Petition to Restructure Guitar Hero II (Xbox 360) ...

This is to let Microsoft know that enough is enough. This microtransaction nonsense has gone too far. It wasn't "cute" when you charged money for horse armor in Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and it sure isn't right when you decided to charge for cheat codes for The Godfather. Now you have a potential money making product called Guitar Hero II.
When we first heard that this game was going to be released for 360, we all jumped for joy. When we heard there was going to be downloadable songs, that was music to our ears. We knew they weren't going to be free. We understand that the developers do have to take time to make this additional content.
Today, April 11, 2007 you've released the first of supposedly many songs to come out. They come in packs of 3 for 500 MS points. But this is ridiculous. There were 47 songs on the original Guitar Hero, and with this pricing scam, sorry scheme, this would give us a grand total just below $100 (ref: joystiq.com).
We know we have the "choice" to not download this content, and to be honest, with it costing that much, not many of us will. All we ask is to give us a REAL choice. Why not instead of 3 packs, we can choose single songs for 125 points? Or let us choose our own 3 packs for 400 points?
Major Nelson stated before that Xbox Live gives us choice. But what choice is there? The choice to not fully utilize this service? The choice of picking up a Nintendo Wii or a Sony PS3? Guitar Hero II (with downloadable songs) was one of many reasons why some of us jumped on the 360 wagon, please don't make us or possible future adopters regret this choice.

It's just sad that they have to rip us off like this. Not only do you make people buy points like carnival tickets, but you over charge for content like Guitar Hero 1 songs. I for one will not be buying these over priced and poorly packaged songs.

Who wants to pay that much for 3 songs? That should change it to 10 songs a pack or something. Or maybe all the songs from GH1.

Total Robbery!!! This is almost like the RIAA trying to make us pay $30 for a CD that only has 1 good song!!! Wait! maybe this is coming from the RIAA. Either way I will not pay!!! Change the price!!!

I already own GH1 and GH2 on PS2. It is bad enough I have to re-purchase but now I have to pay 3x for GH1 songs over what I initially payed for it on the PS2!

I categorically do NOT condone this and want to voice my opinion publicly.

Paying for songs you can only use in game is non-sense. If we had the ability to use these songs through our PC, or MP3 player in addition to the Xbox will be worth the purchase. Paying only for in-game is not worth it

Release more than 3 songs. I would pay 300msp for 10 songs. Think about it. We're not buying the songs really...can we put them on our zunes and ipods? No, just playable through 360, is that a song or a game addon now?

At 500 msp per 3 songs it would be cheaper to buy all the songs on a $59.99 retail disc. For a XBLive downlaodable content it should really be at least 1/2 the price of a full version disc. Come on Microsoft/ Activision you guys know what fair is, and this is not it. I sell these products in my store (MSP and 360 games/ acc.)and I will not continue to support them with these kinds of choices.

I can tell you first hand that nobody in Licensing would license something for Xbox360 without getting both digital and traditional Rights. Further more, someone mentioned that these were not even performed by the Artists. That means that Red licensed Mechanical Rights and those are by far cheaper than Sync Rights; which is when the songs played in a different format from CD are performed by the Artists.
