Ironman North-America needs to realize that there are ways to get decent refunds if you cannot race when the reasons are valid (death in family, army related task, accident, etc.). Some races have insurance fees that allow refunds up to 24hrs before the race (Quelle Challenge for instance). 2. Ironman North-America can implement a waiting list and still increase revenue. They need to update their IT system which is currently 5 years back and then implement this waiting list system through their own registration system (it is literally a one day job).
