Not agreeing to substantially limiting greenhouse gas emission would irreversibly harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind. There is convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, and other greenhouse gasses is causing and will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce highly detrimental and often irreversible effects to the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth. We are citizens of the world, we are convinced and we are deeply concerned. ------ This petition is in response to the "Global Warming Petition Project signed by 31,478 American scientists, including 9,029 with PhDs" (http://www.oism.org/pproject/). It has received quite a bit of media lately despite being highly questionable, requiring only that you state any science degree you 'hold' and send in the form. Dig deeper and you'll find a whole host of other suspect qualities. The petition you are now signing requires only that you are convinced and concerned about continuing greenhouse gas emissions and the impacts that unmitigated climate change will have on humanity and the Earth's environment.
