And I reckon about when Wolfmother, the Killers, My Chemical Romance came back some of the cult followers started paying attention as a result rock is once again plauged by the common Jock dickhead or the uneducated teeny bopper chicks. where as 5 years ago most of them would have been into hip hop and now are just following what ever is on the radio. I dont think MTV is afraid to play rock but you have to remember MTV is a company and they make money when an artists record label pays them to show a clip on there station.an artists on a indepedent label simply cant afford to pay that or are defying the whole industry to be a little more loyal to there fans who hate it when they have to deal with the fact that uneducated fools choose to like there bands and takes away meaning of the band being a counter-culture image and identy of that away from the fan. Rock/punk/grunge and metal thrive on this. it is wat there genres are meant to be all about where as hip hop used to be this and has really lost its way and probaly will never get it back because it embraces the limelight to much. Pop however has always served the companys that made them and is used by the companies to counter-act Rock and its sub genres. Does that make you feel better about yourself? I'm a metalhead through and through, but I don't worship Satan.. Not all metal bands worship the devil, in all actuality not many bands believe in religion, most of them are full blown atheists. Take into consideration that in the past few years several metal/hardcore bands have came out and dedicated their music to God. Bands such as Blessthefall and Haste The Day are both Christian Metal/Hardcore bands. Someone above stated that all Rockers and Metal players can do is play instruments.. But even rappers can play instruments. We aren't talking about the same instruments or the skill it takes to play these instruments. I'll put why metal players and rockers don't have just their instruments.. Take for example their singing technique.. Screaming is extremely hard to do and perfect.. If done incorrectly it will rip your vocals to shreds and make even talking hurt.. I won't put down blacks with this example though... One of my favorite bands, Killswitch Engage has a black singer who screams and I adore his vocals.. It was stated that Rappers sing about things happening in todays society, but Metal bands and Rockers don't... It made me chuckle to hear this.. So many Metal Bands and Rock bands address todays issues and everything, but in many songs they talk about love.. One band in particular that addresses political issues with their music is called Ministry.. Their lyrics talk about all of the political bullshit going on in this world. I could go on forever on this subject but I'll end my argument here with a few more words. It's music, it's diverse like the people. I have my opinion you have yours. I won't put you down if you don't put me down. Musics an addiction, feed it whatever it wants.
