		<title>No state funds for embroyic stem cell research in ...</title>
		<link>http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/embryonicstemcelltumors/</link>
		<description>Dear Governor Richardson

I recently heard about your proposal for a state-funded project dedicated to the stem cell research in the state of New Mexico. Specifically, I am concerned about your proposal to give $4 million dollars to Embryonic Stem Cell Research as I quote from your website:

&ldquo;$4 million in capital to establish state-of-the-art research facilities for Adult and Embryonic Stem Cell Research. Federal guidelines currently prohibit work with embryonic stem cells in space that has been constructed with federal funds. This capital outlay will be used to build a state-funded area devoted to embryonic stem cell research.&rdquo;

As a resident of New Mexico, my plea to you is that you would reconsider the embryonic stem cell research part of it. I have personally looked into embryonic stem cell research and its findings and found that the Adult stem cell research has been proven to be the most promising and the most successful. Embryonic stem cell research is not only destructive to a human life but the latest findings have shown that embryonic stem cell can lead to tumors. I am asking that you would look more into this topic before blindly allocating state funds to a project that not only destroys human life but can also do more harm than good. Please read the enclosed articles.

I am asking you as a fellow embryo and as a man of influence please take a stand against this embryo stem cell research which only kills and destroys human life. It is time to take a stand for what is right. After all, if research performed on animal can be regulated then should not research performed on babies be the same? Why not exhaust all other methods of stem cell research like adult and umbilical cord which have shown the greatest potential?

I have also asked other New Mexico residents to sign this letter in an agreement in prohibiting any federal or state money be used towards any embryonic stem cell research.

Thank you for your time
Please reconsider
