After three decades, this film still has a dedicated and passionate audience, and finds new fans everyday. MTV has announced plans to create a remake of this beloved film. This is not acceptable! We, the fans, feel that the remaking of The Rocky Horror Picture Show would not only be a disingenuous gesture on behalf of those involved, but an attack the integrity of the original film. The Rocky Horror Picture Show cannot be remade. Its cult classic status is part its essence. A recreation (especially from such a mainstream based company as MTV) would only serve to destroy the quirky, home-made, and over sexualized charm of the film. The Rocky Horror Picture Show was a parody of the B movie, of science fiction, and of horror. A remake would just be a parody of the original.
