US EGERTON PARK GIRLS WANT BLACK BOOTS !

You want us to wear shoes for school, but for girls its kind of hard. So we wear \'dolly shoes\'. In winter there no good, windy cold weather makes our feet cold, but inside these boots we like, there is wool that makes our feet warm and they are unexpectedly quite water proof, unlike our shoes which makes our socks SOAKED by rain, so we cannot get on with our school day with out thinking, OH MY! EW MY FEET ARE SOGGY. Its not doing no harm if its fully black, and they are comfy for a long day at school.

WE WANT BOOTS! :)

thankyou.

Building works causing disruption to Battersea

University of Surrey Battersea Court Residents ONLY:

As many of you are aware the building works from the Learning Resource Centre is causing a disturbance to residents of Battersea Court. This is not only causing a disruption to our sleep but also to that of our learning.

Building works start at around 8am, and if you have your window open, there’s no chance you can sleep during it. This in particular affects residents whose window overlooks the site. Obviously we cannot ask builders to start later in the day, so as we can have a sleep in, as this isn’t logical.

It is also difficult to concentrate during the day, whilst doing work. It is the University’s responsibility to provide students with a suitable learning environment. Although there is the library that we can use, we don’t all want to spend all our time in there doing work. It is also sometimes more convenient to work in our rooms, as our folders and books maybe in our room and we don’t wish to transport all of this as well as laptops etc. to and from the library.

When applying for accommodation before the start of the semester, students were not informed about the building works being carried out. Also, you are not able to choose which court you are based in, only what band of rooms. None of us chose to be situated 20m from a building site!

The aim of this petition is to reduce the cost of rent for residents of Battersea Court. We understand the University’s intention to develop and expand the University for future students. However, their actions seem to neglect current students and their learning environment. Obviously they can’t relocate all the residents away from Battersea. However, I feel that it is unfair for us to be paying full rent payments, as Surrey court which is exactly the same as Battersea, pay the same rent as us, however do not have the disruption of the building site.

Once we have accumulated 100+ signatures, I aim to present this to the University. So if you are a resident of Battersea Court, please sign the petition and state which house you are from in the free text. Please spread the word and get your house mates involved.

Many thanks

Alabama Public School vs Alabama Virtual Academy

If you would like to see an Alabama Virtual Academy in the state of Alabama, please sign the petition. The Virtual Academy would provide more individualized education in a home setting for students. It would provide a way for children who has serious illnesses and requires continous medical treatment to attend school, it would provide children who needs more of a challenge to be able to work on the level the child should be working on academically. It would provide children with learning disabilities more one on one instruction with an online teacher. There would still be parent/teacher involvement, conferences and interaction. The child would still have to follow the State of Alabama Guidelines for testing and graduation.
We live in an electronic world.

The Children would still have social outings to attend and would still have social clubs they could join.

Every child learns in different ways, different learning styles, and in different environments. Please help bring a Virtual Academy to Alabama where our future leaders education comes first!

STOP THE CLOSURE OF BUTTERIELD ELEMENTRY SCHOOL.
We do not want our young children at the elementry level going to school with adolesents. It will expose them to things that they are not ready to handle. Also Middle Schools are not equiped to teach these young children. They do not have the playground equipment or enough bathrooms or classrooms for the amount of children that would need to be transfered to Lakeland Middle School.

Home work is a wast of Time

Banning homework will:
1) Improve Family-Life – If students have more time to be with their family, they will have a better relationship with their parents. Studies have shown that students with good family lives do better in school!
2) Reduce Obesity – Kids will have more time for sports/extracurricular activities and therefore be more healthy and fit. Studies have shown that kids in extracurricular activities are less likely to be involved with drugs and crime.
3) Increase Standards – If people don’t do their homework for any reason, their grade will go down. If grades are going down, states/provinces lower their standards to make them look better. If the standards are lowered then we get a worse education. It’s a downward spiral from there! If we eliminate homework, it will have the reverse effect.
4) Help Environment – If we ban homework. All the paper we used to use for homework will now be saved. An alternative would be doing homework online, the only problem is that that would take up electricity. Eliminate homework = eliminate waste!

If you want to help the BAN HOMEWORK MOVEMENT! You can do the following:

1) Sign the Petition!!

UNISA 2009 CTA

The Unisa CTA results are out. I did not pass, not because I did not study but because the whole examination set up was designed to ensure that only a handful of students pass. I knew that the examination was going to be difficult and therefore I prepared for it.

The whole Unisa 2009 CTA program was to the disadvantage of the students right from the onset.

1. Supplementary examinations were scraped - the reason being that the Board is going to written in January 2010. However UKZN which had exams later is still going to have supplementary exams
2. The exams were written a month earlier than expected
3. Three papers were written in 3 consecutive days
4. Applied financial accounting and Applied auditing questions were too long and therefore did not assist students in answering the questions but only served to consfuse them
5. Some of the lectures misled students at the study schools and there were so passionate about how they marked our answer script wrong.

It is clear from above that Unisa did not want people to pass and it still does not want students to pass. This is cemented by the fact that those students who failed one subject were given less than 1 week to prepare for the so called \\\'special exam\\\'.

During the August Study school a certain lecture mentioned that Unisa was at a risk of losing its accreditation of providing CTA to students who want to persue the Chartered Accountacy profession. The reason being that South Africa Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) requires not less than 70% pass rate from each university. Unisa has been consistently underperforming during the previous years. Unisa had a pass rate of 58% in 2009, 48% in 2008 and 2007 for the first time students. Compare that with Wits\\\\\\\' pass rate of 91% in 2009, 96% in 2008 and 87% in 2007 and you will see what is at stake.

Unisa therefore decided to make a lot of students fail so that it will limit those who will sit for 2010 Board exam. Unisa will benefit a lot since its pass rate for the SAICA board exam will increase to over 70% and at the same time it will have one more glorious year to charge the students study fees for those who did not make it. That\\\'s more money it is going to take away from poor students who cannot afford to leave work and go and study full time.

It is high time for those who feel they are being prejudiced by Unisa to rise and fight. Its time someone take Unisa to court on its unfair practices. Its high time someone institue a commission of enquiry into Unisa conduct as regards to CTA results.

Please sign the petition if you feel you were treated unfairly and let anyone who is in your position know about it. Unisa did not listern to our previous concerns. I think this time we must make Unisa listern.

En manifestant cette opposition, je ne prends pas position par rapport aux réclamations du group occupant, mais m’oppose au moyen utilisé pour diffuser et imposer ces réclamations.

Keep East East

On December 15, 2009, the PISD Board of Trustees will be voting on Option3, the current rezoning plan for the district.

Under Option 3, Bowman Middle School, an East side school, is forced to attend a high school, Clark High School, that is not in a feeder pattern to Plano East Senior High, the high school that Bowman students will attend. This will put the Bowman students at a huge disadvantage when it comes to any extra curricular activities because the coaches and teachers of Clark High School will be preparing their students and athletes for Plano Senior High School. As well as being at a disadvantage, the Bowman students will also be \"outsiders\" when they return to Plano East High School because all of the other high school students attending Plano East High School will have been together for two years at the new McMillen High School.

In addition to this, Plano East High School will lose close to 1000 students to the Central Cluster, forcing many of the fine arts and athletic programs to be at a huge disadvantage to the rest of the district.

Our group, Keep East East, is supporting keeping Clark High School as a Plano East Feeder School and supporting keeping all East side schools in a pure feeder pattern through all East Side Schools.

By signing this petition you are agreeing that East Side students should be kept in a pure feeder pattern to Plano East High School and that Clark High School should be kept as a Plano East High School feeder school, just as it is today. You are agreeing that all kids in the Plano Independent School District should be allowed the same 4 year experience through high school and senior high school.

Allow Cell Phones In Schools

Many people see cellular phones in school as a bad thing, however, people don\'t seem to see the educational use in cell phones. Students would pay more attention to class if they were to use cell phones.Cell Phones have an educational purpose. Cheating and bullying might occur, but that\'s going to happen either way. Foreign language classes are using cell phones as a way to judge the students\' speaking abilities in that secific foreign language.
As it would be, cheating and bullying might occur. Even if cell phones are not incorporated into school, cheating and bullying would still exist.\"Kids cheat with pen and paper. They pass notes,\" said Kipp Rogers, principal of Passage Middle School in Newport News, Va., \"You don\'t ban paper.\" In one poll, more than 35 percent of teens admitted cheating with a cell phone.
If teachers incorporated texts and pictures into classes, students would pay more attention and have more fun at school. Teachers that allowed cell phones in schools would be able to send text message reminders about homework and upcoming projects.
Cell phones are especially helpful in foreign language classes because students can record each other speaking in that language. Pictures could be used to take notes. Videos could be used to record the day\'s lesson and show or send it to friends that were absent. Phones are so common now that seizing them is huge hassle for teachers.
No matter what, cell phones are going to be allowed in school sooner or later, and we\'re just trying to make it happen sooner. Even if cheating and bullying occur through cell phones, its going to hapen and we cannot stop it. If we happen to allow cell phones, most likely, the cheating and bullying rate will dissipate and students will more likely abide by the rules. Also, detentions, suspensions, and expulsions will likely descend rapidly.

On December the 8th 2009, the Las Virgenes Unified School District Board of Directors will vote to close the pools at both Agoura and Calabasas high schools. Both pools will be destroyed, filled and covered foregoing any opportunity to reopen the pools at a latter date. Additionally and most importantly all of the Agoura and Calabasas High School Aquatics programs would be canceled, both Water Polo and all competitive Swimming programs will terminate. Please help let the LVUSD Board of Directors know that closing the pools at both LVUSD high schools is an unacceptable budget cut and that we firmly want to continue to have the pools and the aquatic programs as they are.

We, the undersigned, call on the Las Virgenes Unified School District and its board of directors to discontinue considering the closure of the pools and termination of the aquatic programs at both Agoura and Calabasas High Schools.

We need to end the pain that comes with these uniforms. You say that they end bullying over clothes, but you have basically started new ones. People are picked on because of how their belt looks, because khaki doesn\\\\\\\'t look well on them, even because they don\\\\\\\'t seem to wear it right. This is a lot of mutiny, and if we were at least allowed to wear jeans and a t-shirt, both of which you have forbidden, maybe things would look a lot better. And here is one other thing that bugs me: you identify us by the color pants we wear? That makes us feel very uncomfortable and worthless sometimes.

Apollo High School has recently decided, out of the blue, that students, starting on January 4th, 2010, will no longer be able to carry and sort of bag or backpacks. They will be forced to have a locker, and carry their books around with them during school. This is unreasonable, as we students have been carrying backpacks and bags since Middle School. We have had the option of either a backpack or locker since then. Now, it is about to change, and I say, as a fellow Junior attending Apollo High School, that this is at the utmost importance that we do NOT let this happen.
Save the Buddhist Studies Program

The undersigned students taking courses in the Buddhism, Psychology and Mental Health Program at New College, and in Buddhist Studies in the Department of Religion are concerned by rumors that Buddhist Studies is in trouble. We hear that two Religion professors in East Asian Buddhism are being recruited by another university in the U.S. The University of Toronto has in the past attempted to match such offers in order to retain world-class faculty. Up to today, however, we understand it has made no counter-offer to this valuable pair of teachers and research specialists in East Asian Buddhism and has even proposed to discontinue at least one of these positions altogether! This is not the way to promote diversity, and will strain the connections to the diverse Toronto Buddhist community that have been built up over the past few years. Indeed the loss of these two East Asian Buddhism professors will threaten the destruction of the vibrant and internationally renowned Buddhist Studies program, and students interested in such a program will go elsewhere.

We ask that the University invest in the future and make every effort to keep these two here. If those efforts fail, we seek assurances that there will be a tenure-track replacement for the current tenure-track faculty member. We know that these are difficult times for the University, but we also know the Central Administration still has some discretion as to how to spend its resources. We encourage it to use that discretion wisely, and to Save Buddhist Studies!

Help Joclynn Graduate With Her Class

Joclynn has worked hard her whole life and has always believed she would graduate. She didn\'t even have to be told to do her homework. Joclynn made Honer Roll twice in one year and several times since. Her plan is to go to college and become an anesthesiologist. All of this can be ripped away from her because of a stupid mistake. When Joclynn was 15 years old one of her uncles gave her a knife to use for protection only. When she turned 16 and got her first car, her uncle insisted she carry the knife with her, so she threw it in the center console of her car. Now a year and a half later she had completely forgot about it when the High School she attended hired a company that train police dogs to come in and do random searches on the vehicals in the school parking lot. One of the dogs laid down next to her car and she was then asked if they could search her car and of course, not having anything to hide, she said that it would be fine. They believe the reason the dog chose her car was because of an Inhaler and Amoxicillion that she kept in her car at all times, both were prescribed to her by her family physician. And after finding the knife the next thing she knows she\'s suspended from school pending the school boards desision on whether to expel her from school indefinitely and stripping her right to graduate with her class. Her mother has already purchased her cap and gown. The same day all this happened she found out that she had been excepted into the Davenport College in Grand Rapids Michigan. She also worked for Don Rypma in Whitehall Michigan for two years and Baker College for two summers. She was in training and about to try out for a cheerleading position. This is not your run of the mill case, Joclynn is a very responsible and caring person. We all wish to protect our children and yes sometimes we go to far, but she did not know or even think about the law in this case. She\'s just a kid with a very bright future-If they don\'t take it away from her. Please help by signing this petition. Thankyou!

The next thing she knows she\'s suspened from school pending the school boards decision on whether to expel her from school indefinitely and stripping her right to graduate with her class. Her mother has already purcased her cap and gown. The same day all this happened she found out that she had been excepted into the Davenport College in Grand Rapids Michigan. She worked for Don Rypma in Whitehall Michigan for two years and Baker College for two summers. She was in training and about to try out for a cheerleading position. This is not your run of the mill case, Joclynn is a very responsible and caring person. We all wish to protect our children and yes sometimes we go to far, but she did not know or even think about the law in this case. She\'s just a kid with a very brght future-if they don\'t take it away from her. Please help by signing this petition and even passing it on to all your friend. We need these signatures ASAP! A very big thankyou to all that sign this petition. Carlene

Petition to allow Rhodes to remain 7-9

The Mesa School District has proposed 8 recommendations that would change the make up of West Mesa, including Rhodes Jr High World Studies Academy and Dobson High School. Under the recommendations, freshman from seven Jr Highs would be moved to three area High Schools. While some Jr Highs will be turned into focus schools that will include grades K-8, Rhodes Jr High World Studies Academy will only maintain grades 7 and 8. By signing this petition you are acknowledging the hardwork and dedication on the Rhodes campus by students, staff and the community in accomplishing the following;
1. Increased enrollment in direct opposition to projected decreasing growth trends.
2. Increased AIMS test scores in reading, writing & math despite the fact that Rhodes went from partial to full Title 1.
3. Increased Rhodes community & academic effectiveness via the proactive pursuit of partnerships with the World Affairs Council of AZ, Mesa Community College, City of Mesa, ASU\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s Confucius Institute, & Chinese American Community.
4. Enhanced reputation with the AZ Department of Educations, International Schools Division via Administration and staff leadership roles on the AZ Department of Educations International Schools Committee

By Signing this petition you are requesting that Rhodes remain a World Studies Academy that houses grades 7-9 as an alternative to those seeking options and a World Studies focus. This will allow Rhodes Jr High World Studies Academy to maintain a comprehensive curriculum & a true World Studies Academy model.

This year all but one elective exam has been crammed into the first week, despite there being two weeks scheduled for exams.

Many Students have 3 or 4 exams within 36 hours, or 5 exams, 1 every day. Our proposition is to move the three largest exams to the following week. Corporate Finance, Financial Mangement and Options and futures have 3 or more sections and effect the majority of our class.

If you have a tough exam schedule or support your colleagues that have tough schedules please sign this petition to have these three exams moved.

Thank you for your support.
