Stop the Special Ed Cuts, CPS!

We, the undersigned, want Chicago Public Schools to stop the $26 million cut out of the 2007 Special Education Budget. We demand the student to teacher ratio remain low so that youth with disabilities and Deaf youth are educated to their fullest ability. We also demand that students be provided with aides to make sure they learn in the least restrive environment, as required by LAW!

This petition is being circulated by Advance Youth Leadership Power (AYLP), an advocacy group of young people with disabilities. Stop the budget cuts NOW!

I'm a former special education student as the first autistic student in the Chicago Public School system on January 9, 1984 at Le Moyne Elementary School.

I was disappointed last Summer at the $26.5 million budget deficit in special education.

I hope the Board don't have to make any more cuts this year.

I also signing this petition against the Board closing Le Moyne Elementary School, near Wrigley Field in Lakeview.

I don't want to see my history being erased, because I'm also the first former autistic student to go to a four-year college; first former autistic student to testify at the Board of Education meeting about autism last summer; against the Budget cuts; Writing a letter to Arne Duncan about my success in CPS autistic programs and learning disability programs before I graduated from high school and went to college. He and Dr. Renee Grant Mitchell was very impressed about my struggles with aperger's symptom of autism to excel academically to go to college and doing even better.

I may be the first former CPS autistic student to graduate from college.

I hope the Board don't have to close Le Moyne school, whose enrollment include 33 to 44 percent of students with autism.

Le Moyne was the premier autistic program in the CPS system.

In 2005 the Board voted to close the Early Childhood autistic program, discontinued accepting new students and moved the Inter-American magnet program into the Le Moyne.

I praying to God that Duncan doesn't be forced to make this decision.

Since one of the ideas is to split strings not into words, but hopefully into phrases more semantically informative than the words they are made of, doing that better should mean better suggestions, and avoiding what essentially are word n-tuples should make for smaller data and slightly faster querying.

I always have terrible trouble with comment-related plugins that require me to put some line in the comment loop; I can never seem to find the right spot. Can anyone tell me where I should put the php line in my comments loop? I haven not modified anything much, and I would be very grateful. Thanks!

yes of course. i was in a special ED, and i hated the teachers (well not all).i left in yr 9 to mainstream. Every year it gets worse. now i just finish school (completed HSC in 2006).
i could have done better without the special ed. why do i have to wait for the dumb pple to catch up with me and why the teachers act so not normal to me. Im not suppose to be in the special ed but why do i have to move there? i have no disabily or anything. i was placed in the special ed in yr1 to yr 9.

High school specail ed was the worst, its like u have to repeat everything from the start. Even when i was yr 3 and 4, they have more challenging questions than in high school. In high sschool, i have to WAIT for the dummies.

Special ED. ruin my life, why i cant live normal like every other students? Why i cant be treated equally? why are the students dont acccept me even if im already out of the special ed? Why do i have to miss out the mainstream lessons? Why do i have to be behind? I want to study in university to do teaching and become a teacher.
If i was to become a teacher, i would help the student out of the special ed.

I don't live in Chicago, but I agree with Mr. Ocampo's statements. My sister is a Special Education student, so I know what kind of care is needed to help them. Budget cuts are not the way to help these kids.
