His infectious effort, enthusiasm and unrelenting hustle has been a large part of the Nuggets successful regular season. Moreover, he's a favorite among Nuggets fans who appreciate his tireless work ethic that brought him from NBA banishment back to a key player in the team's rotation. Due to his past transgressions with substance abuse, Andersen was understandably signed to just a one-year, $998,398 deal, but this makes him an unrestricted free agent at season's end. While the Nuggets organization deserves credit for taking a chance on Andersen, their recent insistence on fiscal prudence has fans concerned that they won't re-sign the Birdman in the offseason. Not re-signing Birdman would be a slap in the face - not just to Birdman - but to Nuggets fans everywhere who spend their hard earned money to watch the Nuggets succeed, and if necessary spend money to do so.
