(Note: that doesn't automatically make me a lesbian) The characters were deep and talented and they all seemed to know how to act, unlike other so called actresses who don't really deserve that label at all. The gains in crude and heavily weighted oil stocks were muted though and Saudi stocks rebounded from early declines as markets were reassured of a smooth succession in the world's biggest oil exporter after King Fahd's demise. The euro firmed to as high as $1.2223 -- its strongest level against the dollar since the Chinese yuan revaluation -- after data showed manufacturing activity picking up in the euro zone for the first time since March. "(It) means the euro area has turned the corner and, if this is the start of a trend, then we should be looking at stronger growth in second half of the year," James Nixon at Barclays Capital said. Spot gold prices hit a four-week high and platinum scaled a 15-week peak as the weaker dollar, rather than any safe-haven worries due to events in Saudi Arabia, spurred buying of the precious metal complex, traders said.
