GB POLICY PETITION

GB POLICY PETITION http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/GBPOLICYPETITION/ This petition is a request made by the members of GunBroker(hereby referred to as “GB”). We, the undersigned, feel that certain policies of GB are causing the overall experience, usefulness and reputation of Gb to be sullied. Namely, the lack of a listing fee allows sellers to repeatedly list overpriced merchandise on an endless loop. It is inconceivable that some of the merchants are actually able to stock said merchandise for immediate sale at the close of their auctions. This would require a multimillion dollar inventory. Instead, it is much more likely that they are using catalog pictures and plan to order listed merchandise after the close of the auction. Thus, they are using GB as free advertising. This has two drawbacks. One, the actual paying customers of GB have to search through hundred of listings that don’t actually exist to find the item they are looking for; causing inconvenience to people who are paying for a service. The second drawback is GB is paying for outside retailers to advertise on the GB site. This not only reduces revenue for GB, it COSTS money in the form of servers and technical support for the auctions. At the time of this writing, one of the aforementioned retailers has 16 pages of listings totaling an impressive $3,636,737.21 and is the complete Blaser catalog. Also, not one single auction has been bid on. Possible solution: A reasonable listing fee could be charged for every auction. This could be subtracted from the final fee after the successful close of the auction to maintain the same rates for a transaction and would prevent retailers from listing their entire catalog for auction. We the undersigned, as the constituency of GunBroker Inc, request a change in policy to effect a more useful and realistic auction environment.  Note: when signing this petition, please use your GB user name.
