Petition for Samoan Child Education http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/SamoanChildren/ In the Pacific Island nation of Samoa, there are currently 1,400 children between the ages of 5 and 10 who do not attend school. Many of these children participate in child labor, selling agricultural products at roadside stands to help support their family. After growing up without an education, they often take low salary jobs that force their own children to work to support the family, starting a vicious cycle. This petition will encourage the government of Samoa to remove school fees and provide subsides to families that send their children to school. Once families receive subsides, they are no longer dependent on their children for support. The children grow up with a full education, allowing them to get high paying jobs, and breaking the poverty cycle. This technique has already shown great success in both Mexico and Bangladesh. We are confident that when the Samoan government acts on this petition, the nation's children will have the tools they need to be successful citizens.
