http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/matureyouth/ When I was a kid the first games I played were mostly arcade games and NES/SNES titles. When I got older my family received an Nintendo 64 for a christmas present. One of the first games we got was a mature rated fighting game called Mace: the Dark Ages. The game was full of blood and executions, I enjoyed playing it alot. But that is not my point of this statement, when I played this game at an earlier age I have seemed to adapt more to life. I learned the opposite of what everyone says about these games, being that they tempt kids into getting guns and weapons to go on a killing spree just because they saw it in a game that certain mature rated game, so in turn, I did not kill anyone after playing this game. The fear of which this might happen is clouding the thoughts of parents. If we allow kids to play mature rated games, then they can build a certain tolerance against killing someone as long as the parent themselves contribute to their kids awareness. I'm not saying let them view a game with nudity though, save that for a different time in the childs life (i.e. the talk). I will ask you to reflect on your life as well and compare R rated movies to M rated video games, they are no different. If you were allowed to watch R rated movies like Friday the 13th at a young age, how did you turn out, did you go off and kill someone? I wouldn't think so because someone was bound to be there with you watching the film and you got guidance from that individual, whether it's your parents, your siblings, or your friends. So I'm asking you to allow your kids to play certain mature games (with or without sexual activity) so they can benefit from them just like I did. Ireland we don't use Mature rated games just +3 +7 +12 +16 (also certifacate 15) and +18. I play 16 rated games and I am a teenager. I also play an game that WAS going to be 18 rated. (Timesplitters future perfect. It's so good can't believe an english company made it) Do I copy timesplitters and use 2 machine guns to repetively kill the same person? Do I go in search of a automatic plasma gun and take out alien thingys? Do I go around with grenades that slow time, throw one at someone and then mercilessly kill them with a minigun? No. BECAUSE IT IS NOT REAL. IT DOES NOT CONTROL MY LIFE.
