The originality of Hip Hop existed from it's beginnings through the 80s, and once Gangsta rap took over, this would lead to what rap represents today and what the majority thinks rap is all about. I'm so glad that while all this bling bling nonsense is still around, that rappers like Kanye West, Common, Talib Kweli, and The Roots are some that don't partake in that bling nonsense and are still able to make music based solely on the origin of Hip Hop, and to all that criticize rap as a whole based on gangsta rap and mainstream rap, take a listen to some of the artists I named, your opinions would change afterwards.
