<title>Tinley Park Wal-Mart too Close to Local Residences</title>
		<link>http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/tinleywalmart/</link>
<description>If you are opposed to the 24-hour Super Wal-Mart being built on the Southwest corner of 191st St. and Harlem Ave. in Tinley Park, please sign this petition (include your address in the comments section) and then write to the Village Trustees and tell them right away! Your voice will make a difference.

The Village Long Range Planning Commission is currently reviewing plans from Aetna Development Corporation to build a 370,000-square-foot shopping center that would be anchored by a 176,000-square-foot Wal-Mart Supercenter. In this early concept phase of the planning it is important to note that the main building of the Wal-Mart Super Center is no less than 125 feet directly behind our Brookside Glen neighbors, putting dangerous semi-truck and automobile service lanes, dumpsters, noise, fumes, compressors and trash compactors less than 100 feet from dozens of the neighboring children&#039;s homes.

Tinely Park residents are realistic, and aware of the commercial value of the property. We know some type of commercial development will soon present itself. That being said however, we are concerned that our village leaders demand of any proposal that it adhere to current PUD precidence and require a buffer zone, of either multi-family housing, or office space, between commercial development and single-family housing. We can accept no less.

Why Should We Oppose the 24-hour Super Wal-Mart?

1. The current plan places the building too close to residences.
2. It will decrease our property values across the entire subdivision.
3. Dangerous truck and automobile service lanes within 100 feet of children&#039;s play areas.
4. Noise pollution due to trucks making deliveries day and night.
5. Noise pollution from trash compactors and commpressors.
6. Noise pollution from the Tire and Lube Center.
7. Noise pollution from the forklifts unloading trucks &amp;amp; beeping when they back up.
8. Air pollution from the diesel truck exhaust (a known carcinogen and cause of heart disease).
9. Light pollution from parking lot lights. We will have 24 hours of light.
10. There is already one discount retail center witha big-box anchor across the street.
11. There are other, more suitable parcels in the Village for this use in general.
12. You may even have philosophical objections to Wal-Mart. Visit WakeUpWalmart.com for more info.

If we do nothing, then we can expect nothing!</description>
