Dennis Patrick Mclean

My father was murdered in Lae PNG in October of 2002, since then I have been fighting with the authorties both here and in PNG to obtain some justice for my fathers brutal murder. There have been three charged originally and two recently have been acquitted due to a lack of evidence even thgough they accused had admitted they were there at the time of my fathers murders. The Australian governments inaction or reluctance to get involved other than provide me with useless information has frustrated me and my family no end. I need your help to get them off their asses and protect a fellow citizen and enforce justice in this unruly world.

Goverments and politicians must STOP the rhetoric and do something to help human beings on a human level.
Imagine if it was one of their family, what justice would they expect.

It's disgusting that this should be happening.. sadly it's more examples of how the people in power are treating those who are helpless to fight back. Bastards! Why can they not share some of the wealth generated with the local people and treat them with some respect.

My deepest symapthies to Daniel and his families. It will be a great day to experience when we are able to forward emails with pride in our government, their policies and actions rather than with shock and horror. There is an alarming amount of indifference, conservative power and unjust behaviour on behalf of the Australian Government. Unfortunately the wealth of repair and recognition that is needed in Australia itself makes me wonder if such a day will come.

I have had one of my family brutally murdered too. We were able to get a conviction and know what a feeling of "completion" this makes. God Bless.

I totally agree with Daniel's comments. The LEAST that DFAT could do is too seek some resolution to the case.

The governments lack of answers regarding this matter is a disgrace. From all accounts Dennis was a good man, however thisis irrelevant, He was Australian, and that should be the only reason the government requires to take action.

Who goes in to bat for an Australian citizen whose life has been so cruelly taken away. Who helps the family find justice? Why should the family have to petition the government to go into action? Why is the murder of a single Australian citizen not automatically top priority for the government? Is it because he is not rich or famous or the case is not high profile enough to win an election?

Why is that a grieving family is left with so many questions and no one to answer them?

I am an importer/exporter by trade. I am troubled by what is occurring even more so because of this fact, as I travel abroad extensively. I am totally dumbfounded that a family of such honour and respect be treated so poorly. Stop bludging on the people who give you your job. Have the honour as the Mclean family have, and question the justice that seems to at this stage not exist.Have the decency to communicate in a manor that they deserve.

It is the duty of the Australian Gov't to uphold the rights & justices of its citizens any where in the world. To let this happen, stand back & do nothing is very un-Australian. By only doing nothing the gov't continues to create a wider barrier between itself & its citizens.

My condolences to Daniel & the family. Having seen a member of my own family taken well before her time you have my deepest sympathy & support in your fight for justice. To the government, you have a duty to provide the loved ones of Mr McLean with answers and do all you can to see justice prevail.

I was honoured to have met Dennis once when i lived with Daniel in the mid-nineties. More importantly my personal respect for his son and his family is enough to want answers. I believe that Foreign Affairs should do more, and give confidence back to it's citizens. I would also like justice for Daniel and his family.
