He was just eleven-years-old. Over time, TheEd became more... of a troll. He insulted members, and was a pain to handle by the moderators and administrators. He got banned several times, and got control of this. But still had problems. TheEd came back and changed his username to \"MechaBowser.\" He made up several fun games for the community, but they didn\'t get popular, but they were well praised. Sometime later, he was promoted to moderator, along with some other members. Then that\'s the \"Big Bang Showdown\" of The3Eds happened. A day later, all complaints went towards an administrator and the promoted moderators, including TheEd. And his last post was in a Billy Mays topic, in which is was dedicated to his death. In one post, TheEd said something insulting towards his death. In the same thread, some ignored it the post, but the people who didn\'t just complained. The council spent some time with the university representatives to find ways of improving safety at the junction and concluded that the best way to proceed would be to create a \"shared-space\" - similar to one outside the shopping centre on Queen St. But they wanted to incorporate this into a major re-design of Broad St, which (given the current financial crisis) is quite a long way away. In the meantime, the council is doing nothing about the most terrifying road junction in central Oxford, despite admitting an increase in the number of accidents reported on the junction. This junction causes immense distress to road users, who rightly perceive it as very unsafe. The fact is that the junction is dangerous for cyclists and pedestrians, because traffic lights give no clear indication to them of when to cross safely. Hundreds of road users every day have to double-guess each others actions and this can be fatal once again if someone is in a rush. The junction is completely unsuitable for road users with disabilities, particularly those with hearing and visual impairments. Disabled users are forced to use other road junctions (e.g. Parks Rd/South Parks Rd), which limits their freedom of movement. This means we cannot wait for the next accident to happen. The letter reads, “While the court recognized that women are being discriminated against, it ruled that the responsibility for eliminating that discrimination lies with the International Olympic Committee (IOC).” It is the COPE councillors’ hope that – while the courts might not be able to enforce the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms – corporate sponsors might be able to leaverage their power to pressure the IOC. Last week, the letter was sent to worldwide Olympic sponsors (which include Coca Cola and Visa) and national Olympic sponsors (which include The Hudsons Bay Company and Petro Canada). The letter is also being sent to Olympic supporters and suppliers (which include media sponsors and Air Canada) this week. The entire letter is copied below. Sign onto this petition and tell Olympic sponsors to do the right thing -- or you\\\'ll act with your consumer dollars! -- Dear Olympic sponsors, As you are likely aware, 14 elite international female ski jumpers have gone to court in British Columbia requesting that female ski jumpers be allowed to compete in the 2010 Winter Olympics. Justice Fenlon, who made the British Columbia Supreme Court ruling, acknowledged that prohibiting female jumpers is a violation of Canadian law, specifically Sections 32 and 15 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. While the court recognized that women are being discriminated against, it ruled that the responsibility for eliminating that discrimination lies with the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Vanoc and the City of Vancouver have both endorsed female ski jumpers\\\' call for equal participation in the 2010 Olympics. Vanoc has also stated that if instructed to include the women\\\'s participation in the upcoming Olympics, it would do so. We ask you to approach the IOC to request that women be allowed to participate as equals in all Olympic events. I request that my representative in Government attempt to change US law and allow for significant indirect financial incentives to be given to families who agree to donate the organs of a family member who has died (cadavaric donation) and also for significant indirect financial incentives to be given to anyone who is willing to donate his or her kidney when they are alive. We ask that all medical risks be disclosed to the potential donor, that significant indirect financial compensation be given to the donor, free health care for the donor for a period of 2 years after the donation, a cooling off period of 6 months from the time the potential donor states his desire to donate to the time he is allowed to donate, distribution of the kidney to the national list on a medical needs basis without regards for the wealth of the recipient, and government oversight and regulation of the whole process.
