The mall is supposed to be a place where you can meet up with friends and possibly buy something. Just because someone is under the age of 18 does not mean they should not be allowed to get together with their friends and shop. I understand that some teenagers might cause trouble, but I am sure everyone at some point in their childhood has. So I believe that the Holyoke Mall should remain for everyone of every age. My daughter who is nineteen and a sophmore in college was walking with her cousin who is twelve. They were stopped by a security guard. She was very rude to them, got in my daughter's face,literally, and asked if she knew what the policy was in the mall? Of course she said no. I mean how would anyone know about a policy like this one? It's outrageous!!!!!! My daughter was held there, (remember she is 19,and legal age in this country is 18) until my sister, who is the mother of my daughter's cousin, and I got there.Although my sister asked for an explanation of the policy, she received only a description of it--not the REASON why the policy is in place. I agree with the petition but would also like to know why such a policy is in place. Maybe I should contact the ACLU about this.
