Often older games receive less and less play so usually the game publishers make the decision to decline the yearly renewal of online services for these games... Battlefront 1 for PS2 Online still has a strong following of loyal, die-hard, enthusiasts who not only choose to play Battlefront 1 over part 2 because of it's superior gameplay but they choose to still play Battlefront 1 on PS2 Online because they have become part of a community... As corny as it might sound Battlefront has brought together friends & family, and has even made friends & family out of complete strangers... People we now know and love, people we love to hate, people who just love to jump online with their PS2 (or PS3) and play this definitive benchmark in gaming history will be ripped from each other's lives. We have become a real community, a community of gamers, and a community of loyal Star Wars fans... Loyal Star Wars fans who purchase every edition of DVD, and Blu-ray formats of the Star Wars movies... Loyal Star Wars fans who purchase countless amounts of Star Wars merchandise (including LucasArts videogames)... Loyal Star Wars fans that go out and purchase anything with a Lucas logo or anything even remotely George Lucas related! Shutting down online capabilities for Battlefront 1 on PS2 could send a shockwave rebellion of revolt through boycott of Lucas products, lead by scorned Lucas consumers. We are asking that you at least help us help you keep Star Wars Battlefront 1 for PS2 online. What can we do... Take donations? Would recruiting more players to play online reverse your decision to shut us down? Let us know anything we can do to keep this game online for PS2. We are already hosting our own dedicated servers from our home computers using our own routers and internet connections... In fact many of us have upgraded our computers, routers, and internet connections just so we can continue to improve the online gameplay of what we consider the greatest online game of all-time! SWBF is the only game that ever had any online appeal for me on the PS2, mainly because I could logon late at night and have good group of players to converse with. Some of these players I have known for years.
