SAVE THE EPA RECREATIONAL CENTER

We as neighbors, residents, and youth of the City of East Palo Alto would like to plead that City Council can please save the Recreational Center from being removed from it's location. We feel as a residents we were not notified of this proposal to remove the recreational center from Bell Street. Please help us be signing this petition and save our recreational center. This center for years has become home to many children who don't have any where else to go after school, a place where they call home. Many children in East Palo Alto can't afford to join school sports, or even have confident to join them. But at the recreational center they can go enjoy some basketball, games, boxing and meeting up with friends. On Thursday night a group of young adults enjoy a fun competition game in volleyball. To relocate the gym would mean for the kids to find transportation, ride or even not go at all. Bell Street is a center location for everyone to be able to come from the Village, Gardens, and Mid Town. Please help us save our recreational center from becoming the next victim to be torn down.

Thank you
Oliveti Niupalavu

It is crucial these days, especially in urban areas to have a place where youth can go to and meet up with friends and have fun. When these avenues are taken away, then it leads to more problems such as crime, gangs, etc. When youth do not have an outlet to properly provide for their needs, it only leads to more problems. Please save the recreational center for the Youth of East Palo Alto.
