		<title>Make Education A Priority</title>
		<link>http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/educationpriority/</link>
		<description>Mr. President-Elect,

Congratulations! Our country has chosen you to orchestrate the change we so desperately need.

We ask that you make improving our nation&#039;s educational system a top priority in your first year in

office, living up to your record of support for education and your campaign promises, including:

 * Reforming the No Child Left Behind act,
 * Improving not only math and science education, but history, art, literature, music...
 * Your Make College A Reality initiative,
 * Teacher training, support, and retention.

Education was not a key issue in this campaign, but it is a key issue facing our nation, and we call on

you to raise education into the light. By supporting teachers, we will create jobs that cannot be

outsourced. By supporting learners, we will created the educated workforce of tomorrow. By improving

math and science--but also art, history, literature, philosophy--in our schools, we will ensure the

educated nation Thomas Jefferson thought crucial to our democracy.

So, Mr. President-Elect, we, the undersigned, ask that even in this time of economic, political, and

military anxiety, that your administration make education not only your priority, but a national

priority.

We can raise the level of our schools. Raise the level of our jobs. Raise the level of our diplomacy. We

can raise the level of our minds. We can make our future brighter by studying our past. We can solve our

nation&#039;s problems by standing on the shoulders of our nation&#039;s teachers.

Yes, we can.

Sincerly,</description>
