I will be going over a few things as to why you are closing down Runescape Classic little by little and what us (the Runescape Classic players) think about it in the most mature way possible. First I would like to introduce myself. I’m Jamie I have been playing Runescape since it basically came out (around 5 years ago) when you could pick whether you wanted to be a warrior, adventurer, etc. I recently have quit because of Classic slowly coming to an end as other people have. Now the big reason why Classic is shutting down is because of autoing. At the beginning it was fun pking at low levels and all that fun stuff in the good old days. Then people started to get greedy and a few smart people made bots. It got out of hand and a bunch of people started using there bots. Now I’m going to ask you to think back. This is in no way saying things bad against you (Jagex) just a look at what I think could have been a big mistake. When everyone started to auto you guys did nothing about it from the beginning maybe banning a few every now and then from what I remember because you were working on Runescape 2. Once a few people got away with 90+ stats from autoing it made the legit players think well if there getting away with it then I might as well try it to save me sometime and let me be able to PK faster, thus how the autoing craze began. I’m not trying to say it was Jagex’s fault, it was definitely the players fault but if Jagex would have handled it from the beginning it most likely wouldn’t have gotten so out of control. Now most people who autoed did it to get there stats up making pking more fun and being able to hit high amounts of damage to each other. That really didn’t hurt the game at all in my opinion as there was still plenty of places to train legit (when there were a lot of servers at the time). Then people decided they would make money doing it which was the thing that did hurt the game the most. Again thou you guys did not promote banning efficiently enough and people kept getting away with it thus continuing to do it. Now I would like you all to step back and take a look at it from us (the Veteran Runescape Classic Players) point of view. People autoed on Classic, it got out of hand and you were to busy with Runescape 2 to ban them all so you decided to take the easy way out and with the launch of Runescape 2 came the downfall of Classic. You took away some servers. Less servers mean more autoers per server making the legit players complain more. They complained more so good a mass ban came but after the mass ban you guys let autoing get out of hand again so bam no more Free To Play Servers. Good that will stop the autoers, afraid not. Now the autoers moved to members. Less servers even more people started complaining. So again deciding to take the easy way out instead of trying to get autoing and the game itself back under control you made no new account making and the 6 month rule. Now a lot of players say they like this idea, but think ahead. 100 legit players left on classic, 50 per members server. Since there members servers the maps are huge what’s the fun in that. You’ll see a person walk past you every 20 mins no one to talk to, no new friends to make, no pking, no dueling, no FUN. Also what about the legit players that quit months back before the 6 month rule because of autoing? Now they see maybe autoing is getting under control and they cant play. So now we have people complaining about autoing and people complaining about not being able to play. We’ll leave it at that. I would like to talk about Runescape 2 because it does effect this. New people join Runescape everyday. I’ve seen a lot of posts on the forums about new people wanting to try out Runescape Classic which they might think is a better game then Runescape 2 like all of us Classic veterans but do they have a chance? No. I don’t see the difference you still will be making money for members as if they were playing Runescape 2. Now again lets take a step back and think about this from a players point of view. I read someone’s post and it really interested me and I also noticed it myself while playing Runescape 2. Classic was deteriorated because of autoing and while I sit here and play Runescape 2 I see the same thing happening. Go look at Remington Mines and tell me how many level 3’s are on each server auto mining. I’d say at least 5 per server. How many servers is there? Over 100. So I guess what I’m trying to say is the same thing is happening on Runescape 2 but it isn’t getting shut down, it isn’t slowly getting deteriorated. To my knowledge I can pretty much guarantee more people auto on Runescape 2 then anyone ever did on Runescape Classic. I’ve always loved Classic because of the pking style and I’m sure a lot of people would agree with me. It is far more superior then Runescape 2 and takes far more skill in my opinion. What I see from all these posts is it looks to me that all of the Classic veterans and even a lot of Runescape 2 players would like to see the good old original version of Runescape come back. I’d say to start off 3 F2P servers and 3 P2P servers. A lot of people would buy members just to stake again and if you decide to bring F2P back you could use that money to hire a few people to help update Classic so that bots didn’t have time to update kind of like what you do for Runescape 2. We would like to see it taken care of this time and not let the autoing get out of hand like it did previously and we will help you with this because were in it together. We would like there to be a full set of Player Mods and keep autoing under control by Mud client Updates and things of that nature. There are a lot of loyal players that really would like to see Classic come back and would do anything in there power to help Jagex out. I no it could come back if we all just put a little effort into it. Were not asking for anything special just a few servers to have fun on again and a few mods to ensure that the fun is still there and autoing will be under control. Classic has changed my life. I have met a lot of really cool people who some of them I’m still talking to after 5 or so years of playing. One I actually met in RL and is one of my best friends now. All the great memories that everyone can enjoy together and all the fun we all have had will all be gone and I cant stand to watch that happen. I’m not going to lie it really hurts me to see such a fun game just go down the toilet like this without anyone caring one bit. Just think in 2 years no one will even no about Classic and all the good loyal players and good times all of them had on it. If you could just bring a few servers back and have open registration a few days each month and limit the amount of account you can make I’m sure we can make this game back to how it used to be. Tons of fun with tons of great people all around the world. Well that’s my 2 cents on the issue hopefully you all read this and agree. Please don’t respond if you have anything negative to say to me or to Jagex. I want this post to be seen and actually read and I would like a sincere response by a mod or even more then one mod as to what is happening with Runescape Classic. Thats the problem, since the Autoing situation and the effect it had on the number of servers we've ended up with, I have ended up enjoying this game less and less. Mainly due to the fact that there are less people to chat to and less new players...well NO new players now, but you know what I mean. I never thought that I would say that I would miss the noobs, but I do! In the good old days this game seemed more like a labour of love made by people who enjoyed playing the game. They were less concerned with the "image" of the game and more concerned with the playability of it. In a word they kept it simple and we loved them for it. I think one of the other reasons RSC was shifted to the bottom of the pile was that Jagex became a Business looking at expansion and being more concerned with persuing the "Number 1 Internet Game" mantle, rather than being a unique and different game. So the autoing situation gave them an opportunity to move RSC out of the way. If they had asked most of the true "veteran" Classic players before the time that RS2 was originally planned, they would've realised that we didn't want a new game (with new shiny graphics), just a more improved version of the existing one, but being a single-minded Business they didn't listen to the majority their customers. Jagex recoded the game into a new "gleaming" version to satisfy their investors. If they thought about it they could have recoded Classic into the new version of Java that RS2 uses, but hey what can you do? That's just my opinion btw! So that folks is a summary of why we are where we are today i want classic to be restored to its former glory, i have played classic a bit and think jagex should keep alive the original game people fell in love with, this should be read through and approved by jagex, and they should keep some staff members on rsc to keep it under control, the mighty population of 300 has fallen to a mere 70 at the most! this outrage should be noticed! RSC is the only game I have ever enjoyed, and always will be. However, there is no chance of it recovering, whatever jagex do the game will die. If they allow people to make new accounts, the number of autoers will increase by 100 for every legit players. I still remember when classic was at its worst, and it was worse than it is now, I could be on for 2 hours without seeing one legit players, do you really want it back like that? Personally, it wouldnt bother me, I just want classic back. I enjoyed the extra people to pk, and who cared who had the most money? It was all about the gameplay, and getting to meet people. That was still there, autoers or not, now it is no longer there. How can using software to increase you stats/money be considered an advantage when everyone else is doing it? There's a question for you. And thats the reason most people usedit, because everyone else was at the time Kop is more than just a former leader and founder of this clan. He is a friend. The community was excellent, no scamming, hacks and hacking, immature players etc. you could have a good conversation with someone. i knew someone called dixie. he was my best friend and he helped me etc. sadly he quit ~*Funny bugs that used to be around*~ _-The Knife Bug-_ Credits to Maj1c D X for the information: The first I ever heard of it was whispers in the game of some players being able to hit 30s. This was Jan or very early 2002, I think, and the max hit was supposed to be 30 with 99 str and no one had 99 str yet, iirc. Example: One day as I stopped by hobs on my way to ices I said hi to *Name* and he was rather disturbed about something. Then some guy (*Name*)posted that he had a r2h and could hit 30s. Everyone laughed at him and called him a newbie, however numerous people actually did see him hit a 30. Tsk, tsk! The next thing I know about it is when I log in at hobs and *Name* and *Name* are having a conversation, the other player was showing *Name* how to use the knife bug, however they were still keeping it secret. Then a friend pm'ed me that he was gonna teach me a lil trick to hit 30s. Apparently somebody posted how to use the knife bug on tip it forums or maybe Killgen forums and everyone and his newbie were now using it. You could tell who knew it because there was only one place to get knives, upstairs of the varrock shop. Met *Name* there for the first time. In your inventory have a weapon and knives in the space to the right of the weapon. Click on the mini map so that your char starts walking then click on "drop the weapon." Now, as I'm sure we all know, if you try to drop something while you are walking it doesn't drop until your char has stopped. Before you char stops moving, right click on the weapon the weapon has been dropped, however the "wield weapon"option is still available and the knife is now in the place where the weapon was. If you click on "wield" then the knives were wielded! When a knife was equipped it added weapon aim and power, the more knives you had equiped, the more weapon aim/power you had. The only drawback was if you equiped a lot of knives you had no room for food. So after my friend showed me the "trick" (lmao I was too dumb to realize I was exploiting a bug and it was bad) I went to ices and called 2 friends over to show them the nice lil 30 he was hitting. However, although I hadn't mentally classified it as a "bug" I did realize it was crazy so after about a few minutes I dropped the knives. Strange, but true. Didn't even pk with it. That day was wild fun, though. My higher level friends hit 40s and higher rofl!!!! And they almost got 3 hitted by level 60 newbies. Hahaha. Imagine having knife bug today I bet I'd hit 99. *Sigh* I remembered when theire actually were around 50.000 people on rsc.. It was lots of fun those days.. Then I had the 1st smither ever make me r2hs then I was mad rich. I then bought a cracker and swapped it for all hats but pink then bought a pinkand I owned full p hat set. The I was targeted for being rich and made some friends which sent me a key log program over messenger. And I lost all I had . Now my account is 5 years old and doesn't look it becuas eback in the day all I did was merchant Anywayz, I want someone to tell me about the times all was wildy, this is the information I have thus far: -You had a option if you could be attacked or not attacked, you could only change this FIVE times. - People whitin a range of 3 lvls could attack you/ you could attack him. - The max lvl was 60 ( dunno if this is right ) - Steel was the best. - Black knights were the best monsters. - If you killed someone, and there was a pile of items, a other player could stand over it and you couldn't take it so the player would get the stuff when it appeared. - Only Lumbridge was a safe haven. - There were no skills except combat. - No quests. - There was only varrock , lumbridge, draynor, al kharid ( maybe more maybe less I dunno ) - There was evil Magic, and Good magic, also there was a hiding skill.
