http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/srmthgoncsm/ To Common Sense Media, In the past, commonsensemedia.org posted a review of the animated series, "Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!" (to be refered to as "SRMTHG" for the rest of this statement.) If one were to look at the reviews by kids and adults for said series, they all disagree with the review Common Sense gave that degraded the show. We, the undersigned, also disagree with the review. These are a few major reasons. All text in quotations is from the review of SRMTHG on Commonsensemedia.org. 1. "with no attempt to offer lessons or teach social values" SRMTHG teaches plenty of social values. In "Depths of Fear", Chiro ans Sprx must face their fear of water to save their friends. In "Snowbound", Nova must learn that there is a time and a place to express anger. These are just a few of many values. Plus, the whole show teaches kids about team work. When even one member of the team is missing, it becomes harder to defeat villians and fly the Super Robot. 2. "arguable message of gender equality" Although Nova is the only girl on the team, she is often shown besting the boys and is very strong and smart. There are also several other guest females, such as Jin May and Ailana, who become strong or already strong who appear in the story. The revier compares SRMTHG's gender equality to that of "The Powerpuff Girls", which has a team entirely made of girls and makes almost every male character either mean of stupid. By comparing these two shows, the reviwer is saying that discriminating against boys is fine, making the review more questionable as far as sexism goes than the actual show. 3. "Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go certainly isn't for young kids." No, it's for preteens. Choosing to judge the show as if it was made for ages 7 and up was a mistake that affected the review in a very bad way. The age it was judged on should have been set higher. 4. "the plots hopelessly confusing and lacking in any kind of continuity." Jetix has a bad habit of playing the show's episodes out of order. However, when watched in order, there is a though provoking and captivating plot that many fans, including teenagers and adults, enjoy speculating on. There are even romantic (and cleaner than that of many other shows for the target audience)sub plots in it. 5. "It's a show that works only if your main focus is on (all together now) shooting things and blowing them up." Like stated before, the show is loaded with subplots and values. The review shows a lack of reasearch and that the reviewer did not watch enough of the show before writing the review to make a clear judgement about it. We, the undersigned, want the review of SRMTHG on Commonsensemedia.org to be removed and done again by a diffrent reviewer and for the show to be better reasearched by the reviewer before the new review is written. If a new review is not possible, we still want the old review to be removed immediatly. However, more into the end of the second series ending, I thought the show improved a lot!
