The secret ingredient of the battle was cranberries, and while everyone expected the Cordon Bleu trained Giada de Laurentiis to win, culinarily inept Rachael Ray came out on top. I believe a rematch (sans Mario and Bobby and with more unbiased judges like Jeffrey Steingarten) is in order for several reasons: *Rachael did very little work during the actual battle. She spent almost 20 minutes stirring a cranberry curd, and the rest working on a pasta dish. Mario did the bulk of the work. *Rachael and Mario gave the judges cocktails during the battle, something which has never been allowed before in the history of Iron Chef. *David Evangelista, one of the judges for the battle, has been a personal friend of Rachael for many years.
