Save the Second-Person Stories!

A war is happening under our noses. Not of the same costs as the war far in europe, or even as the wars a long time ago. This war takes place on the internet, and the guns are the Minds and Keyboards of those who write Choose-Your-Own, and Second-person stories, sided with those that read them, and those whom own the sites that host stories like these, sided with those that despise the same. Mediaminer has taken cues, from the enemy, Fanfiction.net, and decided to block all Reader-insertions, and CYOA fics. This, is the next blow, and battle, in this war. Fanfiction War One. FWI.

This petition was created by me, SilvernFalcon, the CYOA Crusader (title given by Ryani), to save -all- stories in second person. ALL, be they CYOAs or linear stories. As Ryani pointed out, MediaMiner has started a fanfiction cleanup on September 4, 2004. Now, it's up to us to stop this. Stories written in second person have as much effort put into them as any other. CYOAs often take up at least twice the time, twice the creativity, twice the imagination, and twice the effort to write. They're all written with as much passion, heart, and soul put into them as any other story. Perhaps even more.

Please help us make a change and sign this petition! Remember this: every signature, like every vote, counts.

Help us save the second-person stories!

-SilvernFalcon

I support this, just for the reason that it wouldn't be right if they took away stories that other's have a favor for. Who are they to say that we don't like Reader-Inserts, or CYOA, or any type of story for that matter? They can't just take them away like that, it's wrong and deceitful. How would they like if someone took away their rights to read, listen, or write something? I don't think they would, and they should take a moment to see what they're taking away from us. It's wrong, and I go against it. I'm glad someone is trying to stop them.

I happen to love CYOAs, and reader-Inserts. What do these people think fanfiction was for invented for? Duh. The FANS! We are showing our love and adoration for a series by writing these. Imagining yourself an an anime, or manga, or book, or even video game is a sign of FANDOM. Fanfiction is written BY FANS.

I support this because we have freedom of speech and because "interactive" or not they can be really well writen and good storys. Deleting them because of that just seems a bit stupid to me.

I support this petition because second person is a perfectly accentable writing medium--it is taught in all school curriculums and second person stories can be found in bookstores. If "real" writers can write them, so can we! Second person takes a better conrol of the language, and requires just as much (if not more) intelligence to write. It's as much an art-form as any other kind of writing!

I don't write them, but I do support free speech. One kind of fanfiction isn't more valid than another.

Someone has to stand up to all these things happening. And whose more attentive then the authors themselves.

Banning second person stories? Why not ban English all together?

If first person and third person views are allowed, but is the second person point of view not allowed? How is this aspect different from the others?

Ridicious. Why was the First Amendment of United States created? Wasn't it to promote the freedom of religion, press, and expression?

Then tell, why is this form of our expression so misrepesented and banned?

True... I agree. But the thing is we have to look at the way some cyoas are writen. Most have _(y/n)_ and that was how the WHOLE thing started. First mm.org tried to set a rule that did not allow this, but people still used it. However, I think if we can all just follow a set of rules then mm.org or ff.net doesn't have the right to delete the fics... Other than that... BRING THE STORIES BACK!!!
