Pan Am Games - A golden opportunity for Burlington

As you know, Burlington has been selected for many valid reasons to host some of the 2015 Pan Am soccer, volleyball and field hockey games.

You are also aware that there are few Burlington residents that are opposed to the hosting these events, specifically in the Sherwood Park area of Burlington. These good folks are entitled to voice their opinions on this matter and they should be respected for speaking out on how they feel. Their initial, emotional reactions caused them to hastily arrive at conclusions which were however based on inaccurate and incomplete information.

Nevertheless, these few well intentioned people will spoil a golden opportunity for Burlington to regain its former position as one of the most respected soccer communities. Perhaps it was before many of the naysayers had moved to the Sherwood area but Burlington was once the envy of many towns and cities in Ontario for its soccer facilities.

We have a once in a lifetime chance to restore that reputation. More importantly we will leave behind a legacy of facilities for our children and in turn their children also.

The squeaky wheel gets the oil. To their credit, the squeakers that are not interested in fully participating in the Pan Am games are being taken seriously at Burlington City Hall.

It is time mobilize ourselves and ensure that we get some of the oil too. Baseball did it to get themselves all of their ball diamonds and we all know how the arts community keeps getting what they want no matter how outrageous it seems.

The Burlington soccer community is comprised of approximately 2,600 adult players and 14,000 parents of youth players. It should not take the Councilors very long to realize that some 17,000 potential votes could affect the outcome of any Burlington ward in the 2010 municipal election. We represent a lot of votes at election time and it\\\'s time we started to use our power to lobby for things we need now and in the future. Start squeaking!!

Please sign this petition and then forward the link to your contacts and have them sign and pass it on and so on. Perhaps we do not need this petition and we\\\'ll get the upgraded or new facilities that we so desperately need. Do not take any chances.

Signatures collected will be presented to Burlington City Council on December 9th, 2009 to show that hosting these games is the right strategy for Burlington.

Wawa status should be that I am rehirable

One manager in Wawa had mistreated me. He discriminated against me some how. He said that he\'d allow me to work in the deli some day, but he never did. I don\'t know why he did that. I then got transferred to another Wawa store of the manager whom I knew before. Even she treated me unfairly. She wouldn\'t let me do anything, except dirty work. I was getting bored and frustrated with dirty work. I then made a pot of coffee. That\'s why I was asked to resign. Don\'t you agree that it was unfair of her to do that? I hope you do. She didn\'t put me in the system as being non-rehirable. Please give me support so that human resources will make me rehirable. Managers aren\'t the only ones who can be supported.

----------------------------------------------------

Although I have a mild disability called \"Aspergers,\" that doesn\'t mean that managers have the right to discriminate against me from doing certain work. That\'s a very prejudice thing to do.

----------------------------------------------------

It was only that one particular manager who wouldn\'t allow me to work in the deli. I taught myself on how to make sandwiches. He said that he\'d allow me to do that, but unfortunately, he never did. I don\'t know what his problem was. My father spoke to the corporate telling them what happened. They said that they would improve their training. The manager who gave me a hard time wasn\'t experienced enough.

----------------------------------------------------

Most of what the manager did was wrong. It was mostly his fault. When my father spoke to the corporation about it, they said that they\'d improve their training and train their managers better. Who knows what happened to that manager?

Managers can\'t only be supported. Employees should be too. Wawa doesn\'t have a Labor Union, but they do have a Credit Union.

----------------------------------------------------

If they say that I can\'t be rehired for the rest of my life, then I\'d have to get a labor lawyer. I started this petition, so that I can be rehired.

It would be nice if Wawa had a Labor Union; Those are the people who\'d support me and get me back the job

Once they receive this petition, I bet that they will realize that employees need support too and not just managers.

Wawa should have wet and dry vacs

Wawa is the type of convenient stores. All the stores should have wet and dry vacuum cleaners incase someone breaks a coffee pot in the deli or a bottle in the cooler. They shall vacuum up the liquid before using the mop. Using the mop right away could make the puddle worse. Please help me out here and agree with me. Don\'t any of you agree with me
----------------------------------------------------
Added by: sathya44 on October 26, 2009, 8:32:09 am
----------------------------------------------------

Once when I worked in Wawa, I kept on telling my boss to get a wet/dry vac. They finally did. My co-worker broke a pot of coffee in the deli; She was going to start mopping right away. THen I told her to wait, so I took the wet/dry vac and vacuumed up all the liquid and she mopped whatever sticky mess was left over. A wet/dry vac is very useful. It\'s good to use incase a bottle in the cooler breaks or incase a bag of sugar or cat food spills. Don\'t you all agree? This is why all Wawa stores should get it to began with.
----------------------------------------------------
Added by: sathya44 on November 5, 2009, 9:00:53 am
----------------------------------------------------

Well, in big puddles, it\'s better to use the wet and dry vac first before using the mop. If you use the mop right away, the puddle will be spreading all over the place. Using the wet/dry vac first will make it easier to mop up.

McDonald\\\'s only has vanilla soft serve. There should be a chocolate soft serve too. Most people in this country especially prefer chocolate to vanilla. Little kids especially. PLease support me in sayin that chocolate soft serve should become available in all McDonald restaurants. They should try and make room for chocolate soft serve ice cream.

Unticketed Passengers having access

All international airports currently don\'t allow unticketed passengers to access shops and restaurants or wait at the gates with our people. That\'s an unfair rule. It will make all the shops and restaurants go out of business. Anybody should have access just like before. It probably will remain as it is until the world becomes a better place. Please support me so that unticketed passengers will again have access to shops and restaurants beyond security checkout.

Added by: sathya44 on October 13, 2009, 7:26:35 am

I bet you all would like to have access to shope and restaurants again. It would be nice to wait with your people again. That way they won\'t be lonely and you can walk around the airport again. This will probably happen when the world gets better.

allow self-serve gas in New Jersey

Self-serve gasoline stations should become legal in NJ. It\'s not good to have full serve alone. This will give you a freedom of choice. Instead of having only full serve, there should be both full serve and self serve together at NJ gas stations. That way you have a choice of doing one or the other. You can go to the self-serve pump or full-serve pump. Oregon is the only other state like this. Even if you\'d rather have someone pump your gas for you, do you at least agree that there should be both self and full serve together to give you freedom of choice? I hope so. Please help me out.

Even though you like others to pump your gas, do you at least agree that there should be both full and self service, so that you have a choice of doing either? For those who like to do it themselves or are in a rush can go to self serve. Those who like others to do it can go to full serve. It\'s not good to have only full serve, then you don\'t have a choice. Full serve alone is unfair.

When Corzine had thought of allowing self serve in NJ in 2006, all the legislators didn\'t support him and neither did the people. I mean even if you\'d rather have someone else pump your gas, there should still be a freedom of choice having full and self service together. It\'s not good to have full serve alone. It\'s unfair.

Could allowing self-serve reduce the gas prices? I wonder. I know it won\'t increase the prices. Freedom of choice is better than only full serve. It shouldn\'t be illegal to pump your own gas.

I started this petition since 1996. A lot of people whom I even talked to about it in person agrees that \"Freedom of Choice\" is better than only full serve alone, but they prefer to have someone do it for them. They do agree that self-serve and full-serve should be there so that you have a choice of doing either. THey think that it will even reduce gas prices. I\'m not sure about that.

All slice soda products owned by pepsi have been discontinued since summer of 2005. They changed the name to Tropicana Twister soda. Once the Tropicana Twister soda was gone, they had a contract with a company that makes a soda called Crush. Pepsi doesn\'t make their own orange soda at this time. Please agree with me and ask them to bring back orange and diet orange slice. Those were very popular. May slice fans are still disappointed. Please support me.

When I called them on the phone telling them to keep Slice, they said that although it sold well, they had already make a decision to replace it with \"Tropicana Twister.\" That\'s because \"Tropicana\" became part of them. They told me that they heard many other Slice fans from all over the country say the exact same thing.

I think they merged with Tropicana company which is why they have the name Tropicana on a lot of their products. Now only the non-carbonated drinks are Tropicana. Presently, they don\'t have an orange soda.

Disabled Veterans to attend State Univerisities

Recently, I applied to the undergraduate admissions of USF and was

told that I needed to take the SAT and/or ACT to be accepted. The

reason given to me was that even with my 3.0 GPA only 18 out of

about 70 credits from the classes I attended while serving the Military

and stationed in Iraq are transferable credit hours to USF. I just don\'t

understand why I have been denied admission, I am going to be a

disabled veteran of at least 70 percent disabled from wounds that I

have substained while in combat. I have been in contact with Joni

Hanson from Congressman Vern Buchanan\'s office to help with this

issue. Unfortunately she sent this inquire to the OIF-OEF office in the

Bay Pines VA clinic and said that this is a state issue so she wants me

to contact my State Senator, Mike Bennett, even though congress

gave USF over 41 million dollars this year in a pork barrel project,

they can not help.

It is important that all state schools honor the military and veterans

who have served and sacrificed so much for our country. It is greatly

disturbing that so many veterans must jump through all these

obstacles to get the education they deserve.

Why should we just settle for any community college didn\'t we do

enough and deserve the best treatment. Please sign this petition and

help change the policy that the State Universities have for admission

for its service members. Thankyou
