Michael Jackson Nomination 2010 Nobel Peace Prize

Dear Norwegian Nobel Committee,

We the undersigned, would like to nominate legendary performing artist and global humanitarian Michael Jackson for the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize. He was and will continue to be one of the most famous, and influential men on earth.

Michael’s message for humankind has always been rooted in compassion, and kindness. He has succeeded a lifelong dedication to the well being of humanity. Moving beyond all political, social, and economic borders Michael Jackson consistently spread a positive message of global unity, healing, and love.

Michael Jackson endlessly devoted his life to helping others in their darkest time of need. It would be nearly impossible to count the multiple hundreds of millions of dollars Michael has donated to charity from his own finances, charity organizations, and also through his organizing of major fund raising events.

In 1984, Michael Jackson was severely burned while filming a commercial for the Pepsi Cola Company. Michael was awarded $1.5 million in the court settlement, which he donated to the Michael Jackson Burn Center.

The 1985 charity fund raising song ‘We Are The World’ was co-written and organized by Michael Jackson. The song was recorded in an effort to help aid famine-relief in Ethiopia. To date the song has generated over $60 million in relief aid for the charity.

The most impressive global contribution Michael Jackson has made to humanity was his 1992 creation of the Heal The World Foundation. Michael’s foundation is responsible for educating children about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse, donating millions of dollars to poverty stricken children in need, and airlifting 46 tons of supplies to war torn Sarajevo.

In 1994, Michael Jackson pledged $120,000 from the Heal The World Foundation to pay the cost of a liver transplant for an abandoned Hungarian child by the name of Bela Farkas. This is the type of giving that led to Michael being listed under the entry “Most Charities Supported By A Pop Star” in the year 2000 Guiness Book of World Records. Michael Jackson also continued to contribute to charities for the survivors of Hurricane Katrina, and the victims families of the attacks on 9/11/01.

We the Undersigned, believe Michael Jackson has given of himself completely and selflessly in a lifelong effort to help better global conditions for children, and all of humankind. Please consider Michael Jackson whole heartedly as the nominee, and recipient for the distinguished honor of this most prestigious award.

Michael Jackson has undoubtably earned the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize.

Sincerely,

Anneliese Nichole Brown

We the Undersigned, would like Michael Jackson\'s Heal the World Foundation to accept this 2010 Nobel Peace Prize petition nomination, in honor of the late, yet great, Michael Jackson.

This addition to the petition is aimed at eliminating any controversy as to whether or not, Michael Jackson is an eligible nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize, posthumously.

In 1961, Dag Hammarskjöld, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize posthumously. Let us also honor Michael Jackson for his lifelong efforts of Intense, and Unforgettable Global Humanitarian efforts. The rest of the petition follows below. Thank you.

In addition to this petition, it has recently been brought to my attention that the Michael Jackson Burn Center was officially renamed as such in Michael Jackson\'s honor. The renaming took place after Michael donated his entire proceeds from the court case settlement with Pepsi Cola Company to the burn center. This was approximately (and during the 1980\'s), an incredible $1.5 Million donation to the burn center. This court settlement was agreed upon by both parities, as a result from the severe second, and third degree burns Michael Jackson endured. These burns were caused by malfunctioning on-set pyrotechnics, a terrible accident which caught Michael\'s scalp on fire during the filming of a commercial for the soda Pop giant in the mid 1980\'s. Michael Jackson is still the ultimate definition of a TRUE HUMANITARIAN.

An Urgent Appeal: Please Release Our Friends in Iraq

An Urgent Appeal: Please Release Our Friends in Iraq

Four members of Christian Peacemaker Teams were taken this past Saturday, November 26, in Baghdad, Iraq. They are not spies, nor do they work in the service of any government. They are people who have dedicated their lives to fighting against war and have clearly and publicly opposed the invasion and occupation of Iraq. They are people of faith, but they are not missionaries. They have deep respect for the Islamic faith and for the right of Iraqis to self-determination.

C.P.T. first came to Iraq in October 2002 to oppose the US invasion, and it has remained in the country throughout the occupation in solidarity with the Iraqi people. The group has been invaluable in alerting the world to many of the horrors facing Iraqis detained in US-run prisons and detention centers. C.P.T. was among the first to document the torture occurring at the Abu Ghraib prison, long before the story broke in the mainstream press. Its members have spent countless hours interviewing Iraqis about abuse and torture suffered at the hands of US forces and have disseminated this information internationally.

Each of the four C.P.T. members being held in Iraq has dedicated his life to resisting the darkness and misery of war and occupation. Convinced that it is not enough to oppose the war from the safety of their homes, they made the difficult decision to go to Iraq, knowing that the climate of mistrust created by foreign occupation meant that they could be mistaken for spies or missionaries. They went there with a simple purpose: to bear witness to injustice and to embody a different kind of relationship between cultures and faiths. Members of C.P.T. willingly undertook the risks of living among Iraqis, in a common neighborhood outside of the infamous Green Zone. They sought no protection from weapons or armed guards, trusting in, and benefiting from, the goodwill of the Iraqi people. Acts of kindness and hospitality from Iraqis were innumerable and ensured the C.P.T. members’ safety and wellbeing. We believe that spirit will prevail in the current situation.

We appeal to those holding these activists to release them unharmed so that they may continue their vital work as witnesses and peacemakers.

Danish newspaper ( Jyllands-Posten and its Editor-in-chief Carsten Juste and sevral cartoonists) offended almost 1 billion Muslims around the world by publishing a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammed seen as a terrorist carrying bombs on his head! This is not just offending Muslims, it is also offending the whole world, since Prophets of God are messengers of peace that came to spread peace an good well to all people this includes as well: Prophet Moses, Prophet Jesus, Prophet Noah, Prophet Abraham.. etc.
'Denmark has offended millions of Muslims. Muslims are not in doubt at any rate that they have been slandered.'

There are thousands of issued fatwas(religious decree) declaring that the British author, Salman Rushdie, should be executed for having insulted Islam in his novel "The Satanic Verses"(Shetani ayatain) published in late 1988.
"Muslims of the world have always considered Salman Rushdie an apostate and shall not rest until he is given his Punishment"

Taslima Nasreen has been living in europe for last 10 years. She lived in Sweden andGermany . Now she is living in France. Trials are still going on for Blasphemy against Taslima Nasreen in Bangladesh court. One case was filed by Bangladesh Government.

Europin Union Should arrest these Persons and should be given to Muslim Custody to Justice as they have played with the emotions of muslims.

Appeal to the UN on the Situation in Iran

H.E. Mr. Martin Ihoeghian Uhomoibhi
President of the United Nations Human Rights Council

cc: Members of the Human Rights Council

Sub: Appeal for a Special Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council on the Human Rights Situation in the Islamic Republic of Iran

Your Excellency,

Omid Advocates for Human Rights and the undersigned groups and individuals call upon the UN Human Rights Council to hold a Special Session on the current human rights situation in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

We welcome the statement by Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon urging Iran’s leaders to reflect and respect in a “most transparent and fair and objective manner” the will of the Iranian people in the recent election. We also appreciate the Secretary-General’s expression of concern for the current situation in Iran.

Following Secretary-General’s statement, we appeal to Council members to address the ongoing human rights violations against Iranians concerning their right to life and freedom of expression and assembly. We urge Council members to examine closely the violent crackdown on peaceful demonstrations throughout Iran. We also urge Council members to protect the rights of individuals and groups in Iran to peacefully exercise their rights to freedom of expression, association, and assembly, including participation in activities, which dissent from state policies and practices. Finally, we urge you to call for the immediate release of all those currently detained for the peaceful exercise of their rights and for the protection of any detainee from torture or other ill-treatment.

Widespread and reliable information regarding ongoing human rights violations, including at least 8 deaths and numerous arrests against those demanding freedom of expression and the right to a fair election, makes it imperative that the Human Rights Council as the principal human rights organ of the United Nations take urgent measures by convening a special session to address the current situation in Iran.

We urge the Council to immediately call upon the Iranian authorities to receive a joint mission of Special Procedures mandate-holders on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary execution and other relevant mandates such as the Special Rapporteur on Torture, the Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Opinion and Expression and the Special Representative of Secretary-General on Human Rights Defenders.

We remain at your disposal for any further information or consultation on this urgent matter.

Thank you very much for attention to this appeal.

Yours sincerely,

This is a petition to get FOX News to do a segment on the truth about pitbulls. How they are not naturally aggressive and how with the proper respectful owners that make greta pets for children and families. It's time we as respectful owners and breeders show the public the truth about these dogs instead of hiding behind the lies and being too scared to say anything in case Pits get banned in our area. Hiding isnt saving these dogs. Waiting untill there is a policy in place to ban the dogs is too late. We need to pull together now to help this breed of dog we all love so much.

Release Italian & Iraqi Aid Workers Kidnapped in Iraq & End Occupation of Iraq

THEY ARE NOT INSTRUMENTS OF THE OCCUPYING FORCES

We are individuals and organizations from around the world who opposed and continue to oppose the occupation of Iraq and we plead for the release of two Italian and two Iraqi humanitarian workers who were abducted in Iraq last September 7, 2004.

Simona Pari and Simona Torretta, both Italians, and Ra'ad Ali Abdul Azziz and Mahnoaz Bassam, both Iraqis, are members of Un Ponter Per Baghdad (Bridges to Baghdad) an independent Italian humanitarian organization that has been working in Iraq since 1992. During the embargo, other humanitarianorganizations refused to operate in Iraq, Bridges defied that in the belief that the suffering of civilians should not be used as a political bargaining chip.

In this occupation, the United States and its coalition cynically blurred the distinction between the humanitarian and the political, using aid and relief as an apparatus for pacifying the Iraqis. As a result, Iraqis have become increasingly and understandably suspicious of international humanitarian organizations. Despite the perils caused by this confusion, Bridges consciously decided to continue its operations in Iraq, convinced that Iraqis will see through their intentions.

Bridges is not an instrument of the Italian government, nor of the US-led coalition, to make the occupation more bearable, and therefore, more acceptable to the Iraqis. From the very beginning, Bridges has been open and consistent with its positions: it opposed the embargo, it opposed the invasion, and it opposes the occupation. In Italy, Bridges has been a leading critic of the government's decision to join the US-led coalition.

It plays a leading role in the nation-wide movement that mobilized over a million Italians to march against the war in February 15, 2003, as well as in various demonstrations after. Bridges has also been very active in the global anti-war movement, maintaining links with various anti-war organizations around the world and playing a key role in establishing the Occupation Watch Center in Baghdad, a center for monitoring the occupation founded by anti-war organizations and coalitions from different countries.

Simona Torretta has spent a third of her life for Iraq; Simona Pari joined her in 2003. As chief of Bridges' in-country operations, Simona Turreta has been supervising projects to rehabilitate Iraq's decrepit water infrastructure and to repair school buildings. Among other things, Simona Pari was organizing educational programs for Iraq's traumatized children. Ra'ad is an Iraqi engineer who took charge of Bridges' school projects in Baghdad and Basra. Manaf was involved in the social programs. Aside from these projects, Bridges has also helped build the capacity of local Iraqi organizations to document and report cases of human rights abuses committed by occupation forces. In April this year, Bridges organized a humanitarian convoy that delivered food, water, blood, and medicine to civilians under siege in Fallujah. Last month, as US and Iraqi interim government forces mounted their offensive in Najaf, Bridges was also there, providing aid and assistance to Iraqis caught in the crossfire. Simona, Simona, Ra'¹d and Mahnoaz are not enemies of the Iraqi people. They stand shoulder-to-shoulder with them in calling for an immediate end to the occupation. We appeal to those holding them to release them immediately.

We also call on the Italian government to immediately withdraw its membership in the US-led coalition. We call on the United States and the remaining members of the coalition to end the occupation.

Since the Iranian government has blocked the internet and mobile phone reception and have thrown foreign journalists out of the country and Iranian journalists into jail, we can\'t access up to the minute images of the protests that are going on, even now as we speak. We need Google to upload new images of Tehran and other cities so we can follow the movement of protesters.

Right now Iran is trying to pass off this movement as a small insignificant protest, we need the proof that it\'s a nationwide movement!

BlackPlanet.com Stands Against Racism

We, the members of BlackPlanet.com, the world's largest online community for African-Americans and people of African descent everywhere, are outraged at the recent publication of a racist cartoon in the pages of the New York Post, a daily newspaper owned and operated by one of the largest media corporations in the world, News Corporation.

The cartoon, created by Sean Delonas, depicts a dead chimpanzee, just shot dead by two white police officers who exclaim: "They'll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill."

According to the editors at the Post, this cartoon plays off the recent, sensationalized shooting of an actual chimpanzee in Connecticut.

But given that this cartoon is displayed one page after a picture of President Barack Obama; given the random connection made to Obama's recently-signed economic stimulus plan; given the editorial animosity of the New York Post to Obama; and given the racist, bigoted history of the cartoonist, Mr. Delonas; it's very easy to infer that the Post and the cartoonist are likening American's first Black president to an ape.

The African-ape comparison is unconscionable, a centuries' old cliche, a favorite of white supremacists everywhere. So, too, is the threat of police violence and brutality against African-Americans. So, for that matter, is the specter of assassination of an American president.
And whether the editors and cartoonists meant to make these comparisons, or were merely comfortable riding the edge, we declare that this is inexcusable, intolerable conduct in a multicultural society.

The New York Post and Mr. Delonas are entitled to their "free speech." We are also entitled to protest, with our voices, our bodies and our pocketbooks, if necessary.

The era for this kind of "humor" has passed. We stand alongside well- meaning Americans of all races and ethnicities to condemn this cynical, backward, racist cartoon, and its publisher.

We demand an apology from the News Corporation and the New York Post.

We want government intervention in the Schapelle Corby case

Time is running out for Schapelle Corby. A fun holiday to Bali quickly turned nasty for the 27 year old Queenslander late last year when Indonesian customs authorities found 4.1 kg of marijuana in her bodyboard bag. Now she faces the death penalty for a crime of which it seems highly unlikely to be guilty.

A poorly handled investigation and bungles with evidence - both in Indonesia and here in Australia - has made it all but impossible for Schapelle's legal team to prove her innocence. All they can do is cast doubt over the evidence presented by the prosecution, which, it seems, is unlikely to do much to save her from a fate in front of a firing squad.

For a thorough understanding of Schapelle's situation, click on the photo on this page to be taken to a story that appeared in The Age on 5 March. The probability of the drugs having been planted in Schapelle's bodyboard bag by someone with security access to the baggage handling area is high and it's alarming that our government hasn't done more to help Corby with this in mind.

Alexander Downer, John Howard and even Kim Beasley have all pledged to do what they can, yet in the same breath have each expressed their faith in the Indonesian legal process. Given what we know of the manner in which the trial has been conducted so far, that faith seems questionable at best.

Let's let our government know that we want them to adopt the more proactive and decisive approach Schapelle's case demands. This could happen to any one of us - wouldn't you expect your government to step in if it was you?

This petition is a cry for peace,

On the evening of 7th September 2008, Mr. Amir Liaquat of Geo TV, in his program “Aalim Online” touched the topic of Khatm-e-Nabuwat. This topic, no doubt, is of utmost importance to every Muslim and absolutely sacred one. The topic should have been explained to the audience in the light of Islamic teachings. But, as usual, the discussion was deviated off the main point and it drifted towards the controversial topic of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (more commonly known as qadianis) . The Sunni cleric or Moulvi sahib started abusing rather accusing Ahmadis for not believing in the Khatm-e-Nabuwwat and further said that anybody not believing in the concept was WAJIB-UL-QATAL (obligatory to be killed) . He did not stop even at that. The molvi sahib, as though it was vital for true explanation of the issue, started abusing Mirza Sahib the founder of the Ahmadiyya community. Mr Liaquat seemed to be on the same lines of thought as of the Molvi. Mr. Amir Liaquat forgot his status as the moderator/anchor of the show and in the continuity of the abuses started his own speech. In his speech he totally forgot the main topic and not only desecrated the sacred status of a man considered holy by more than 200 million people around the world, but also spread hatred among the nation of Pakistan which is already facing the consequences of intolerance among themselves. Not to mention Mr. Liaquat paved the way for further terrorism and extremism by playing with the emotions of the common man; whose heart and soul is Islam but unfortunately does not hold the intellect or the knowledge to study the true values of real Islam.
This program created such an adverse effect on the illiterate listeners that on the very next day, that is on the 8th of September 2008, Dr. Munnan Siddiqui, a well known Physician who belonged to the Ahmadiyya Muslim community in Mirpur Khas Sindh, was brutally murdered in his clinic. Unknown gunmen entered his clinic and started firing indiscriminately injuring several persons including his patients and security guard. Dr. Siddiqui succumbed to his injuries few minutes later. This barbaric act of terrorism or extremism whatever we call it was just a glimpse of the potential our populace has in accepting extremist beliefs and resorting to such cowardly acts.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has never been given the chance to defend its beliefs in Pakistan. Numerous allegations and accusations are laid upon the community but never a chance is given to say anything in their defense. We as a nation are affected by the fact that we are intolerant and hate anyone who dares to contradict us. We don’t want to see the other side of the picture. . This has always been the case in Pakistan. But what really saddens me this time is that we are now claiming to fight extremism in our country while our media is spreading such extremist one-sided teachings on prime-time television!!! When will we understand the fact that we must be tolerant enough to listen to other people. Think about the situation the nation is in, everything is going wrong. Everybody agrees to that. Everybody knows the problem is extremism so why not cure it. If Pakistan does not recognize its friends from foes soon than it’s a lost war.
Finally I being an Ahmadi Muslim condemn this act of violence and ask the Government of Pakistan to ensure that the Muderers of Dr Siddiqui are caught. I also plea to the Authorities to make sure that such acts of terrorism are not repeated. I further address the administration of Geo TV and show my disappointment and condemnation of the content of that program. I considered the Media to be impartial and the voice of the people not the beacon of hate and violence.
Please sign the petition if you believe in Love for All Hatred for None.

How do you describe a family that personifies love, and all the goodness that accompanies it?
To know them is to love them…as they love (Randy’s love lives on!) the people around them.
A match made in heaven – a devoted special education teacher and a champion little league coach who met, fell in love and married. Everyone celebrated…it couldn’t have happened to nicer people!
Their great love for each other included their three sons from previous marriages, their adopted son (a student of Patti’s who became an orphan (temporarily) after his mother died,) and their three cherished “cherubs,†miracles of their love. They bought their “castle†a historic home in the ‘highlands’ part of Lincoln, RI. It needed TLC, but since that was their specialty, they bought it. They had a lifetime to return it to its original splendor…a ‘diamond’ in the rough.
After just two years of wedded “bliss†(really) tragedy struck! Randy was seriously injured in an auto accident, caused by a drunk driver, and nearly died.
His recovery was slow and painful…but Randy was determined. He would ‘walk’ his new baby and lead his little league team to a championship. It was his goal and no one could stop him. Patti and the children made sure! All their time and money was focused on Randy’s recovery…the house renovations and repairs were put on hold. After all, they had a lifetime ahead of them. Randy and Patti even forgave the drunk driver. Randy begged the judge for leniency. His rational- “everyone makes mistakes.â€
They worked hard, opened a restaurant, a place for a home cooked meal, and the Hien family celebrated their good fortune. Randy was alive and well. The future was bright!
This past September, the incomprehensible happened. While trying to repair his truck, which had broken down on the side of the road, Randy was once again struck by a car but this time there would be no miracle- no celebration. Randy was gone…forever! But his spirit (seven children and wife) lives on.
They need your help! While they NEVER complain the home that held so much promise…so much hope…is pretty hopeless! Their beloved home, Randy’s family’s home, is not safe and comfortable. It’s a terrible irony…a family that lived to make others safe and comfortable…is not. We need ABC’s help.
Seven years ago, Harold Kushner wrote a book “When Bad Things Happen to Good People.†Its time ABC helped to rewrite the story and make it “When Good Things Happen to Good People!â€
We can’t do it without you!

Petition for the NYC Parks Dept to Amend its Regulations to Codify and Strengthen Off-leash Policy

We, the undersigned, support clarifying amendments to the Department of Parks and Recreation (DOPR) regulations so that the City’s 20-year old successful off-leash policy, which allows responsible dog owners to exercise and socialize their dogs during limited hours and in designated locations in City parks, can be strengthened.

WHEREAS, On November 30, 2006, NYS Supreme Court Judge Peter J. Kelly, In the Matter of the Application of JUNIPER PARK CIVIC ASSOCIATION, INC. v. THE CITY OF NEW YORK, ADRIAN BENEPE, COMMISSIONER OF THE NYC DOPR, ruled in favor of the City and the Parks Commissioner; and

WHEREAS, Judge Kelly expressed hope that the DOPR would “formalize the details of the current off-leash policy within the Park Rulesâ€; and

WHEREAS, On December 5, 2006, the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOMH) adopted amendments to Article 161.05 (the “Leash Lawâ€), which call upon the Parks Department to adopt rules promoting awareness of dog vaccination and licensure requirements, and the specific locations where, and limited times when, dogs may be off-leash; and

WHEREAS, The amendments to Article 161.05 permit the Health Department to suspend off-leash activity in a particular area in the event of a statistically verifiable outbreak of rabies, or a preventable spike in dog-related bites that occur in that particular area during the off-leash hours, providing a reasonable and fair provision that is good for the City and all its park users;

THEREFORE, We respectfully urge the DOPR to adopt amendments to their own regulations to strengthen responsible dog ownership, comply with the Judge’s decision, comport with the DOMH amendments to Article 161.05, and continue to make parks safe and enjoyable for all City residents.

Call for Intervention IN Ethiopia democratic Ethiopia

Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa has been in turmoil since yesterday November1, 2005. Security Forces loyal to the Meles Zenawi Regime have massacred unarmed civilians and are continuing to do so at this very moment. Elected public officials and scholars are being jailed and tortured. Among the many who have been detained and whose whereabouts are unknown are:

1. Engineer Hailu Shawel (president of the CUD)
2. Dr. Berhanu Nega (elected mayor of Addis Ababa)
3. Dr Befekadu Degeffe (member of CUD's executive committee)
4. Dr. Hailu Araya (member of CUD's executive committee)
5. Prof. Mesfin Wolde Mariam (founder of Ethiopia's Human Rights Council, EHRCO)

On the day the Security Council has voted to sanction Syria for the killing of one person, they have failed to speak out against the killings of numerous Ethiopians. We emphatically urge the international community to take an immediate action to stop these atrocities. Help us in our endeavor to build a free and democratic Ethiopia.

We are deeply concerned about the Anand Jon verdict; We feel that the jury acted in haste and a great injustice was committed.

It is hard to understand in this great country how so many of these witnesses for the prosecution could blatantly lie on the stand, seemingly without consequences. These acts compound our concern regarding the fairness of the outcome. Futhermore, he passed the polygraph and we believe that the prosecution\'s main complaining witness should proceed with a polygraph also. Of the 16 counts, there is only one count of alleged rape and that one is based on a rape kit that is "NEGATIVE".

We are signing and sending this petition to you because we are concerned about the verdict. Due to the overwhelming evidence in support of the defendant, we are troubled about the process and worried if there was bias and/or manipulation involved. There is obvious prosecutorial misconduct and we humbly request that prosecution should be removed from this case and an independent investigation be launched apart from the District Attorney.

                                  Respectfully,
People that are fighting for truth and justice.

Wanna B Tight? - Then you better get it right!

Please Boycott Boyet Fajardo RTW Labels

Last March 13, 2009, Filipino Fashion Designer Angelino Boyet Fajardo created a scene, to the shock and horror of shoppers and employees of Duty Free Philippines alike, when a cashier politely asked for his ID after presenting his unsigned credit card. This is a standard operating procedure applicable to all stores to verify ownership of the credit card and prevent fraud.

Suddenly, the designer reportedly got furious and, at the top of his voice, started berating the cashiers and managers of Duty Free Philippines. He might have thought a celebrated person like he is, with all his accolades and fame, has gone unrecognized by the cashier. A new well-trained casual worker who is carefully doing his job. The designer further shocked bystanders by cursing the people there with words such as leche and p...ina, while angrily expressing surprise why the people there did not recognize him.

Store managers and officers were sought to appease the matter, explaining to him that it is all included as a standard operating procedure in credit card payment for the safety, not only for the company but also his own. Ignoring all this, he pulled out his phone and threatened to call on high positioned government officials whom he allegedly knew, like doing a power-play to make these people realize how important he is. He went on saying "Mga leche kayo! Hindi niyo ako kilala? Ako si Boyet Fajardo! At itong p...ina na babaeng ito (pointing to a lady officer) at ang baklang ito (pointing to the cashier) ay walang kwentang mga tao! I want them fired!!!"

His yelling and berating went on and on. He cannot calm down and as he appeared to have bloodshot eyes, like that of a drunk person and or under an influence. He threw his passport on the cashier's face and later intentionally stepped on the cashier's foot to say "Ay sorry, di ko sinasadya!" He goes on to say, that only if the cashier kneel down before him and/or allow him to freely slap the cashier's face, may he get satisfied.

The ill-fated cashier, with all the onlookers watching, stand down and just simply gave in to probably he thought would end the matter. Crying in shame he slowly knelt down and apologize (for actually doing his job) before this self proclaimed GOD, perhaps for fear of loosing his job. No slapping was made to the cashier's face but the incident landed a harsher and reverberating sound to the faces of the lesser people of this society.

Fortunately, his inhumane acts were caught on CCTV in which a portion was featured in YouTube.

With such disrespect, discrimination and humiliation towards a good worker, a less fortunate person and a fellow Filipino...

1. We are calling all citizens to stop patronizing Boyet Fajardo's RTW labels such as Substance in SM department stores, Boyet Fajardo and Initials in Landmark and Robinson's department stores.
2. We are calling on all malls to pull out or stop distributing his products in your outlets.
4. We are calling on the Commission on Human Rights, Department of Labor and Employment and all human rights and labor activists to take appropriate legal actions on this matter.
5. We are calling all foreign embassies to deny him of entry to your respective countries.
6. We are calling on the Fashion Designers Association of the Philippines to dishonor him of his membership and profession.

...To give him a lesson and to help us stop him from victimizing the underprivileged over and over and over again.

THE ISRAELI WAR ON LEBANON IS NOT MEASURED. The deliberate targeting by the Israeli army of civilian dwellings, cars, and food convoys, the destruction of roads and civilian infrastructure, and the consequent death of hundreds of civilians is neither justified self-defence, nor does it constitute a moderate response, Mr. Harper. “This is unequivocally a war of choiceâ€, states Israeli columnist Gideon Levy, a choice to destroy any political force that resists its occupation of Arab lands. The idea that this is self-defence or a response to aggression is either naïve or cynical distortion.

IT IS NOT FAIR. On July 18th you claimed that violence is not the solution. Why doesn’t this apply to Israeli violence? Are you comparing the capture of two soldiers with the destruction of a whole country? After all, Israel has also captured several Lebanese, not to mention the 9000 Palestinians in Israeli jails, including members of the Palestinian parliament. Would this be a reason to destroy Israel? Do you realize the depth of your bias, Mr. Harper?

IT IS NOT SELF-DEFENCE. The crisis did not begin with the capture of two Israeli soldiers. It is part of the larger Middle East conflict. It started with the expulsion of two-thirds of the Palestinian population in 1948, and it was exacerbated in the 1967 war when Israel occupied the West Bank and Gaza. “An underlying reason that years of U.S. diplomacy have failed and violence in the Middle East persists is that some Israeli leaders continue to create facts by building settlements in occupied territoryâ€, stated former President Jimmy Carter (Washington Post, November 26, 2000). The violence that we witness today is a result of Israel’s desire to enforce its occupation. It is not self-defence.

SUPPORTING IT IS NOT CANADIAN. We, Canadians from diverse backgrounds, including Jews and Israeli Canadians, Arab Canadians (Muslims, Christians and Jews), English and French Canadians, and immigrants are outraged at your blind support for a policy of aggression that has resulted in the death of hundreds of civilians and massive destruction. Your government’s position is not fostering peace in the region nor Canada's reputation as an honest broker.

WE DEMAND that the Government of Canada stop supporting Israeli violence, whose destructive power is far more lethal than the combined violence used by militant non-state groups. We demand that Canada adopt an objective position, based on international law as well as Canada's historical reputation as a peacemaker – fostering a Canadian tradition of independent thought and action regarding international diplomacy – as opposed to support for an unjustified war and a brutal occupation.

Free Cuc Foshee

On September 8, 2005, THUONG NGUYEN “CUC†FOSHEE was detained by the Vietnamese government while traveling in Vietnam. She has been in a detention center in Ho Chi Minh City ever since.

We request the immediate release of THUONG NGUYEN “CUC†FOSHEE, a long-time citizen of the United States, who is being unjustly held by the Government of Vietnam.

THUONG NGUYEN “CUC†FOSHEE was born in 1948 in North Vietnam. In 1954, her family fled to South Vietnam to escape the communist occupying North Vietnam. She grew up in Nha-trang until 1967 where she met and later married, Edgar Foshee, a Sergeant major in the United States Army Special Forces. In 1971, Cuc and her family moved to Bangkok, Thailand where they resided until her husband retired from the U.S. Army. THUONG NGUYEN “CUC†FOSHEE became a United States Citizen and moved to Orlando, Florida where she has resided since 1973.

THUONG NGUYEN “CUC†FOSHEE has lived in Orlando, Florida for over thirty years, where she is a responsible member of the community, and the successful owner of a large landscaping business. She has been active in the community by registering other Vietnamese Americans to vote, and has been a role model to many people who have come to our great democracy with the hope of bettering themselves and of contributing to their new country.

THUONG NGUYEN “CUC†FOSHEE, like many former citizens of South Vietnam, has openly expressed her desire to see the democratic process return to the place of her birth. Beyond the expression of that belief, she has committed no act which could reasonably be viewed as threatening to the current government of Vietnam.

Nevertheless, on September 8, 2005, THUONG NGUYEN “CUC†FOSHEE was arrested while traveling in Vietnam. She has been held in prison for over one full year now, without being formally charged, without access to legal representation, and with limited access to medical attention. The members of her family were not allowed to see her for several months after her arrest, and are still allowed only the briefest of visits each month; meanwhile, the government of Vietnam simply says that she is "under investigation," yet this situation has dragged on with no end in sight. Caring friends and loving members of her family in the United States simply want THUONG NGUYEN “CUC†FOSHEE back where here she belongs.

While the United States Embassy in Hanoi is fully aware of, and involved in, this matter, it is becoming obvious that more influential powers must intercede for justice to be served. The U.S. Congress, with its influence over the trade status of Vietnam, is in a position to persuade the government of Vietnam to do what is right: to release a U.S Citizen who has been detained in clear violation of those human rights which we all view as fundamental to the democratic process.

The Communist Government of Vietnam is responsible for the incarceration of this completely innocent U.S. Citizen.

We, the undersigned, therefore urge the Members of the United States Congress to act with full vigor and with all deliberate speed to:

1. Secure the release of THUONG NGUYEN “CUC†FOSHEE from prison in Vietnam.

2. Ensure that Permanent Normalized Trade Relations are not granted to the Government of Vietnam while they are violating the human rights of this innocent United States Citizen.

3. Advise President Bush not to approve Permanent Normalized Trade Relations, an action he may consider as part of the Agenda for his upcoming visit to Vietnam, until and unless this matter is resolved.

Keeping Girls Gone Wild out of Blacksburg

Dear Oge-Chi's management:

We, the undersigned, urge you to cancel the "Girls Gone Wild" event scheduled on April 20, 2007 at Oge-Chi's, 204 Draper Rd. NW, Blacksburg, Virginia. As you know, the national promoter of GGW, Joe Francis, is currently in jail for threatening seven women he made pornographic films of when they were underage. You may be unaware, however, that local promoters of GGW events are also being prosecuted. A bar owner in Akron, Ohio recently plead guilty to two misdemeanor charges, including selling alcohol to a minor, was fined $2,000 and given a six-month suspended sentence, because of a GGW visit to his establishment. Since this event promises to bring a known criminal element to Blacksburg, we urge you to cancel this and any further appearances.

Should you decide to continue however, we intend to bring this matter before the Montgomery County Alcoholic Beverage Commission by entering a remonstrance when Oge-Chi's liquor license is up for renewal on 11/30/2007. The ABC rules of Virginia for licensees states "Do not allow any lewd, obscene, or indecent conduct, literature, pictures, films, slides, or videos on the premises." [COV §4.1-225] Maintaining a "noisy, lewd, disorderly or unsanitary establishment" is grounds for which the Board may suspend or revoke licenses. We believe that a screening of the GGW video shot at Ogi-Chi's, which we intend to arrange for the Board, will demonstrate lewd, obscene, and indecent conduct on the premises of Ogi-Chi's.

Kindly reconsider your invitation to GGW.
Sincerely,

Nate Kirk would speak out if he could but he was murdered.....

Nate Kirk would speak out if he could but he was murdered.....

Robert Nathaniel Kirk was found in the shallow end of his pool just days after having his life threatened for protecting a friend. "Nate" as he was called was a typical teenager with the normal challenges our youth have today who would do anything to try and protect his friends.

Nate's death was ruled an accident and the law enforcement refuses to further investigate because of the Medical Examiners ruling. However, if you look at the photos of Nate, you will know beyond a shadow of a doubt that this was no mere accident, how is it that the Medical Examiner can miss all these massive bruises, cuts, abrasions, and massive head injury? Why was Nate wearing his clothes in the shallow end of the pool, socks, t-shirt and boxers?

Nate was just an average kid who was loved by his family and friends who loved to smile. Accident, NO WAY !!. Murder, YES.

Nate’s life was valuable. Every human life is valuable. .

Nate gave his life to protect a friend and now he needs you to help speak out to make sure those responsible for his death are brought to justice before they murder again.

Thank you,

Rev. Jim Wilson on behalf of the Kirk Family

Our hearts goes out to the families, as you know our ministry has taken a pro active stance in seeking justice for Nate but in light of new evidence that Jim Kirk intentionally left out or old evidence substantiated we have pulled our involvement from the case and ask that you continue to pray for the family during this most difficult time. God Bless -

August 6, 2007

Dear Gentlemen:

Thank you for your letters of July 3 and July 14, 2007 respectively. I certainly share your concern over the Kirk family’s loss of their son Nate. I can assure you that the Mesa Police Department (MPD) conducted a very thorough and complete investigation into the circumstances of Nate Kirk’s death and there is no indication that it was anything but an accidental drowning. However, let me take this opportunity to share the results of the MPD investigation with you so that you are fully informed of all of the facts and circumstances thereof.

On August 28, 2006 uniformed police officers from the MPD were dispatched to 1852 North Saffron Circle, located in the City of Mesa, on a medical call for a non-breathing male. The responding officers met with Nate’s father, James Kirk, who reported the incident. Mr. Kirk advised the officers that he found his son floating in the shallow end of the pool at approximately 8:00 a.m. Mr. Kirk also indicated to the officers that he pulled his son from the pool and contacted 911 emergency communications to request assistance.

Mr. Kirk provided the officers with an accounting of what had transpired prior to his finding his son’s body. He told the officers that Nate had been at an acquaintance’s house the night before and arrived home at approximately midnight. Mr. Kirk also told the responding officers that when he woke up that morning he went to Nate’s room looking for him. Mr. Kirk told the officers that he noticed Nate’s pants in the bedroom with his wallet and cell phone still in the pocket. Mr. Kirk then told the responding officers that he went out the front door and walked around to the side gate. Mr. Kirk said that he noticed the side gate was slightly ajar. Mr. Kirk told the officers that he then walked to the back yard and found his son in the pool.

Mr. Kirk provided the officers with background information concerning Nate, which included previous threats of suicide, depression and heavy drinking, for which Nate received treatment. Mr. Kirk also told the officers that Nate was bi-polar and was taking medication, Depakote and Seroquel. Mr. Kirk also told the responding officers that Nate may have been provided with illegal drugs while he was at his friend’s house the previous night.

Emergency personnel from the Mesa Fire Department (MFD) also responded and pronounced Nate Kirk dead at the scene.

Also, the Office of the Medical Examiner responded to the scene and did not find any evidence on Nate’s body indicating foul play. Nate’s body was then transported to the Medical Examiner’s Officer.

The responding officers examined the scene and saw no indication of a struggle in and around the pool area.

Based on the circumstances, a detective was not dispatched to the scene because there was no indication that Nate’s death was anything but accidental.

Nate’s mother, Robyn Kirk, and his sister, Misty Hidaigo, also provided the officers with information. Specifically, that they believed Nate was the victim of foul play in that Ronald Riddell recently threatened Nate’s life.

On August 29, 2006 an MPD detective was assigned to the case to follow up on any and all details provided. The detective contacted Mr. Kirk, who told the detective that his son did not drown by accident but was murdered by Ron Riddell. Mr. Kirk provided the detective with background details concerning an argument between Mr. Riddell and Derrick Owens wherein his son intervened.

Also, on August 29, 2006 the detective contacted the Medical Examiner’s office and was advised that Nate’s autopsy was complete and that the cause of death was consistent with accidental drowning. However, the final determination regarding the cause of death was pending the results of toxicology.

On October 2, 2006 the MPD detective spoke with Mr. Kirk’s private investigator, Tim Cooning. Mr. Cooning advised the detective that he also had found no evidence that Nate’s death was anything but an accidental drowning.

On October 16, 2006, the official autopsy report was released by the Medical Examiner’s office with Nate’s cause of death listed as drowning. Additionally, the autopsy report indicated that at the time of his death, Nate had high levels of alcohol and cocaine in his system.

From the time of Nate’s death onward the detective assigned to the case received numerous telephone calls from Nate’s family and friends indicating that Nate’s death was not an accident. However, none of the individuals could substantiate their respective allegations.

On November 15, 2006 Ron Riddle, Sr., Ron Riddle, Jr. and Derrick Owens agreed to a voluntary interview at the MPD. Nothing was uncovered in the interviews to suggest that the Riddle’s or Owens had any involvement in Nate’s death.

The investigation also revealed that in or around October of 2004 Nate was involved in a fatal hit and run accident. On June 23, 2006, Nate was charged with Manslaughter in violation of Arizona Revised Statute 13-1103. Under Arizona law Manslaughter includes “recklessly causing the death of another.†Manslaughter is a class 2 felony, which is punishable by five (5) years in the state prison. On July 12, 2006 Nate was arrested on the warrant and lodged in the Maricopa County Jail pending arraignment on the charges. Subsequently, Nate appeared for arraignment on the charges and bond was set in the amount of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00). The case was scheduled for a jury trial on December 14, 2006 in Superior Court of Arizona for Maricopa County

On September 22, 2006 Nate was scheduled to appear in Superior Court before Judge Bethany G. Hicks for a status conference/change of plea. On September 23, 2006, the criminal case against Nate was dismissed due to his death.

Also, the investigation revealed that on November 27, 2005 the MPD responded to a police run at the Kirk residence concerning domestic violence. At that time, it was determined that Nate was involved in a dispute with a female friend. Again, on June 17, 2006 MPD responded to a police run to the Kirk residence concerning domestic violence. At that time, it was determined that Nate was involved in a dispute with his mother and sister. No charges were filed against Nate in either case.

The MPD has spent considerable time and resources on this investigation in addition to responding to numerous communications and has exhausted all investigative avenues to no avail. To continue to allocate our resources to this investigation would be a disservice to the citizens of the City of Mesa. However, in order to confirm the integrity of the MPD investigation, the results of which were corroborated by the Kirk’s private investigator, the MPD investigation was forwarded to the Maricopa County Attorney for investigative review.

I trust this satisfies your concerns. My sympathies are extended to the Kirk family.

Sincerely,

George Gascón

Australian Facing Death by Hanging

Nguyen Tuong Van, is currently on death row in Singapore awaiting execution by hanging.

Van is a 25 year-old of Vietnamese descent, who was born in a Thai refugee camp after his mother fled her homeland. They emigrated to Australia when both Van and his twin brother were just a few months old. His mother settled in Melbourne's south-east suburbs and by all accounts Van was an ordinary kid growing up in an ordinary suburb.

Van was arrested in December 2002 at Changi airport, Singapore, with almost 400 grams of heroin strapped to his body. Van was attempting to smuggle heroin from Vietnam to Australia.

He was charged with trafficking and in March 2004, sentenced to death by judge Kan Ting Chui.

Van had spent 15 months awaiting this verdict in a jail where inmates are shackled for up to 22 hours a day. The inmates' diet is also extremely poor and they receive little or no medical attention.

The 23-year-old claimed he tried to smuggle heroin out of Vietnam to pay-off his twin brother's heavy debts. If Nguyen Tuong Van's brother had made mistakes in life, they were nothing compared to the mistake he made when he agreed to become responsible for his twin brother.

According to Amnesty International, Singapore has executed 400 prisoners since 1991, giving it the highest per capita execution rate in the world. If Van loses his appeal, he will be the first Australian to be executed in more than a decade.

I urge you to appeal against the death penalty given to Nguyen Tuong Van, and request that the Australian Government do everything in its power to have his sentence commuted to a lessor one and in doing so, support Van's appeal for clemency.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Added by lxa1994 @ October 30, 2008, 8:35 pm
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Its not good to change a character in a movie sequel. Everyone brings up Katie Holmes and Maggie Gyhgenneneanenenenehall(?), the thing about that is, that Rachel Dawes is not a very important character. Katie and Maggie look similar enough. To tell you the truth i didn't even know it wasn't Katie Holmes as Rachel in The Dark Knight. I later found out online. I didn't pay much attention because she was not a major character. James Rhodes on the other hand... He's going to be the god damn War Machine in the next movie! Don Cheadle doesn't suit James Rhodes, and he certainly doesn't look like Terrence Howard. When i go and watch Iron Man 2, i'm going to have a hard time focussing on the actual film, because its weird to switch characters in them.

Just to let you guys know:

Terrence Howard was not being a Greedy Bastard. He didn't know he got recasted until he read it online. He was excited to play War Machine, and then Marvel replaced him. I bet you that if Marvel offered him the role back, that he would accept. I mean, seriously, Why would he not want to be in a movie that will make Millions of dollars on opening week. He seemed very excited about being in the sequel.

Anyways, The facebook group for this is below

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=35171550666

Lets let Marvel notice that no one wants to see Terrence Howard replaced(except for the people who don't like him). But this is not about not liking him. This is about the movie. If you change the face of a main character, people are not going to like it. Continuity issues. We don't want Continuity to ruin the Iron Man Franchise.

Free Shai of the claws of india's police and media

A MIDNIGHT EXPRESS IN INDIA - THE STORY OF AN INNOCENT MAN AGAINST THE POLICE AND MEDIA OF INDIA

Shai Ben Haiun - aka. Technodrome - is a well respected figure in the world Trance scene, his music has taken him to play across the globe, and as a producer his music is played by djs across the world, with releases including one album and tracks on over 15 compilations.

Shai originates from Kiryat Gat which is a very small town in Israel, and comes from a working class family.

On October 4th Shai arrived for a three day visit to India, to play on the 5th of October at this private party in a highly regarded and exclusive "72 Degrees East" Club, which caters to the sons and daughters of the rich and famous Mumbay (formerly Bombay) in India.

This party turned into a fiasco when Police raided the club on a tip off and arrested around 240 of the party guests and the party organizers and the DJs at the party for various drug related charges. Accusing Shai of ridiculous charges of possession and intent to sell drugs - not having found any drugs on his body.

The Police and media of India who could not stick charges on the sons of India\'s rich and famous managed to find a scape goat in the form of the defenseless 26 year old Shai Ben Haiun, a foreigner against the windmills of justice (or injustice) now since he\'s not the son of some celebrity or influential government minister, and arrives from a simple background is awaiting trial in Bombai Jail without possibility to make bail while all the others were released from any incarceration.

INSTEAD OF ACCUSING THE ORGANIZERS, PROMOTERS, CLUB LANDLORDS AND THE SECURITY OF THE CLUB - FOR ALLOWING SUCH SHAMELESS CONSUMPTION OF DRUGS IN PUBLIC. INDIA\'S POLICE AND MEDIA WOULD RATHER BLAME AN INNOCENT FOREIGNER ARTIST FOR THE SHORTCOMINGS OF INDIA\'S SOCIETY.

Just to prove the point that Club was reputed to hold illegal drug parties as a policy, and held another party a couple of days earlier - which was a day before Shai even landed in India, we bring you an article from www.MID-DAY.com Indian Epaper:

"Among the 239 people that were detained after the rave party raid at Juhu\'s Bombay 72° East late Sunday night were children of celebrities too. Sana and Suraj Panscholi, children of actor Aditya Panscholi, and Shakti Kapoor\'s son Siddhant were detained, according to a source present at the party.

Also present were Shivendra Pawar, son of former Income Tax officer L S Pawar, and Azhar Supariwala, the grandson of 80s don Haji Mastan.

"I saw all these star kids pop Ecstasy tablets," said the source. "Drugs were being peddled openly in the vicinity. Cigarettes and joints made of weed and hash were openly rolled and smoked."

Similar party held in the same area

"This, despite a ban on smoking in restaurants. Class A drugs like LSD were being done in more private areas like the bathroom and VIP lounge," the source added.

A similar kind of party was held at the same location only 48 hours before the raid and lasted till the wee hours, said the source."

shell to sea petition to the people of Ireland and the World

We the undersigned request the following:
That Shell E&P Ireland (SEPIL) cease all operations in Erris, both onshore and offshore, pending a full investigation into the Corrib gas project as a whole, particularly in terms of the health and safety of the local residents in Rossport and the surrounding areas, and that it be agreed to refine the gas at sea. Stop the criminalisation of Irish citizens now. This project must not proceed as currently proposed. It will form a dangerous precedent.

We call on the Irish Government to revisit the issue of the licensing of our natural resources to ensure that the Irish people will benefit from future finds of gas or oil off our coast.

Gaeilge:

Iarann muid ar Shell E&P Ireland (SEPIL) stop a chur leis an obair atá ar siúl acu in Iorras faoi láthair, ar thalamh agus amuigh ón gcósta, go dtí go mbíonn scrúdú iomlán déanta ar thionscnamh gáis na Coiribe ina iomláine, agus go mbeadh béim curtha san imscrúdú sin go háirithe ar shláinte agus ar shabháilteacht na ndaoine atá ina gcónaí i Ros Dumhach agus sa cheantar thart. Glan an gas ar an bhfarraige. Ní féidir leis an tionscnamh seo dul ar aghaidh mar atá molta faoi láthair. Fasach contúirteach a bheadh ann.

Impíonn muid ar Rialtas na hÉireann athscrúdú a dhéanamh ar mar a bhronntar ceadúnais ar chomhlachtaí ola agus gáis, ionas gur féidir a chinntiú go mbeidh buntáiste le fáil ag muintir na hÉireann as an saibhreas acmhainní nádúrtha atá amuigh ó chósta na tíre.

................................................

Now Here Is The History Of Janat Ul BAQI...

HISTORY OF THE CEMETERY OF JANNAT AL-BAQI
THE HOLY PLACE WHERE Hazrat Fatima Zahra sa IMAM HASAN B. ALI (2ND IMAM), IMAM ALI B. AL-HUSAYN (4TH IMAM), IMAM MUHAMMAD B. ALI (5TH IMAM), & IMAM JA'FAR B. MUHAMMAD (6TH IMAM), PEACE BE UPON THEM, ARE BURIED

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On 8th Shawwal, Wednesday, in the year 1345 AH (April 21, 1925), mausoleums in Jannatul al-Baqi (Madina) were demolished by King Ibn Saud.

In the same year (1925), he also demolished the tombs of holy personages at Jannat al-Mualla (Makkah) where the Holy Prophet (s)'s mother, wife, grandfather and other ancestors are buried.

Destruction of sacred sites in Hijaz by the Saudi Wahhabis continues even today. According to some scholars what is happening in Hijaz is actually a conspiracy plotted by the Jews against Islam, under the guise of Tawheed. The idea is to eradicate the Islamic legacy and heritage and to systematically remove all its vestiges so that in the days to come, Muslims will have no affiliation with their religious history.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Origins of Al-Baqi
Literally "al-Baqi" means a tree garden. It is also known as "Jannat al-Baqi" due to its sanctity, since in it are buried many of our Prophet's relatives and companions.

The first companion buried in al-Baqi was Uthman b. Madhoon who died on the 3rd of Sha'ban in the 3rd year of Hijrah. The Prophet (s) ordered certain trees to be felled, and in its midst, he buried his dear companion, placing two stones over the grave.

On the following years, the Prophet's son Ibrahim, who died in infancy and over whom the Prophet (s) wept bitterly, was also buried there. The people of Madina then began to use that site for the burial of their own dead, because the Prophet (s) used to greet those who were buried in al-Baqi by saying, "Peace be upon you, O abode of the faithful! God willing, we should soon join you. O' Allah, forgive the fellows of al-Baqi".

The site of the burial ground at al-Baqi was gradually extended. Nearly seven thousand companions of the Holy Prophet (s) were buried there, not to mention those of the Ahlul Bayt (a). Imam Hasan b. Ali (a), Imam Ali b. al-Husayn (a), Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (a), and Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (a) were all buried there.

Among other relatives of the Prophet (s) who were buried at al-Baqi are: his aunts Safiya and Aatika, and his aunt Fatima bint al-Asad, the mother of Imam Ali (a). The third caliph Uthman was buried outside al-Baqi, but with later extensions, his grave was included in the area. In later years, great Muslim scholars like Malik bin Anas and many others, were buried there too. Thus, did al-Baqi become a well-known place of great historic significance to all Muslims.

Al-Baqi as viewed by historians
Umar bin Jubair describes al-Baqi as he saw it during his travel to Madina, saying "Al-Baqi is situated to the east of Madina. You enter it through the gate known as the gate of al-Baqi. As you enter, the first grave you see on your left is that of Safiya, the Prophet's aunt, and further still is the grave of Malik bin Anas, the Imam of Madina. On his grave is raised a small dome. In front of it is the grave of Ibrahim son of our Prophet (s) with a white dome over it, and next to it on the right is the grave of Abdul-Rahman son of Umar bin al-Khattab, popularly known as Abu Shahma, whose father had kept punishing him till death overtook him. Facing it are the graves of Aqeel bin Abi Talib and Abdullah bin Ja'far al-Tayyar. There, facing those graves is a small shrine containing the graves of the Prophet's wives, following by a shrine of Abbas bin Abdul Muttalib.

The grave of Hasan bin Ali (a), situated near the gate to it's right hand, has an elevated dome over it. His head lies at the feet of Abbas bin Abdul Muttalib, and both graves are raised high above the ground, their walls are panelled with yellow plates and studded with beautiful star-shaped nails. This is how the grave of Ibrahim, son of the Prophet (s) has also been adorned. Behind the shrine of Abbas there is the house attributed to Fatima, daughter of our Prophet (s), known as "Bayt al-Ahzaan" (the house of grief) because it is the house she used to frequent in order to mourn the death of her father, the chosen one, peace be upon him. At the farthest end of al-Baqi is the grave of the caliph Uthman, with a small dome over it, and there, next to it, is the grave of Fatima bint Asad, mother of Ali b. Abi Talib (a)"

After a century and a half, the famous traveller Ibn Batuta came to describe al-Baqi in a way which does not in any way differ from the description given by Ibn Jubair. He adds saying, "At al-Baqi are the graves of numerous Muhajirin and Ansar and many companions of the Prophet (s), except that most of their names are unknown."

Thus, over the centuries, al-Baqi remained a sacred site with renovations being carried out as and when needed till the Wahhabis rose to power in the early nineteenth century. The latter desecrated the tombs and demonstrated disrespect to the martyrs and the companions of the Prophet (s) buried there. Muslims who disagreed with them were branded as "infidels" and were subsequently killed.

The First Destruction of Al-Baqi
The Wahhabis believed that visiting the graves and the shrines of the Prophets, the Imams, or the saints was a form of idolatry and totally un-Islamic. Those who did not conform with their belief were killed and their property was confiscated. Since their first invasion of Iraq, and till nowadays, in fact, the Wahhabis, as well as other rulers of the Gulf States, having been carrying out massacres from which no Muslim who disagreed with them was spared. Obviously, the rest of the Islamic World viewed those graves with deep reverence. Had it not been so, the two caliphs Abu Bakr and Umar would not have expressed their desire for burial near the grave of the Prophet (s).

From 1205 AH to 1217 AH, the Wahhabis made several attempts to gain a foothold in Hijaz but failed. Finally, in 1217 AH, they somehow emerged victorious in Taif where they spilled the innocent blood of Muslims. In 1218 AH, they entered Makkah and destroyed all sacred places and domes there, including the one which served as a canopy over the well of Zamzam.

In 1221, the Wahhabis entered Madina to desecrate al-Baqi as well as every mosque they came across. An attempt was even made to demolish the Prophet's tomb, but for one reason or another, the idea was abandoned. In subsequent years, Muslims from Iraq, Syria, and Egypt were refused entry into Makkah for Hajj. King Al-Saud set a pre-condition that those who wished to perform the pilgrimage would have to accept Wahhabism or else be branded as non-Muslims, becoming ineligible for entry into the Haram.

Al-Baqi was razed to the ground, with no sign of any grave or tomb whatsoever. But the Saudis were still not quite satisfied with doing all of that. Their king ordered three black attendants at the Prophet's shrine to show him where the treasure of valuable gifts were stored. The Wahhabis plundered the treasure for their own use.

Thousands of Muslims fled Makkah and Madina in a bid to save their lives and escape from the mounting pressure and persecution at the hands of the Wahhabis. Muslims from all over the world denounced this Saudi savagery and exhorted the Caliphate of the Ottoman Empire to save the sacred shrines from total destruction. Then, as it is known, Muhammad Ali Basha attacked Hijaz and, with the support of local tribes, managed to restore law and order in Madina and Makkah, dislodging the Al-Saud clansmen. The entire Muslim world celebrated this victory with great fanfare and rejoicing. In Cairo, the celebrations continued for five days. No doubt, the joy was due to the fact that pilgrims were once more allowed freely to go for Hajj, and the sacred shrines were once again restored.

In 1818 AD, the Ottaman Caliph Abdul Majid and his successors, Caliphs Abdul Hamid and Mohammed, carried out the reconstruction of all sacred places, restoring the Islamic heritage at all important sites. In 1848 and 1860 AD, further renovations were made at the expense of nearly seven hundred thousand pounds, most of which came from the donations collected at the Prophet's tomb.

The second plunder by the Wahhabis
The Ottoman Empire had added to the splendor of Madina and Makkah by building religious structures of great beauty and architectural value. Richard Burton, who visited the holy shrines in 1853 AD disguised as an Afghan Muslim and adopting the Muslim name Abdullah, speaks of Madina boasting 55 mosques and holy shrines. Another English adventurer who visited Madina in 1877-1878 AD describes it as a small beautiful city resembling Istanbul. He writes about its white walls, golden slender minarets and green fields.

1924 AD Wahhabis entered Hijaz for a second time and carried out another merciless plunder and massacre. People in streets were killed. Houses were razed to the ground. Women and children too were not spared.

Awn bin Hashim (Shairf of Makkah) writes: "Before me, a valley appeared to have been paved with corpses, dried blood staining everywhere all around. There was hardly a tree which didn't have one or two dead bodies near its roots."

1925 Madina surrendered to the Wahhabi onslaught. All Islamic heritage were destroyed. The only shrine that remained intact was that of the Holy Prophet (s).

Ibn Jabhan says: "We know that the tomb standing on the Prophet's grave is against our principles, and to have his grave in a mosque is an abominable sin."

Tombs of Hamza and other martyrs were demolished at Uhud. The Prophet's mosque was bombarded. On protest by Muslims, assurances were given by Ibn Saud that it will be restored but the promise was never fulfilled. A promise was given that Hijaz will have an Islamic multinational government. This was also abandoned.

1925 AD Jannat al-Mu'alla, the sacred cemetery at Makkah was destroyed alongwith the house where the Holy Prophet (s) was born. Since then, this day is a day of mourning for all Muslims.

Is it not strange that the Wahhabis find it offensive to have the tombs, shrines and other places of importance preserved, while the remains of their Saudi kings are being guarded at the expense of millions of dollars?

Protest from Indian Muslims
1926, protest gatherings were held by shocked Muslims all over the world. Resolutions were passed and a statement outlining the crimes perpetrated by Wahhabis was issued and included the following:

The destruction and desecration of the holy places i.e. the birth place of the Holy Prophet [s], the graves of Banu Hashim in Makkah and in Jannat al-Baqi (Madinah), the refusal of the Wahhabis to allow Muslims to recite Ziyarah or Surah al-Fatiha at those graves.
The destruction of the places of worship i.e. Masjid Hamza, Masjid Abu Rasheed, in addition to the tombs of Imams and Sahaba (Prophet's companions).
Interference in the performance of Hajj rituals.
Forcing the Muslims to follow the Wahhabis innovations and to abandon their own ways according to the guidance of the Imams they follow.
The massacre of sayyids in Taif, Madina, Ahsa, and Qatif.
The demolition of the grave of the Imams at al-Baqi which deeply offended and grieved all Shias.
Protest from other countries
Similar protests were lodged by Muslims in Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Indonesia, and Turkey. All of them condemn the Saudi Wahhabis for their barbaric acts. Some scholars wrote tracts and books to tell the world the fact that what was happening in Hijaz was actually a conspiracy plotted by the Jews against Islam, under the guise of Tawheed. The idea was to eradicate the Islamic legacy and heritage and to systematically remove all its vestiges so that in the days to come, Muslims will have no affiliation with their religious history.

Canadian detained in Vietnam

My name is Dee Hogle and I am the mother of twenty-eight year old, Randy James Sachs,of Hamilton Ontario [Canada].

{Photo right is of Randy [rear], Grandparents and Siblings}

I sit crying at night wondering if my son Randy, will survive the 16 year sentence he was given in 2003 by the Vietnamese court for possession of 1,000 ecstacy tablets. He is currently detained in Thu Duc Prison, Vietnam.

Randy admits that he made a terrible mistake but as his mother, I appeal to the authorities that the punishment is surely too severe in comparrison to his crime?

My son's health has deteriorated since he was first detained and he has developed kidney and extensive dental problems. Randy lost 8 teeth and needs a further 10 urgently repaired. The conditions in the prison are appalling. He shares a 3m x 4m cell with seven other inmates and sleeps on a straw mat on a rough cement floor. Each prisoner is given exactly 84 cm [width] to sleep.

The Embassy of Canada in Vietnam tells me there is no running water, no window and the light never shuts off. Randy says the only fresh air he gets is when rice or soup is passed through a small hatch in the door. One small bowl of soup and a handful of rice is all that is given to each prisoner twice a day.

In 4 months my son has lost 15 lbs due to the poor prison diet. He has developed rashes all over his body due contaminates in the water. Each inmate is only allowed a ration of 18 litres of water per day to drink, shower, wash clothing and clean dishes. My son is still a human being but is detained in conditions unfit for animals.

On behalf of my entire family and Randy's fiancé of five years, I plead for your compassion as we seek support to get us through this nightmare.

We ask that you sign your name to this petition that will be delivered to Amnesty International [Canada], the Embassy of Canada in Vietnam, and respectfully to the Government of Vietnam.

We earnestly seek support to Randy James Sachs' appeal for clemency to the Government of Vietnam, and that he is returned safely to Canada as quickly as possible. We have no ill-feeling towards the Vietnamese people or the Government of Vietnam.

As the mother of Randy James Sachs, I plead that the Government of Vietnam will show mercy and return my son to me.

Respectfully,

Dee Hogle
Mother of Randy James Sachs

We, the undersigned, on behalf of Mr. Abdul Rahman, citizen of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, do petition Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, George W. Bush, the President of the United States, all members of the United States House of Representatives, all members of the United States Senate, any and all officials in the United States Department of State, the Secretary General of the United Nations, and leaders of all member nations of the United Nations, as follows:

Whereas, the United States of America and a coalition of freedom-loving nations sacrificed lives and fortunes to remove the former government of Afghanistan from power, and

Whereas, Afghanistan was liberated from an authoritarian regime and given opportunity to establish a peaceful, free, and democratic republic, and

Whereas, Article 2 (2) of the newly-adopted Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan guarantees freedom of religion and religious expression, and

Whereas, the Preamble of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan endorses the United Nations Declaration of Universal Human Rights, which in Article 18 guarantees the individual right to convert from one religion to another, and

Whereas, the clear intent of the adoption of these measures in the new Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan was to secure individual human rights, freedom of religion, and freedom of conscience, the very rights not observed during Taliban rule,

Be it resolved, we the undersigned, do protest the arrest and trial of Mr. Abdul Rahman for the alleged “crime†of converting from Islam to Christianity, punishable by death, and do urge and call upon President Hamid Karzai and the governing authorities of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to immediately release, acquit and exonerate Mr. Rahman in accordance with the aforementioned Constitutional principles; further, we do urge and call upon the Executive and Congressional leaders of the United States of America, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, and the leaders of all other member nations to exert the utmost diplomatic pressure upon the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to swiftly achieve the same.

MANIFESTO: Together facing the new totalitarianism

After having overcome fascism, Nazism, and Stalinism, the world now faces a new totalitarian global threat: Islamism.
We, writers, journalists, intellectuals, call for resistance to religious totalitarianism and for the promotion of freedom, equal opportunity and secular values for all.

The recent events, which occurred after the publication of drawings of Muhammed in European newspapers, have revealed the necessity of the struggle for these universal values. This struggle will not be won by arms, but in the ideological field. It is not a clash of civilisations nor an antagonism of West and East that we are witnessing, but a global struggle that confronts democrats and theocrats.

Like all totalitarianisms, Islamism is nurtured by fears and frustrations. The hate preachers bet on these feelings in order to form battalions destined to impose a liberticidal and unegalitarian world. But we clearly and firmly state: nothing, not even despair, justifies the choice of obscurantism, totalitarianism and hatred. Islamism is a reactionary ideology which kills equality, freedom and secularism wherever it is present. Its success can only lead to a world of domination: man's domination of woman, the Islamists' domination of all the others. To counter this, we must assure universal rights to oppressed or discriminated people.

We reject « cultural relativism », which consists in accepting that men and women of Muslim culture should be deprived of the right to equality, freedom and secular values in the name of respect for cultures and traditions. We refuse to renounce our critical spirit out of fear of being accused of "Islamophobia", an unfortunate concept which confuses criticism of Islam as a religion with stigmatisation of its believers.

We plead for the universality of freedom of expression, so that a critical spirit may be exercised on all continents, against all abuses and all dogmas.

We appeal to democrats and free spirits of all countries that our century should be one of Enlightenment, not of obscurantism.
