Paging For Ultraman: Support Ultraman Books!

Some time back, a fan known online as "Solara" decided to write a book about the famous Japanese superhero, Ultraman. It was planned to be titled "The Ultraman History Book" and was to be a guide to Ultraman and his many brothers (and sisters) in both their popular and obscure shows. Information about other relevant media that involved these characters was also slated to be included within its pages.

All seemed well and Tsuburaya Productions, the company that produces the Ultraman programs, appeared to be quite willing to give the book the green light for future publication in the United States after its completion. That is, until the book's existance was mentioned to an acquaintance of an outsider who worked in tandem with Tsuburaya. Very suddenly, "The Ultraman History Book" lost approval with the company to be published. By the look of things, a related Ultraman book that the two men, (the aforementioned aquaintance and outsider), were working on on HAS received approval for publication. However, when the book will be out on the market is currently uncertain to everyone at present.

This issue came to light around the middle of September 2004 on one of the Ultraman fandom's message boards, which both Solara and the outsider contribute to. It must be said that he was given the chance to defend himself there when he was questioned about his possible involvement in the sudden rejection of the book. However, he has been nothing but evasive, at best. Also, Solara e-mailed him personally to ask that if he was responsible for the damage that he'd done against her work. He responded by forwarding her missive straight to Tsuburaya Productions.

We, the undersigned, put down our names both in support of Ms. Solara's book and the hope of the future publication of other Ultraman books outside of Japan. Not just comic books alone, which many of us enjoy, but real informative ones that we want to eventually be available to any fan in any country across the world. We sincerely hope that Tsuburaya Productions will re-approve Solara's book and allow the opportunity for others to some day spread the word of the big red-and-silver superhero in print.

Note: The petition creator would like to request the signees to include a name/handle and country upon signing.
Also, anyone who wants to give some extra support on the book subject can also contact Tsuburaya's international division at tpcintl @ tsuburaya-prod . co . jp (Don't forget to remove the spaces, and also please remember to keep your letters polite. ^_^)

Ultraman & it's latter day incarnations, whether they're manga or TV series deserve an informative book. I'm a longstanding Ultraman fan, who hopes that Solara & her book can further educate the less-informed Ultraman & Japanese live-action fans.
