrance of PayPal service in Serbia will make possible, for thousands of internet entrepreneurs, undisturbed practice of their online business. We are using this petition to address to PayPal management to think about this step, and to think about Serbia as a potential online market. It’s a shame that Serbia’s neighbor countries are going with a time, though they have much lesser IT potential then Serbia. Let’s do this in mutual benefit.

For many, many years we as avid and truly devoted Crimson Tide fans have inducted this special place simply known as "The Strip" into our crimson hearts. Over the years, this beloved place has developed into a literal icon that each and every individual Crimson Tide fan cherishes so tenderly. The strip has become, not only an icon we highly hold so deeply in our hearts, but a habitual tradition for those who reside in Tuscaloosa and visit Tuscaloosa on a frequent or annual basis... From savethestrip.com: "The University of Alabama in efforts to "diversify" the Strip has begun aggressively purchasing property along the Strip. The first piece to go was at 12th Ave and University Blvd. This building contained the beloved bar, The Booth which was forced to shut down November 2006. The other business in this building are Pepitos Mexican Restaurant, Lai Lai's Chinese Restaurant and Cheap Shots Bar. The University has stated that once these tenant's leases run out, they will not be renewed. The University has expressed interest in the historic, 70 year old building currently housing the Alabama Book Store which has been operating their family business in that location since 1942. Gallettes Bar/Campus Party Store is also on the list. We don't think its right for tax dollars and/or University gifts to be used to reduce/eliminate bookstore/souvenir competition to the University's Supply Store." Sources continue to tell us that the university also has plans to construct a parking garage once they have full control over the land (That idea is just absurd!). This will not stand! We as people who devote so much of our precious time on this highly appreciated piece of land, do not want this special place taken away from us! WE DO NOT BELIEVE IN EMANATE DOMAIN! Innocent businesses will be shut down FOREVER! We must rise up as a body of dedicated students, alumni, fans, faculty, loved ones, and friends; and show our respected university that they can't take away something that so many of their true supporters strongly hold in their Crimson Hearts! On September 9th, you will have to be 18+ to go to the Holyoke Mall on Fridays and Saturdays, or you will have to have a parent with you, when you go to the mall. The mall is supposed to be a place where you can meet up with friends and possibly buy something. Just because someone is under the age of 18 does not mean they should not be allowed to get together with their friends and shop. I understand that some teenagers might cause trouble, but I am sure everyone at some point in their childhood has. So I believe that the Holyoke Mall should remain for everyone of every age.

On November 19th, 2006, Wal-Mart will end a long standing program- Layaway. Items will no longer be able to be put on layaway at any of their many stores. They hope to save money by ending a program aimed at low income and mid-level income families. This program helps many people get the items they need, while being able to save for it, and ensure the item is still in stock when they can afford it. The new alternative? Put America in debt with a Wal-mart brand credit card. Tell the company what you think about this! Sign the petition, but also contact your local Wal-mart with feedback. We the consumers of Wal-Mart stores are not happy with your decision to do away with the layaway department. This corporation is getting away from Sam Walton's dream and becoming money hungry. It was stated that Layaway was not a profitable department for your company anymore; how can that be? If someone doesn't come in and pickup/cancel a layaway then any monies paid are therefore forfeited and your company gains profit. Matmice closed on September 22nd 2008. This was a great loss to millions of members, people that had grown within the community of the site, people that had gained valuable internet experience, and people that had made great friends. Petition Against MB18 at the Holyoke Mall

Taking effect September 9th of this year, the Holyoke Mall will be enforcing a policy known as MB18. This policy will require visitors under the age of 18 to be accompanied by parents or guardians on Friday and Saturday nights, from 4 pm until closing. There will be security officers posted at every door to check id's of persons appearing to be under 18. If they are willing to do this, why not set up an identification system for those under 18. You could apply for one that will allow you to go to the mall once or twice a week. A 3 strike rule can be adopted, that if you are warned 3 times, your id card will be confiscated. It could cost $5.00 for a new id so that the mall can have some benefits. Its said that it is a few causing the problems, but its rising. So if we deal with the few now, it won't have to be spoiled for all. This policy is also set up so that teenagers can still shop at stores with exterior entrances. Is this fair business opportunity for the stores that do not have outside access. Many of the interior stores are geared toward growing adults and their profits might dwindle. Does this mean that if my mom brought me to the mall, she has to hold my hand along the way and go into every store with me? I will end up walking to a store my mom has no interest in, and the mall security will get me and tell my mom to come to the other side of the mall. Would your mom or you (as a parent) want to be hassled? If you were our age, would you agree? Another problem i see with this policy is how its limiting my opportunity to purchase items at the mall. I, like many other highschool students, take part in many activities during the week, such as sports, afterschool activities, jobs of our own, and many of us have substantial amounts of homework. I tend to go to the mall once or twice a week, and its usually on a Friday or Saturday. They are the only days that many of us have time to go. Mall workers under 18 are exempt from this policy. Does it make sence that if we are old enough to work alongside adults, often much older than us, that we cannot shop or spend our cash as equally as they do? Mayor Michael J. Sullivan says that he "hopes it will inspire young teens to spend more time with their parents" and take advantage of recreational activities made available by the city. Teenagers, for the most part, are adventurous. They want to get out with their friends. You can't make someone spend more time with their parents if they didn't want to in the first place. As for the activities, although his speech may have been geared towards Holyoke, I do not see many activities put forth by the city. It seems that there are less and less available. My parents, along with many other adults I know, talk of the many things they did as children and always talk of how us "kids" these days have nothing to do. Well, for us, the mall was somewhere to go, and now that option has been taken away. The mall is somewhere to go shop, and maybe have some chit chat about current events. It keeps many teens occupied so that theyre not sitting at home or causing trouble out on the streets. Like it is said, "idle hands are the devil's tools." I have to admit PayPal is a necessity in conducting business online. Ebay is one of those site I wish I can use to it's full extend. The only safe method of paying on Ebay is definitely PayPal. As not all of us (especially we who do not have a steady income yet) can obtain a credit card. Thus Paypal becomes the only media we can use to buy/sell online. Paypal however, does not list Indonesia on it's country list. Why? I have no idea whatsoever. We need Paypal to work with Indonesia's local banks and make possible the option to add funds to Indonesian Paypal accounts through Indonesian banks such as BCA, BII, BNI, Lippobank and others. In short we need Paypal to be available for Indonesian people, as we also can contribute so much to the world's E-Commerce.

Save Point Dume Plaza from being changed!

As a 15 year old student of Malibu High, me and my friends as well as adults are discouraged at what is about to happen over at Point Dume Plaza. It has come to our attention that they are going to kick out all the good resturants and other good stores to make new probably fashion boutiques and expensive resturants. We love our little resturants and such, and destroying them to make way for these probably over-expensive things is unbearable to watch. We have many little resturants like a point pizza, a place called Lilies, two banks, and a video store called zuma video. If they take these places away, we'd have to go all the way out to Cross Creek or even farther. Most of us who live on Point Dume need these places like the Bank of America or Washington Mutual. If the people in the business think that making these places will help rake in money or help tourism, well they're dead wrong. If they want to build these things, they should build them in Beverly Hills or somewhere where we don't need to worry about. So please help by signing this petition and don't change the Plaza!

I, Mike Bassler, believe that the upcoming game, World of Warcraft is much too overpriced. Blizzard is asking for excessive amounts of money, amounts that I'm sure the general gaming community does not want or is not able to pay. Let's take my case for example. My brother and I were both beta testers in the final open beta. We were quite disappointed when Blizzard announced that the accounts would be wiped after there were rumors that they would carry over into retail; rumors which Blizzard chose not to silence. So, let's assume that my brother and I gather up the money to buy World of Warcraft on release day; how much money would that require? -Cost of one year's gameplay on World of Warcraft- $49.99 - My copy of the game 77.95 - My first 6 month subscription 77.95 - My second 6 month subscription 49.99 - My brother's copy of the game 77.95 - My brother's first 6 month subscription + 77.95 - My brother's second 6 month subscription -------------------------------------------------- $411.74 Some people may readily provide that amount of money, and Blizzard may find demanding such an amount of money acceptable. I, for one, do not, and I'm sure that there are many other people out there who agree. There are many alternatives. Big Corporations Bullying Small Businesses

Floyd's 99 Barber Shop is a well known chain of salons all overt the Country. Some of the methods Floyd's has used to expand and maintain their market position include buying out competitors' leases, and clustering several locations in a small geographical area (i.e., saturating the market). This is an unfair attempt to drive out small, independent competitors, who can not afford to pay inflated prices for real estate. Floyd's market-entry strategy involves first finding a market's leading independent Salon, and then going to the landlord of that Salon and buying the lease out from under them, or right next door, and replacing the shop with a Floyd's 99 Barber Shop. As is common in Los Angeles, the existing Salon is forced to move or go out of business. Hairroin Salon is a small business owned by a 26 year old female struggling in this economy during a financial crisis. Floyd's is now trying to buy out the space next door to Hairroin Salon. Hairroin has been successfully operating in the space for 3 years. Please be advised that I will NEVER spend a dollar at the Floyd's Cahuenga Street location, nor any other Floyd's 99 Barber Shop for that matter. Featured Core mark. Products In All Magalogs

We, the mark. Representatives all across America feel that it is very unprofessional that a lot of the core products we need for everyday use, are not included in every single magalog. We should be able to show customers/potential customers that many mark. products are available for purchasing, without carrying around previous magalogs. It looks very unprofessional, and of course it's a hassle to carry around extra magalogs. How are customers/potential customers going to know, that the products they are looking for have either been discontinued or don�t exist at all? They need to see all the products we have to offer. With much respect to Avon (mark.'s mother company), it is unfair that mark. Representatives are treated unequally. We should be able to feature ALL core products such as, the Behaving Skin and Misbehaving Skin line, Eyemarker Color On Line eyeliners, Lip Mark-It Color On linelip liners, etc. We hope that you can look into this problem, and it can result in having many of the already existing products featured in each magalog. Save the real Newton Center Starbucks

Starbucks has included the orginal "Train Station" Starbucks in their closure list. Although the official closing date has not been announced, it could be closed any time between August and March of 2009.

Rather than close the newer, "McStarbucks" on Center Street, Starbucks has chosen to close what has to be one of the most unique locations it has. The old train station location is spacious, airy, and welcoming. My kids have enjoyed the passing trains and great Starbucks staff for years.

Mr. Shultz, please be advised that I will NEVER spend a dollar at the Center Street location, nor any other Starbucks for that matter. There is a Peets Coffee and Tea location in Newton Center as well, and they will be getting my daily business going forward if you proceed with this closing.

Please sign this petition and let Mr. Shultz know that closing the train station location is not in the best interest of Newton or Starbucks.

2015 is too long a wait for reopening of the Navan rail line

I fully support re-opening of commuter rail services to Meath, and believe that living in Meath and working in Dublin will be made much easier by the reintroduction of rail services. I believe that Phase 1 of the plan to Dunboyne (due to be completed by 2009) isn't a real rail solution for Meath as 9/10 of the line will be in Dublin. The entire Navan railway line must be reopened as soon as possible, not in 10 years time. It originally took less that 3 years to clear & build the 26 mile Navan line by hand, with picks and shovels. Work commenced in Oct 1859 and was completed in Aug 1862 - with modern technology using old route, surely the line can be reopened much earlier than 2015? In the meantime, please open the existing Navan to Dublin freight line (via Drogheda) to commuter trains as a 65mins journey is far better than the 2hr commutes currently facing Meath Commuters. I believe that the Meath on track proposals must be met immediately, and without prevarication to protect our economy and quality of life. Repeal Smoking Ban in Ohio

The new Ohio smoking ban as taken effect to the detriment of business owner of many different types. The two that were placed on the ballots were confusing to say the least and were not written for the majority of the people voting and as such the people were purposely deceived. The question to the people to allow or not allow smoking in bars, restaurants or any business should be left up to the business owner. If the ballot was understood then the non-smokers would seem to want non-smoking establishments and those that choose to remain non-smoking will obviously fare better than those that do allow smoking. The main theme was is that you do not have to patron a place that allows smoking as businesses will be allowed to have or not have a smoking establishment. This petition will gauge interest in taking steps for a more formal drive to have a re-peal put on the ballot that would be written so that is no ambiguity placed in the wording by the government.
