A New Oz movie http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/newoz/ Let's face it: fantasy movies are popular once again. It started with movies like "Harry Potter" and "The Lord of the Rings" and is continuing with "Chronicles of Narnia" and other films. They think there are no fantasy franchises left, but they are mistaken. Many famous fantasy writers have long since died and most of their work is public domain meaning anyone could make a film of it and completely ignore copyright issues! One major piece of fantasy work in the public domain is L. Frank Baum's books, including his entire series of Oz books and stories. If properly treated, a new film version of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" could be successful. I've already begun to work on a screenplay for a new "Wizard of Oz", and have a very nice first draft finished. I'd like to send it to a film company, but first need to let them know that people want to see OZ on the big screen again and done very well this time.
