They met overall GPA and MCAT requirements and maintained an appropriate level of personal and professional development. After having the guidelines stated several times by both Jennifer Board and Dr.Mike, George and Vik opted to take some of the most difficult courses offered at YSU during their C3 year in hopes of better preparing themselves for medical school. I was unaware of any C3 requirements and they were never mentioned in any of our class meetings. I feel that there was a miscommunication at some level and it is impossible to determine who is at fault. I believe that Jen Board is a good advisor. In my personnal experiences with her she always advised me well and did everything in her power to help me. I spoke with our advisor on several occasions, often with other classmates, and left with the understanding that promotion depended upon overall GPA, BCPM GPA, as well as satisfactory completion of the MCAT. Final year GPA and BCPM GPA were not to be factored into the decision, as long as the other requirements were completed and no professional development issues existed. I support George and Vik’s complaint and hope that both are promoted into Phase II of the B.S./M.D. program at NEOUCOM.
