Help Me change the guidelines for the Department o...

The Department of Human Services has to much power and not enough guidlines to prevent innocent people from being charged with child abuse, and having children removed from homes and placed into foster care.

I live in Spencer(Clay County)Iowa, and this is what happened to me.

1. I was attacked in my home and defended myself, because my grandchildren where present I was put on the National Child Abuse Registery for failure to provide critical care to my grandchildren. ( 3 of which were not in my direct care).

2. False and inaccuate documentation was presented to the judge which prevented our intervention when 3 of my grandchildren where placed into foster care.

3. we were granted court ordered visitation, DHS refuses to set up this visitation. why? because of number 1 and the fact I questioned my granddaughter when she reported to me that she had been hurt in foster care. This makes me dangerious to be around my granddaughter according to DHS.

4. According to DHS when I asked my granddaughter what happened that was a leading question which prompted my granddaughter to tell lies about her foster parents. I was not allowed contact with my granddauther by phone for a month.

5. The case worker in this case was best friends with the parent accused of child abuse in high school. (this was also the parent who attacked me).

My Grandchildren are being sent back to the abusive parent in a couple of months, because the DHS case worker "has no problems" with the fact that a 18 month old toddler had his leg broke ( criminal charges still pending on this one), abuser admitted to leaving a 6" bruse on the back of another child, and bruses on another childs back that DHS refused to investigate,( the case worker had her own ideas how the bruses got there).

We must make these people accountable for their actions.

Therefore my petition in concerning the following

1. DHS must have criminal charges present before adding someone to the Nationa Child Abuse Registery.

2. DHS must have signed documentation (by person they interviewed) to verify that this information is true. ( This will prevent DHS from adding their own colorful account of what was said).

3. If the court orders visitation then DHS must within 72 hours set up this visitation or be held in contempt of court.

5. All Reports of child abuse must be investigated. (as it stands if 4 reports of child abuse are reported by the same person, and DHS does not find evidence of abuse then DSH can dismiss all reports of abuse by that person).

6. The case worker must report to the DHS investigator any and all reports of child abuse that are brought to their attention. If the case worker fails to do so then criminal charges must be brought against this case worker.
(to many reports of child abuse have been reported to case workers who have not passed this information on to the proper department).

We must at all costs protect our children from child abuse weather it be at the hands of someone they love or at the hands of the Department of Human Sevices.

I believe that many children have fallen into this trap because DHS is not held accountable for their actions. I believe that DHS uses their power to punish anyone that confronts them and will continue to do so unless we make them accountable.

The picture included in this petition is one of my three year old grandson that was not investgated by DHS because the case worker failed to passed the information on to the proper department.

I think the children should be returned to the grandparent from which they were taken znd the child abuse charges should be dropped on the grandparent as they are false in the first place.
I totally agree with this compalaint
