Canada will aslo be participating in the 2007 World Cup being held in the Caribbean. BY SIGNING THIS PETITION YOU ARE STATING THAT YOU WOULD LIKE THE ONTARIO UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS(OUA) ASSOCIATION TO INTRODUCE CRICKET AS AN OFFICIAL SPORT IN THE UNIVERSITIES WHICH MAKE UP ITS ASSOCIATION. They are: Brock University Carleton University University of Guelph Lakehead University Laurentian University Nippising University University of Ottawa RMC Ryerson University McMaster University Queens University University of Toronto Trent University University of Waterloo University of Western Ontario Wilfrid Laurier University University of Windsor York University You can sign the petition at the bottom of this page Information about this petition: Cricket is a world-wide sport with millions of fans, mainly from British Commenwealth. Many of these fans, some of whom have played the game for most of their lives, are in Universities around Ontario and would like to have their chance to improve themeselves as players and to play the sport at a higher level. They need your help in making this happen Just like their counterparts, who play sports such as hockey, basketball, football and soccer, the cricket players in Universities around Ontario would like to have the chance to play the sport they love and to pursue their dream of playing the game at a higher level. Canada itself is considered a Top20 side in the world and the benefits to the national team, by a system such as this, would be endless. The game itself will get more exposure and we hope this will help it will grow, in the only large commenwealth nation without a Top 10 side. But more importantly we hope to see a few members from graduating classes around ontario walk away with a degree and the chance to one day become a professional cricketer. Currently, in North America, cricket is not popular with the masses and so many of those who show early promise in the game see no future in it. They usually attend University with the hope of graduating and pursuing a field of work, most, do not get the chance to improve their game or realize their dream. The years spent at University are pivotal in the development of any athlete and participants of almost all other major sports are given their chance to improve and maybe one day to become proffesional, except for those who have chosen cricket. <fontsize="3">You should sign this petition if you are one of those who want to participate in cricket at the University level but also if you believe that CRICKETERS IN ONTARIO UNIVERSITIES SHOULD GET THEIR CHANCE TO COMPETE IN AND ENJOY THE GAME THEY LOVE. <a href="http://usa.cricinfo.com/db/NATIONAL/ICC_MEMBERS/CAN/CCA_HISTORY_11SEP1997.html" >Did you know that Canada won the first ever game of International Cricket?
