SAVE NORTH BEACH JAZZ FEST

SF Park & Rec. Commission to Decide if North Beach Jazz Fest is to Survive
Thursday, May 30, 2pm at SF City Hall, Room 416

DETAILS: The San Francisco Rec. & Park Commission will hear our application to produce the 12th Annual North Beach Jazz Fest in Washington Square Park. On May 3, the Operations Committee voted to DENY our request to sell beer & wine. North Beach Jazz Fest is a completely FREE 12-year-old event that survives on beverage sales. We need their approval to survive and we need your help to obtain their approval. THIS IS OUR LIVE OR DIE MOMENT

GET UP, GET INTO IT, GET INVOLVED, GET INVOLVED (how to take action)
1: EMAIL: “parkandrec@sunsetpromotions.net” - this will forward your email to all the Rec. & Park Commissioners & Operations Staff , Board of Supervisors, and the Mayor.
2: PETITION: Sign our online petition at www.
3: CALL: The SF Rec. & Park Dept. is 415-831-2701 - Ask for G.M. Yomi Agunbiade – Tell him you support North Beach Jazz Fest and support occasional beverage sales in Washington Square Park. Please be respectful and polite.
4: SPEAK: Come to City Hall on the 30th at 2:00pm: Fill out a blue card and SPEAK YOUR MIND!!! Ask them to allow us to sell beverages and SURVIVE.

KEY FACTS:
1: NBJF has never had an arrest or violation in its history.
2: NBJF is free, and completely accessible to all ages. WE DO NOT DENY ACCESS TO ANYONE
3: NBJF is produced by San Francisco residents Alistair Monroe & Sunset Promotions. We are a small business that survives on miniscule margins. A denial of beverage sales WILL KILL THIS FESTIVAL.
4: This is the first time NBJF has even HAD a hearing. Last year we were even given a 9pm curfew. Rec. & Park G.M cites “numerous letters of protest against us, but could produce only a meager
5: New managers at Rec. & Park are ignoring our spotless record and recommend prohibition. They have also enacted harsh sound policies in Golden Gate Park. THIS
IS SAN FRANCISCO, A MUSIC MECCA. THEY MUST BE STOPPED!
6: NBJF has raised money to put instruments in public schools for 7 years. Now we are raising money for an environmental non-profit (www.conservationvalue.com <http://www.conservationvalue.com/> )
7: Mayor Newsom, District 3 Supervisor Peskin, the SF Bay Guardian, SF Weekly, and SF Examiner ALL SUPPORT OUR CAUSE, and yet Rec. & Park ignore us ALL. WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!

STATEMENT OF PRINCIPAL: NBJF’s producers admit that the world is full of much bigger problems right now; from global warming, to the mess in Iraq, to the insanity in Washington. However, we have always striven to make our little free event an oasis where all can come and enjoy unity, harmony, and good music and get a respite from life’s many tribulations. Music is a HUGE part of San Francisco culture, and we need your help to save our little oasis, and send a message that FREE OUTDOOR MUSIC IN SAN FRANCISCO IS VITAL, IMPORTANT, ESSENTIAL, CRUCIAL.
