An application is currently before the Nyack Planning Board and Architectural Review Board to demolish a beautiful home at 100 North Franklin Street (Nyack, NY), sub-divide and build SIX attached homes on the lot where the former home of Hezekiah Easter, civil rights leader and the first African-American man to be elected to office in Rockland County, now stands. Haven Court, which adjoins 100 N. Franklin Street, was just recently renamed honoring Mr. Easter\'s contribution to our community. In addition to the historical and cultural significance of this home, it is an architectural gem, made from local granite and famous Hudson River bricks, that blends beautifully with the neighboring houses and Churches. If we allow this stunning and structurally sound home to be demolished and the property sub-divided (6 units!) by a developer, we will be setting a dangerous precedent for the community. Please don\'t let this happen. The area is already very busy, with three Churches and two Schools, and simply cannot handle more congestion. Members of the Nyack Planning and Architectural Review Boards, we encourage you to use every tool available to ensure that this proposal does not go forward. We view the manner by which Pennsylvania deals with senior citizen drivers who are no longer competent enough to be on the roads as unsatisfactory. Pennsylvania�s age demographic proves that elderly citizens of age 65 and older comprise a large percentage of the population, one of the highest in the nation. As the baby boomer generation ages into this demographic and more senior citizen drivers will likely be on the roads than ever before, the threat that these drivers pose to themselves and others as a result of decreased driving capabilities is an issue that we see as having a great deal of exigency. We have found little evidence to suggest that Pennsylvania�s policies are up to par with the rest of the nation. The physicals and eye tests given to randomly selected citizens only reach out to a minuscule portion of the population, and while all medical conditions that may impede upon driving skills are required to be reported by physicians, this does not adequately account for the deterioration of motor skills, slower reaction time, and overall apprehension that occur with age. We by no means claim that all elderly drivers are dangerous and should be removed from the roads, but statistics show that the number of accidents per mile driven for senior citizens is higher than any other age group. Also, an accident curve graphic will begin to increase dramatically around the age of 65 and continue to rise. Our solution aims to lessen this trend. We propose that all citizens of Pennsylvania, upon reaching the age of 65, will have their drivers� licenses reevaluated (renewed) every five years by means of a physical inspection and driving test. Senior citizens that claim their own lives and the lives of others do not do so out of malicious intent, but rather it is because they do not realize their inability to maintain safe driving habits. Any elderly driver who successfully passes such a test will retain their driving rights and are free of testing for five more years. We like to believe that most citizens, upon reaching the age of 65, will understand the rational behind this license reevaluation, cooperate with the procedure, and understand that it is founded upon research and good intent, not age discrimination. Please help our cause and sign this petition to show your support. If we meet the designated number of signatures, we will send a letter to the secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation that includes much of the information stated above and enclosed with proof of this petition. With your help, we hope that our efforts may prove to be fruitful in this matter of civil activism.

First off, I have been called/mistaken for a Mod numerous times, and when I tell people no, they will say something along the lines of, \"Oh, you seem like you would be a Staff member.\" which makes me feel like the community thinks I\'m an alright guy. Second, numerous staff members have said I would make a great Mod such as Parker, Billy, NIS, Chuck Norris, Rafi, and I think Hidendra; which leads me to believe the Staff think I would do a good job. Third, I am active everyday, on the site a minimum of 12 hours everyday, which means I would be available to help people at all times. Fourth, I am very active in the Scammers section, (I have earned numerous warnings/infractions because I post in reports I\'m not supposed too >_>), and I help NIS solve cases all the time. I am also active in the Help section, and have solved numerous issues, and offer help to anyone who asks via PM or MSN. Fifth, I am trusted in the community, I have 50+ vouches, and have a verified service and MiddleMan thread. Although, if I became staff, I would get out of the Market section as I believe Staff should focus more on Moderating. Sixth, I know how to run a site, as I run RuneCentral.org with Admin NIS. Must have at least 10 videos. (must be at least 1:00 long to qualify) 2. Must be on YouTube for 60 days. (in order to reduce spammers) 3. Must have a validated e-mail account. (to show its a human, and not a spammer.) 4. Must be subscribed to one person (to show that the user supports others in the community.) 5. A maximum of 1 flagged video. (because we know, sometimes false flagging happens, but we don\'t want someone making videos that are not up to standard to have more rights.) These are what we are willing to do to have our own custom thumbnails. We also realize that YouTube currently has rules regarding the thumbnails posted by YouTube partners. as a drummer, i think that when bands are performing or are in magazines etc. they are usually pushed to the back..:[ and i think they shoudl get more recognition and should say more in interviews and just get more attention than they are getting. any one who agrees please sign up! :)

Dogs and East Hampton Beaches

The East Hampton Village Board on 11/12/09 changed the beach code, further limiting the hours in which dogs are permitted on the beach. Village laws now ban dogs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on all beaches during the summer season. Also raised at the last Board meeting was the possibility of a leash law, or banning dogs from the beach altogether. We want to send a message to the Village Board that the new code does not reflect the desires of a large portion of residents of East Hampton who have or love dogs, that dogs are members of our families, and that any further anti-dog actions are unacceptable.
